  1. Paid my first visit of the year to Leighton Moss RSPB reserve on Morecambe bay today . Had the pleasure of two maybe three Barn owls . The first one was when I was having a coffee and putting on my walking boots before I had chance to get my camera out of the bag flew past me about twenty metres away. The other one was from approximately half a mile as you can see from the two photographs. One is heavily cropped just so you can see it a bit better, even though its not in focus Steve
  2. Martyn doesn't have blue wings and a orange chest unless he has overdone the spray tan again. Steve

  8. Good Evening Peter. Me to mate. Filled them all today. And just as important gave them fresh drinking water. As you can see from the picture of the Swan the lake was mostly frozen over and its a large body of water which takes some freezing so winter is finally here and too stay for a while hopefully to get nature back in synchronization Steve

  14. I would have said £600 to £800 in the real world but from what people are quoting in previous posts. what do I know Steve ( hasn't got a clue ) Smith
  15. Record Dealers pay the entrance fee as any other punter would at nighter,s. Unless you happen to be a dealer at the major weekenders where tables can cost hundreds of pounds for the privilege just on the off chance that you sell a few tunes to cover table costs before any profit to yourself. DJ,s who sell at nighter,s don't normally get charged for the privilege of selling their tunes. Steve
  16. Welcome back Barry. How's Warrington treating you . Did you know that it's a suburb of Widnes without the good rugby league team Steve
  17. Peter. All is well my friend, thank you. What nest would you have guessed at ? Steve
  18. Peter. Good evening my friend see my post above. Steve
  19. Proper wasp nest Andy. Spent many a time looking for the nests. Very difficult to find in woodlands esp oak woods from which they build their nests from the chewed up bark. Used the grubs for fishing. Best roach and chub bait ever. Got stung a few times for my troubles. Steve
  20. He did, along with Where I'm not wanted. Greatest live performance ever. What a night. There was a live recording of the night but it has disappeared. Steve
  21. With a bit of luck, I'm hoping to get some pictures of the iconic flying Scotsman sometimes tomorrow at Heywood, near Bury. Just caught a glimpse of it today, I could see the steam from its chimney in the distance then when I got to the level crossing where I could see down the line it was just leaving Heywood station. So just the briefest of glimpse. Steve
  22. You could have posted pictures of some classic Northern records Steve
  23. Slowly crossing from the dark side. Some great tunes that are totally new to these ears Steve
  24. As a ex promoter of a large nighter which unfortunately closed a few years back. I can honestly say that every single DJ that graced the decks at Winsford got paid exactly the same from the biggest names to the unknown one. They all done the same job, for the same 1 hour set and all got paid considerably more than there day job would pay per hour. And nobody turned the offer to DJ there down. As a ex DJ. I have been paid in various ways. From nothing as a favour to help get venues up and running to £150 plus travel expenses. And everything in between. But I like most people would have been happy to do it for nothing because of the love of this music. Let's face it ,you couldn't make a living from being a DJ on just the northern soul scene. Steve
