  1. Just spoke to John and he said that he told you that he got Danielle via me Liam. Given that she was the lead in my play, im suprised it didnt come up? Dont mind mate, but credit where its due and all that.
  2. NO..JOHN doesnt know ANY dancers , so he called me. So Actually it was me who supplied Danielle! Suprised John didnt mention it, Ill have a word about that! And I know plenty more if you need them .....only need to ask!
  3. been around a long time.... good tune But tune of the year as some are saying, im not sure. Bit of an oldie really!
  4. Ha! again....I had one on sale only a few weeks back. Took a while to go. Then they ALL want one......always the way.
  5. Liam, was she miming. John said she wasnt, but she looks out of sync with the words?
  6. She is a great girl as you say. Diet coke Liam...diabetic!
  7. ....Is Bonnie Herman a soul record!? Wow that must make 'Duffy' Deep Soul! And Bonnie is certainly in the 'Cheese' bracket. Given the choice, Id rather have 'Duffy' in my playbox. (hyperthetically of course! )
  8. Think they get around £6 a piece! So yes, not a bad nights work Ken!
  9. BONNIE HERMAN...now that is cack drivel!
  10. I totally agree with your comments.....apart from the venue thing. D.D.A. rocks the floor without predjudice and definitely DOES NOT live in the past!
  11. Think shes miming! I supplied Danielle one of the female dancers, she played Maxine in the play and Johns on there too! But what thanks do you get eh! You can buy me a pint Liam! For the record, I think its all positive stuff...keep on!
  12. Its very rare and cost a few thousand quid!
  13. Oh yes, sorry, I forgot about WILTON. Heard the last one was brilliant. Run by people who love music and always delivers something new.
  14. They era of the All-Nighter is over I feel. They always seem interminably long. One factor is down to the fact that people get pissed and bars stay open late open all night. (This was not the case back in the day.) Usually these nights start off with a bang (til about 2) and end with a whimper, after the booze takes its toll. Not repetitive? It depends how much you get out and if you listen to much music. If you go out once a month or dont listen to music as a part of your eveyday existence and needs, then Im sure these 'Big' allnighters fulfill your desires. Its down to the collective unconsciousness, or consciousness Personally I think 9pm til 7 or 8am is ridiculous. Remember we used to start at 1am and finish at 7am?! That was why it worked...a short intense and committed burst of 'soul'. A lot of these events have All-nighter times but the crowd come with a soul night attitude.......hence the fade out at 2am. I know some will say, "our venue if packed from start to finish"...were the best in the country, blah, blah, but, I have visited ALL of them I think and the reality is often far from the truth....very few sustain the momentum and often publicise on the reminicences of one 'special' night, that was packed and had a great atmosphere! I wish it were different, I would love to go to a regular nighter, with a guaranteed success formula....lets hope it materialises soon.
  15. But then on some of the marketing it advertises..."The Guys From The Duffy Video"?
  16. Totally agree Reg. Their night is, from what ive seen, a student night, with b'boys, mods, students etc attrending. Nothing to do with the scene, except that it plays a few Northern soul tunes in amongst the rest. An eclectic night of soul and funk! Other venues have tried and done it over the years in Manchester. These nights are usually quite ephemeral, in that they rely on the fad-like revival of 60s music (which occurs about every 5 to 10 years in some form or other!), this revival is fuelled by the manufactured sound of 'Duffy'. If you have read any biogs on her, she did not find the sound on her own, her manager thought it would suit her. So, good luck to them...make a few bob out of it while you can. Unfortunately these nights usually drift away when the fickle student crowd move on to the next trend.
