  1. I heard it in Oz first time, much prefer 'Give it up'. Made it a DDA classic over the 2 years i was there...top tune! Joan, of course made 'Gigi' a DDA biggie aswell. Thank god Stevo sold up!
  2. got mine of you when you sold up! Not selling though....
  3. Prince Geno And The Tailormades Brand New Man With The Master Plan Fabulous & Infectious, a lilting jazzy piano & guitar fused intro, momentarily soars on strings, then a soulful vocal adds attitude and protest this classy arrangement. A mid-tempo delight to keep the dancefloor rockin' away. Positively perfect for DJs who pride themselves on sets involving the off-the-wall productions of real-quality. A pleasing bonus, is how Bill Hancock's Washington D.C. release has taken the classic design of the iconic Los Angeles label giving this 1974 release a face to admire, also. Current bid: £ 8.00 GREAT semi known to have its day....top drawer On JMs now...check the clip! [url="https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/auction/login/id/4650"]

  7. Ha! amazing...you can only hear a 4/4 beat.....therefore you should be happy with all music. Frankie has an 8/4 beat to me. But i guess you always danced.4/4. If you look at old clips from Wigan of people stomping (shuffling) their not following a 4/4 Pete.
  8. Just reading Black Echoes from March 3rd 1979 and all these venues have Northen/Funk events. These are just from one week!! Tiffs Newcastle Funk & Northern Alldayer with Searling, Winstanley, Evison, Rae and more Birmingham Locarno Funk & Northern All dayer withPep, King, Evison, Neil Allen, Dave Til, Clive Jones and more Scottish Soul Society Funk All dayer in Bathgate with Tony, Segun, Ned, Frazer A lot of people who say they went out and about back in the day seem to have forgotten what was out and about!!
  9. As ever dishing out insults and then moaning when they come back Pete. I found you intimating i lie about where ive been an insult. Anyway, as ever loads of bigotted rubbish and unsubstantiated statements from you and the guy who can only call 70s 'Gay Disco'..bless him. 4/4 beat Frankie Crocker Delrays Inc Niteliters Detroit Executives and loads of others were played back in the so called 'heyday' and none have the 4/4 you say defines Northern, yet packed floors at most venues. As for 'Gay Disco' for f--ks sake what do you call Lost Summer Love, Pick Me Up And Put Me In Your Pocket, Theme From The Fantastic Plastic Flying Machine, Esperanto, the Chas & Dave sound a like Interplay and the hundreds of otherv atrocities that were played then...pure sh--te and definitely no soul in them! Just because your favourite tune by CAMP has the lyric Hup 2, 3, 4, doesnt mean there arent numbers after that and that beats contain them Pete. If you think what i play is shit list 10 of them with a critique, or is it just a bigotted generalisation? At least i know the music you talk about and therefore have a right to an informed opinion...your just full of Guff and hollow opinions, based on venturing out no further than your living room. As Johnny King & The Fatback Band say ' Let All get together in Peace , Love, not war'. You probably dont know it Pete (but will have an opinion anyway).. x
  10. another of me not being at a venue!
  11. Wirrena, i think?? Most venues had that feel Think that may be Cliffe in background (not with beard!) Id call FRANKIE CROCKER a massive oldie that hasn't got a 4/4 beat. Im i mistaken in thinking trhats a 70s tune?
  12. Me pretending to be at a venue....
  13. Ask Gill Cousins or Cliffe Steele if i pretended to go to venues Petey 4/4 what a load of toss!Just cos thats the only beat you can count in mate, dont presume its the only one that exists. Not picking on anyone, just your outrageously uninformed and biggotted statements. Jonathon Capree (you probably aint heard it cos of your dinosaur approach to music) is one of those new discoveries of mine that people dance to at the moment. Jesus, the further you get out of touch , the more you grasp at the past because you rely on selling a load of banged out oldies! Update Pete, open those cloth ears and do a bit of research. At least the proper record dealers have a modicum of knowledge and keep up with things. Your a closed book that everyone has already read. zzzzzz
  14. Put on a Soul or Nothing Complilation by yours truly about 4/5 years ago i think. It will deffo become harder to find and higher in price as time goes buy.
  15. Your dogma never ceases to amaze Pete. Well done, an example for all to follow. 70s used to feature quite a lot back at Wigan, Cleethorpes and everywhere else? It seems that those who stopped listening after 1868...whoops sorry i mean 1968, have adopted a know it all, heard it all attitude, that seems totally contrary to ANY scene where people purportedly love music. The best new discoveries are coming out of the 70s and the old guard (you) seem to be going back to 50s Rockabilly.... Each to his own, but maybe you should try listening to it all (or at least some) before making such sweeping and fascile statements.
  16. She could sing it with bag pipes and a saw and it would sound great....top voice.
  17. I have to disagree Brett. Vinyl is on a revival and bands are actually going with vinyl releases now AND would you believe, the cassette tape is having a resurge! There was a great programme on radio 4 last week dealing with this very topic.
  18. Very True Gareth. Frank has been rising in price for the last 5 years and Jms was the cheapest ive seen. Adam Leaver has an orange copy. Still think the very cheap Chris Jones- Destination unknown is as good as the rest on Goodie Train.
  19. 1970 - 80 mostly (funk edged soul) but remain open to everything, cos you haven't heard it yet!
  20. JOHN HARRIS & The Soul Sayers - Hangin In WALLY COCO - Message To Society DYNAMIC CORVETTES - Keep Off The Grass
  21. Personally i dont take Jms as a guide. I know one went on ebay at £270 and i sold one for £250...but i hope you do find one for $300 mate.
  22. YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT on Harlem Hit Parade m- superb stafford tune, so soulful! £80
  23. Think you may have to pay more than that?? Callum from OZ had a spare when i last saw him.
