  1. A small quantity of unplayed store stock in company sleeves in Mint minus to Excellent condition is available at £32.50 per copy inclusive of postage and packing to British Isles addresses; postage abroad extra. Please reserve by PM. Payment by Pay Pal only. 'Times Have Changed' has had recent exposure and oozes potential for further turntable action. Sound clip on YouTube. Thanks for looking.
  2. Presumably so they can film all those Shredded Wheat adverts...
  3. Why leave records to children who don't like the music let alone the vinyl format? Far better to make plans for records to go to people who will play them, enjoy them and care for them. Auction them off in you want the money - kids usually prefer this strategy. Give them to a mate - great strategy to teach kids not to take the mick out of soul music. Finally, if some bloke can leave two Ferraris to the RNLI, maybe record collections could be donated to Soul Source so they can be shared out to members on a first come, first served basis...
  4. What did the Detroit Executives on the green Pameline label go for? Thought it finished this week?
  5. You're right, I was getting my Bangla mixed up with indigenous peoples or something like it. It was when Butch jumped off the stage waving a tomahawk that I realised he said 'injun'. Mind you, that's no way to encourage dancers to move to Milton James, even if you've just splashed out £30 for a copy. Small wonder everyone sat cross-legged on The 100 Club dancefloor and chanted 'We Want Walter'.
  6. Money well spent. If you have enough of the stuff, blow it on whatever pleases you. The real question is, how do we all get a nice fat wodge of spare cash to buy nice records?
  7. Mint unplayed copy here for £100 for the unlucky under bidder who just missed out on the VG wrpd copy in Chicago that went through eBay for £132.16. PM me to reserve the record. Payment by PayPal only. Postage at extra cost. Thanks for looking. Record SOLD. Thanks for the interest shown.
  8. You're right, Walter got plenty of spins. It was Mark's ace in the hole record late 80's and early 90's when I got back into Allnighters and was one of the records that really hooked me. I was at the 100 Club when he spun Milton first, second, third etc and he really had to work hard to break it. If I recall, once he called it 'Indian Music' and another time he said something like I hope you dance to this 'cos it cost a ******* lot of money.

  10. I'd have gone for Walter and the Admerations too, quality over rarity plus two decent sides.
  11. So, a few late entrants have finally stumbled across Southside Movement...even prompted requests on SS perhaps. Thought Cool Off might have fetched more as this is a hard record to come by and a work of sheer brilliance.
  12. Perhaps somewhat inferior but if it's good enough for Butch then probably good enough for most of us. Me, I'd like a copy in the collection.
  13. Absolutely. Butch had a hard time breaking it at the 100 Club. Suffers from near total obscurity but also the very nature of the song. Dead rare doesn't always mean dead good to dance to. Respect to Butch for sticking with Milton.
  14. I might have gone along with this a year or two ago but we've entered a whole new era - Bobby Kline @ £2K, Mel Britt @£1,000 plus, Cecil Washington @ name your price... It's like the classics in short supply are doubling in price. I guess once you've secured the one at the top of the wants list, you just have to shell out more than you want for anything else on the list.
  15. Unbelievabubble... Good record but surely not in this price bracket. John is a top notch dealer. Ten years ago, he barely touched a Motown record - now he has a great batch of hot ticket sounds, maybe from a collection that's come to market rather than the siftings of a distributor buyout. Here's evidence that big Northern sounds on 45rpm are going to rise and rise in future.

  19. Scientists of Soul is the best tune I reckon...
  20. An unexceptional week apart from Buddy Smith but not all that much up for grabs really. Still the best British auction by far compared to the competition. The spiel is brilliant - someone's angling for an Honorary Degree - but most importantly, the whole process is totally transparent. How John sources records in such good condition I'll never know. I guess it's tough coming up with better and better records so some weeks inevitably will be fairly low key. I check the bids on John's auction items daily but very rarely bid on them. I strongly recommend watching some other ( non eBay) websites with auctions to observe how superior John's is.
  21. The book is brilliant and a must for all serious vinyl hounds. The contributors are credited at the front but are ordinary guys who don't seek publicity in the UK or the USA. Several of the records pictured have been sold on via JM auctions. If you want info on a specific record, someone on here may give you brief details. Most of the records featured are hard to obtain and some are almost impossible to acquire so it's worth attending a major venue when the scans' contributors are DJing. Could you tell us which of the records featured in the book you have in your collection?
  22. Very sad news. Only knew of Joe through Soul Source and others who mentioned him at various events. His contribution to the scene will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Joe's family at this time.
  23. PM'd you Billy.
  24. No, sorry. Caught the end of the match and spotted the tune. Unfamiliar, RnB, pretty decent. Thought to myself, the BBC Northern mole has been at work again. Can anyone unmask the mole? If we could, not only would there be someone to identify obscure tunes, but maybe give requests to eg Footsee for Strictly, Double Cooking for Masterchef etc
