  1. Going to end my set tomorrow at Winsford with Ordinary Joe. in memory of Nige. It was always the ender at Saints and it was always dedicated to people we had lost, it was played for me the night mum died. its a record dear to my heart and i cant think of a better tune which means so much to me personally . Steve
  2. I,m trying to type this thru the tears. God bless mate. i will see you when i get there Steve n Lou
  3. RIP Freddie. If there is a better soul record than Baby i,m for real. I,ve yet to hear it . The Originals at there very best. Steve
  4. Thanks for keeping us up to date with all thats happening . Hopefully the worst is now over and Nige can look forward to a long and healthy future . Steve
  5. Well said Baz, I use Winsford Soul but always sign off my post with Steve. And if anybody asked me my surname i would gladly tell them its Smith. The problem with not putting your name or where you live on your personall details is when you post you could be anyone from anywhere. And there are to many unknowns hiding behind false or made up names how are then not accountable for any shit they may cause. Winsford Soul Steve
  6. Well said that man Steve
  7. Will find out off Steve Whittle when i meet him later in the week. if thats not to late for you . Steve Will find out off Steve Whittle when i meet him later in the week. if thats not to late for you . Steve
  8. They still start at night and end in the morning Steve
  9. Ask the lonely Four Tops. I never loved her anyway Jimmy Beumont. You can run Jerry Butler. Steve
  10. I wouldnt live with a non soulie. Ex wife first date Casino . Ex partner first date Longton miners nighter / Stoke . Current partner first date Cricketers nighter . If they aint got Soul they aint got me. Steve
  11. Cheers Nige, for keeping us all posted on the old mans condition, like everyone on here we wish Nige a speedy and full recovery. better start ironing my loud shirts for when he plays out next so he dont feel left out Steve
  12. Thought it was about time i joined in . I,ve had the same problems with sound systems been faulty, the guys getting there late for whatever reason and not getting set up in time esp when they have 2 rooms to set up before the opening time and only half a hour to do so . what room do you tell them to do first ? anyway thats my moan. Just off to retire to the Bahamas on the profits from running Winsford Nighters. I wish. Most of us do it for the love of the music, I got involved because a few years back two of my fav nighters where closing. Tony,s and Bretby and Winsford was heading the same way and i didnt want to lose another independtly run nighter so here i am 2 years down the line and its on the up.and hopefully it will continue that way. Hard work, you bet it is. But i love soul music and nighters and i will do my best to make sure that Winsford is run to the best of my ability so that everyone that goes there leaves with a smile and a promise to return. Steve
  13. Nice to be back on line. Just wondering what all the anoracks have been doing for the last few days . With no soul source ? Steve
  14. Cheers Shane. The reason i posted what i did was because Steve runs one of the most successful nights going and my warped sense of fun just told me to do it. it could just as easy been the 100 club , Middleton, Winsford etc. Steve
  15. Shane , Yes it was mate . I wouldnt do anything to offend Steve Cato or anyone else for that matter. that is the problem with posts there is no easy way to transmit humour. i put a whistler up to say it was tongue firmly in cheek. I do apologise if any offence was caused. Steve
  16. For me its got to be Gladys Knight .Its Too Late. unreleased motown. I know it got booted about 10 years back but as far as i,m concerned that dont count. Steve
  17. Yeah, Shaun run it for a bit just after the pier closed. before he made his money on the rave scene. Your dead right about the music not been the same but i still went as stated in a earlier post, i just loved the venue. Steve
  18. It wasnt a dig mate. Us northerners will look after you Steve
  19. Shaun Gibbons ( morecambe pier fame ) Used to run it originally if my memory serves me right. but thats by the by. Blackburn became the best nighter in the country imvho.from the 80,s thru till a couple of years ago when it finally closed. It did have some lean times, different promoters , music policy, dj,s etc. But overall it was a superb, dark, seedy and atmospheric venue. that is still missed. Steve
  20. Just had a few this week. Apollas, Sorry Mama, Loma Demo Blossoms, Thats when the tears start, Reprise Issue. Nicole Willis, If this aint love. Fimmion. Steve
  21. Just some ordinary guy i know, sorry mate tried to get the edit in quick before anyone noticed Steve
  22. Got myself a nice Demo recently and played it at Winsford last Saturday night to a good dance floor reaction. Steve
  23. Thanks Chalky Steve
