  1. I had a tape of Rod Dearlove's set at an early 90s Soul Essence. I no longer have it but am trying to identify a track he played that I think was called 'Goody'. Can anybody identify it from my poor description please? I would have dated it as an 80s track.
  2. And there was the Tommy Payton version released on Staff Records. Mountain Of Soul that is.
  3. Cheers Simon. It would work, for me anyway.
  4. I've always wondered what this would sound like as an instrumental
  5. Garland Green covering The Sandpipers-Lonely Too Long
  6. I did wonder about that , but I thought that LJH was played earlier than that, late Wigan time I thought? Was it definitely that?
  7. Turns out it was The Registers-Sweatin'. Also played at Stafford as Stanley Mitchell-Now You've Got Me Baby and later by Roger Banks as, I think, The Kinetics Did we ever find out abut the Stella Dennison track? Also what were the E.Rodney Jones and the International GTOs?
  8. It’s Gwen Douglass-The Picture on Michelle records
  9. I'd appreciate any tracks you can mention. I'm looking for tracks that were initially LP only, I'm not fussed if they were later released on a single. Also I'm only looking for Northern Soul tracks, not for 70s/80s etc. Thanks for playing.
  10. Thanks Simon. I should have known that one? Old age!
  11. Could some kind person identify the track at about 45 minutes 22 seconds please ?? I’m not gonna be a fool for you?? https://m.mixcloud.com/GRUMPYSOUL/a-mix-of-tracks-played-at-lea-manor-albrighton-from-some-of-its-regular-djs/
  12. I thought I’d resurrect this thread and see if anyone was interested in sharing memories of records played there. Any takers?
  13. When I first embarked on the scene he was one of the first people that I met. He leant me his record collection, not many would do that. A good’un. RIP Tim
  14. When was this record discovered, or if that is too mired in mystery, when was the peak of initial popularity/plays? I’m interested in any tales about the disc please - who found it, who made it go big, when was it booted, was there ever a big find of original copies etc etc Thanks in advance for any contributions. Cheers, Tony
  15. Crikey! I will attempt to get out to other supermarkets to hear their upfront playlists then! All a bit unnecessary really.
  16. I know there have been various topics about hearing our music in ‘strange’ places. I also know that this is far more common place today. But I was very surprised to hear Prince Phillip Mitchell’s version of Keep On Talking in Morrisons yesterday!
  17. Did the Butch Baker inst. ever get played under another guise?
  18. Can somebody tell me what the disc was please?
  19. What price would you put on an Ex Correctone copy nowadays?
  20. Has anybody found out any more information on this release? I can’t find any.
  21. I can remember myself and quite a few others having our suspicions that it was Junior. There just wasn’t any way to confirm it, and obviously Pat wouldn’t share!
  22. https://acerecords.co.uk/northern-souls-classiest-rarities-volume-7 I’ll bet this one will fly off the shelf!
