  1. John's record auctions are great,i am a registered member and bid in the auctions whenever i want to,i have won some rare gem's and continue to bid whenever i like. That is the point, absolutely not one person tells me or forces me to bid,the rules and explanations are there for all to see, nothing hidden, all fair and open to all. There are always fine Northern Soul,Soul,Motown, etc: records, acetates and test press's to tempt all buyers, the individuals budget will vary depending on their resources, common sense tells me that the Mega Rare and "Holy Grail" examples will always sell for big money, that is the way of the world,if you have the money and want it then why not. But,again, you are not forced to bid,you do so on your own merits, win or lose and unless you have really deep pockets, you won't win everything anyway,i don't always win, there are other auction sites and dealers to buy from and not just the UK. Whoever wins the record or records,i just say good luck to you and best wishes for the future in what you decide to do with it,whether it be £10 or £10,000. All the best and stay safe folks.

Hi Bill, Sent you a text on your phone mate. Best Regards, Ron.
  3. Such sad news,Mary Wilson was my favourite Motown Female Artist. A founder member of the Supremes, who as part of an incredible trio supplied the world with fantastic legendary Motown tracks and more. Rest In Peace dear Mary, thank you for your beautiful music.
  4. PM'd you for the Steinways.
  5. PM'd you mate.
  6. There is an alternative, this is what i would do : 1. Place a temporary piece of masking tape over the crack on the playing surface. 2. Place the playing surface facedown on to a flat surface. 3. Having obtained a strong adhesive tape suitable for styrene and vinyl approx 25mm wide, cut a piece that covers the whole crack all round. 4. Carefully apply the tape, smooth it out for a permanent finish. 5. Remove the masking tape from the playing surface. 6. Test the playing surface on the deck. You should be able to use the record with careful handling obviously. Any record with a crack is a salvage operation only, the value has already gone. If you want to play it,it is worth doing if the crack is clean. Good luck mate hope it works what ever you do,Ron.
  7. It is not rubbish at all,it is your opinion, many knowledgeable people will argue against your statement and not all there is to it at all. The Northern Soul music has many tunes that could be labelled 'Pop', but they are part of our music and fantastic, our scene has great tunes from a broad range of Northern Soul Artists, what does your scene offer?.
  8. It is Northern Soul not just Soul,to prove the point you could question whether Judy Street - What (which i love) is Soul,it comes under the umbrella of Northern Soul and it is a Northern Classic Oldie, there are many questionable 'SOUL' records, some like them, some don't,but most folks accept that they are part of our Northern Soul Scene without being forceful in their opinions.
  9. I respect your opinion too. All of the three that you have called rubbish are played regularly at soul nights and nighters, the Soulies and DJ's that dance to them are very knowledgeable and experienced people who know their stuff. If you are going to call them rubbish on a public forum, don't be surprised at the onslaught and backlash that you will receive. We all can't be wrong can we?, or am I missing something thing !!!!! When they are played out the floor is always full, that is why they are put on the decks, dancers records!!!!!.
  10. All three are fantastic records, especially William Powell,it is a big request at nighters and at soul nights, just a brilliant tune and very very rare, why do you think it went for so much money?, always loved by the dancers, including myself.I ask for it regularly and it ALWAYS fills the floor. Just maybe we know something eh !!!!!!!

  16. Hi Rob, Many thanks for the information and your life stories, very interesting, all will be a great help for the future. Can i ask what you did on the space shuttle programme?,all very interesting, must have been very emotional for you when Challenger and the crew were lost. We did get to see one of the last shuttle launches STS-132 Atlantis in 2010 on the NASA causeway, quite and experience as you know. Can't wait to visit Hawaii in the future, reminds me alot of the Azores which i visit every year,in the process of visiting all of the nine islands,i love walking around the Calderas and feeling the peace and quiet together with the ancient history and spectacular scenery. As you say each island will provide a wealth of information and more,it may take more than one visit. Listened to the Hawaiian music video, wonderful, thank you,my Dad would have loved it,many thanks. Thanks for all your help,Ron.
  17. No more up votes for today !!!!!......
  18. Hi Rob, Absolutely fabulous photo's and images of Hawaiian nature and wildlife, all excellent quality, please keep them coming, wonderful stuff. My Family and myself have had many vists to the USA,we love the states and a visit to the Hawaiian Islands is due in the next five years,i have been thinking about it for some time now, but, the Corona Virus has put a short term stop on it for now. There is alot that i want to see in the islands,i have a strong interest in many subjects which Hawaii offers, namely : volcanoes,nature,wildlife,surfing,WW2 History, aviation,Hawaiian culture and the people,Hawaiian music,my Dad played the Hawaiian guitar( he always wanted to go to Hawaii, sadly he never made it,i will make the visit for him and my Mum). If you check back to page 14, i posted photo,s of P51 Mustang Crazy Horse,if you want a look. Nice to hear from you, keep the photo's coming. All the best,Ron.
  19. Looks like a wasp starter nest, the beginning of bigger nest, sometimes they carry on with it and other times they will leave it. I would get some wasp powder and give it a blast up the entrance, leave it for a few days to kill any in there and then knock it off for the bin. Good luck
  20. A beautiful flower Steve, the resolution and quality of your photo's are amazing, including the previous moon image, you must have a seriously good camera and lenses mate.

  22. The "discarded bit" is the stage 1 of the Falcon 9 rocket, this is the main rocket engines which powers the whole rocket vehicle up to the edge of space to get it to the required speed at that point, that then separates and lands back on the barge/ship to be reused again, similar to the solid rocket boosters that the shuttle used. The upper stage 2 rocket then fires and powers the Dragon, the Capsule on the very top in to space 200 miles above the Earth at around 17000 mph, that then separates and the stage 2 rocket is controlled to burn up in the atmosphere to destruction. Dragon is then on it's own at the required speed to complete the mission. Hope this helps Alison, not trying to be a smart arse,Ron.
