Well, i fell asleep halfway through that advertisemaent Kev! BUT, just in case im one of the loud mouths you refer to..(eg. anyone who doesn't tow your line!). Ive had 31 years on the scene as a dancer and lover of 'soul and soulful people'. I feel that i have contributed a GREAT deal to the scene, in the same way that EVERY other punter has. Because, 'big fella', we ARE the scene. Without us there is no YOU! On that basis alone I AM your equal....without people dancing to the tunes you broke, guess what? They wouldn't have broke! In addition to that, and I dont want to go into a long advertisement, I put on a play that had a combined audience of 100,000 people....devised, directed and produced it! So, dont try to portray US (whoever WE are) as illiterate hooligans! That my friend is a definition reserved solely for yourself! I dont give a flying F--k about your history, if your deeds today are so contrived and void of any semblance of 'soul' that it takes 18 months to apologise for 'outrageous behaviour' towards our friends! Indeed, if the matter had not been raised again , on this forum, I doubt ANY apology or recompense would have been forthcoming! And, I dont know who you refer to as people who you wont give spots to? But just in case anyone thinks thats me..NO F--king way. I have boycotted your venues as a matter of 'soul' and moral principle for a very long time. Anyway, I am truley bored with you, your music and your lame excuses. So, have a profitable christmas and I hope Santa brings you a 'soul' Peace paul-s p.s. These characters are now creating so many bad vibes, they themselves are receiving awful reputations. Jesus! I dont base my reputation on the 'Northern Soul scene'. 'Soul' is a pleasure thing for me, so i dont need a reputation! The only reputation I care about, is the one i have amongst my friends! Anyway, about Whitby.....? Seriously Pete. I have it on film. BUT, i put too much of my life into it, to sell it as a dvd. It was a live experience....same as a good nighter!

And no doubt most of the people slagging it off have never even read it. I own the first one ....THAT WAS ENOUGH! thanks. If you listen to records, cd's, go out and about, etc, you can get your own education.....its ALL out there. The book gives you KEVS 'education' and believe me, he's not the most articulate 'soul' i've ever met! When I read the first book, it doesn't have most of the stuff i liked and danced to then in it. BECAUSE? I had a mind and soul of my own, then and now. For f--ks sake are we 'soul sheep' baaaaaa!

Great reply. I'll add a little bit.The play was merely my perspective on an period in my life! No hidden agenda, top this, top that!! It was re -staged due to popular demand and then I decided it was enough. Various sides were trying to hi-jack it and wanted merchandise, dvd's, musicals etc. I could be a lot better off than i am now, if i had gone with some of that crap! Bolton ARE doing a musical of it! You see, I did it as a tribute not a business move. I didn't want it to become a parody of itself.....like a lot of the 'Northern Soul' scene sadly is today! Seeing it become a shite musical actually breaks my heart, same as hearing a tune i once liked, hammered week in and week out, until i cant stand hearing it! People like KR, Winstanley etc, who want to 'educate' us, are the there to perpetuate and often fabricate, the popular 'Heyday' myth. I was there and aswell as great stuff, a lot of shite was played, same as today! F--k educate, you've either got a soul or you haven't! I've met plenty of younger people on the scene who have far more 'soul' than the miserable bast--ds i have to listen to at a lot of nights, harpng on about the old days! These whining throwbacks weren't listening then and they dont listen now. Im convinced a lot of them dont even like 'music'. If i had the same business exploitation attitude as KR towards the scene, the play would never have stopped touring. I knew it was time to stop when people in the audience (having seen it a few times), started saying the lines with the actors! They weren't listening to them anymore. Get the analogy yet?
