  12. Otis redding, still rated by the masses as a soul singer, its blues you fools !! or maybe somewhere in between

  14. Have you given your pets soulie type names? I had a cockatiel named 'otis' and my sisters dog is called ' keele' I reckon that there are lots of us that have given our pets names related to soul
  15. Oooh i have definelty had the inclination, only when the dj is pants and i want to get up there and push them off the decks !!
  16. No Not unique debs, i haven't ever done it either, not whilst promoting my own events in Torquay or co-promoting in newquay, although i have said few words on the mike ( honest only a few !! ) jo
  17. Spot on !! sounds like a pub singer !! never understood why it got a round of applause at stoke !! I haven't been there since, agree with the Knick Knack paddy wack also, played at Exeter last saturday week, and was also applauded, i despair !!
  18. In the early days the only format available was the vinyl, so hours, days ,months etc were spent tracking down the records to bring them to the dancers, and i for one appreciate all of the effort back then, without the djs and record collectors where would we be? but that was 30/40 years ago, times have changed, its only important now to the collectors and vinyl addicts, your average punter dosen't care, i don't really mind anymore either . I have to say that a lot of record collectors that dj, don't always do a good job, they mumble over the mike, can't put 2 records together etc etc, ( not all, but quite a few ) I like to hear someone that can actually dj,its a minority opinion i know.
  19. Have played many sounds through our ipod at our event, best of it is, NO-ONE noticed, or suspected what we did, just slip in the odd one or two , whilst using vinyl and cds, sounds great, and the customers are happy as we never have to say 'haven't got that one mate, sorry ',
  20. Cds for me, as i am tired of poor performing djs , give me a dj that can actually do the job, with a bunch of cds or ipod, that can entertain me, anytime !! going to sit back and wait for the flack coming my way now !! ok, got on my protective clothing and helmet, go for it !
  21. can you just imagine how she would feel, to have a little known track make it big, and make life a whole lot better for her ? which track ?
  22. Totally agree , would be great to have a tune made popular to the masses, this exclusive club of ours, could be seen as preventing the artists reaching their true potential and popularity. Maybe its time to give a little back, just tell me why the Northern soul crowd have never embraced popularity? The artists are owed a great deal, after all 'they sang' the records not us, time to pay the dues i think, what better way of way of showing our love and appreciation than putting money in their bank ! just another perspective on the point first made
