  3. Fabulous record in my opinion. But I was there at the Casino when it was played. Always have a place in my heart. For a very special if not this most special time of my life. It was played at Willington on Saturday night to a good response. Steve
  4. Neil. Hope your well . the Invitations are the same group mate. From a person who has hundreds of people with the same name. Steve
  5. Not knocking anything but it seems a strange place to have the exhibition, I thought it would have been somewhere nearer to Brian,s base in the North West or have I missed something. Does anyone know of future dates or plans to show it in the spiritual home of Northern Soul. Manchester ? or anywhere else in the North West Steve
  6. Sleep Tight Toby, another star lights up the Northern sky Steve
  7. Only ever seen two bittern in my life. One that I posted a picture of on here last year and the other one was that I had seen flying. As Martyn said a scarce bird. Steve
  8. Sandra. It was a charity soul and Motown night. As long as everyone enjoyed it and money for a worthy cause was raised. Sod the soul police. Steve
  9. Spent a few hours at Leighton moss RSPB reserve again today. I think its the worst day birding wise that I have ever had. On the Eric Morecambe and the Allen hide I only actually seen six birds, a pair of Shelduck, pair of Oystercatchers and a pair of Mallards. Back on the main reserve wasn't much better with only this picture of a Robin to show for my 130 mile round trip. Not that its put me off
  10. First true sign of Spring for me Steve
  11. I got five of the stax questions right and and I think seven general knowledge ones. And no passes. Steve
  12. Woke up this morning to the news that I now live in a less soulful world. R.I.P Maurice Steve
  13. Just a comment from me with no pictures yet. Yesterday evening i could hear a very loud screeching noise out the back. it was at least two Parakeets squabbling. I,m determined to get some photographs of them, still find it hard to believe that they're here and breeding in the North West of England. Steve
  14. The river Dee at Chester used to have regular visits off seals , They would turn up after a high tide which enabled them to get above the weir in the City centre, then they could stay sometimes for weeks gorging themselves on the massive shoals of Dace that had moved downstream into the City for the winter, but they sometimes ventured much further upstream to Eccleston ferry. Steve
  15. Another great show tonight as after you say a Brilliant Springfield. Thanks Steve
  16. This site is not about the music scene/ record collecting in general its about the northern soul scene and historically any record that's not a original is/always will be called a bootleg. Simple really Steve
  17. Phillipe. Love the fire, it looks so cosy and inviting no wonder the cat is sat there Steve
  18. Dave. I thought you were walking to the stage and the judges mistakenly thought you where dancing. Steve
  19. You could be right, I just remember going to different nighters in various parts of the country under the roadshow thing and I thought one of them was at Maxines Steve
  20. Wasn't it under the Casino roadshow banner or something like that when they where looking for a replacement venue for went the Casino finally closed. Steve
  21. Chalky. Wigan tiffs/maxines. Edwin Starr. Live when he was accused of miming. Turned off his backing tapes and sung accapella. Awesome. One off my mates tipped my 600 chalkies down the toilets because he got paranoid about squad. Bet that took some unblocking (pun intended) Robin reliant turned on its roof one morning when we came out of the nighter. No one batted a eyelid as though it was perfectly normal. Date wise I'm sorry mate can't for the life of me remember Steve
  22. Thanks Dave. Memories of, in my opinion one of the greatest nighters ever. It was that special Steve
  23. Chris. A Rave/ Dance night local to me in Manchester charged £45 a ticket New year's eve and was rammed. . Greedy promoters or business savvy. Steve
  24. Glad all good mate. The weather up until last week in the Northwest of the UK has been nothing but rain since early December. This is my first day off since the weather has turned cold, frosty and sunny. So having heard about the Barn Owl sightings I couldn't resist the opportunity even though it meant a 130 mile round trip. It was worth it. Steve
  25. Good evening Russell.. Hope your well. The light as you say as lovely but the sun was very low and just disappearing behind Silverdale head , it was turned 4pm when the owls showed up. had to push the ISO up to 8000 just to get a bit of light onto the camera sensor. steve
