  1. From me YES. I think its pretentious and arrogant to offer 'how to dance to soul music' classes. Whoever does them.
  2. NO! Its the flip thats great. Destination Unknown.
  3. ...like a 'womble' revival. Maybe thats a good generic term for them? Wombles...they were once underground, but now overground, Wigan Wombles! In fact, perhaps thats a good Team name for Sharons competition crew! Uncle Bulgari is, of course, our own Mr RW. Uncanny resemblance me thinks! Underground, overground Wombling free, the Wombles of Wigan C, soulies were we, Making good use of old tunes that we find, no OV vinyl, cos boots will do fine! Uncle Winstanlia, he can remember the day when he wasn't behind the times, with his plan for the world, take the Casino and turn it into mugs and teee ee eeeeees! Oh yes please! singalong to tune below...
  4. Maybe she could come to Lifeline or another allnighter and promote her services. Do a 3 record demo dance and give us an insight? Oh no! Even as im saying it, i have visions of a special room at weekenders for beginners with low self esteem...a salon even,Healthy eating and such!
  5. No. Just the fact someone is deluded enough to think they can teach people HOW to dance to soul music. Formalise it. You dance how the f--k you want to a tune. Who judges? Or thinks they can judge? You need to listen to music, love it, feel it and move....any way you want. End Of.
  6. [Our precious underground scene is overground. Steve
  7. Love this thread. Very funny. Allows us to grieve through tears laughter
  8. She couldn't Pete. There is no (recognized) governing body. No qualifications (i hope she has public liability & Indemnity & a CRB check for young dancers). You can get sued if someone follows a dvd and can then prove they were injured as a result of bad teaching. So she cannot prove she is qualified and therefore her qualifications to teach this in a formal way can be questioned. Though maybe universities may give it accreditation.
  9. iv been thinking that she might be a really good dancer and could teach us all something , you never know . she could turn up at a rare/underplayed nighter and put everyone to shame . doubtful..
  10. I agree with you about those records & someone bringing a cd player to a venue But Paul would you go up to someone & tell them that you did not like what they were wearing?...........i dont think any of us would do that Debbie x
  11. The funny thing is............None of you have the guts to go up to the dj's playing the records & moan to them about what they play, or to go up to the folk wearing the clothes you dont like & tell them to there face, you just hide behind a keyboard & moan Debbie x
  12. Well, thats total rubbish, i can give loads of TRUE examples of what an opportunist, uncaring, souless being he is. Ive been at the end of it. In fact, in the past he has asked Mike to remove 'TRUTH' rather than answer it. He gets other people to i guess? I dont know. The fact that some people excuse this crap with 'a guys got to make a living' shows how wide the gap truly is between my understanding of 'soul' and theirs. We are just from two different scenes i guess. Im not a part of the smashey nicey, memorabelia, live in the past, get the mug, wear the shirt, play the bootleg, sell my soul scene. If this had happened in the 70s when people still had care and respect for the scene and gave a f--k, there would have been uproar and derision. Now, you want dance lessons...f--king hell!

  19. Id say Voltaires would fetch £300 easily now...everyone is after it..
  20. [ LaCleve Milon: your love/giant step - Soh Eddie Lovette: what'cha trying to do to me - Steady Both £20/£30 tunes ADAM LEAVER had both for sale i think.
  21. Yet, many on here will tell you Binstanley is soulful and deserves respect. Seems to me he would put his name to anthing if it meant publicity. Hardly shows respect to the scene we loved and knew. Shes probably choreographing the Hollyoaks soul special. Even given the evidence people still say, give it a chance..ha! God help us.
  22. OOH, almost as patronizing as when Pete S says no new discoveries are coming out of the 70's!
  23. This thread has me in stitches Just read the comments! pmsl....we are joking, but they will appear...'wigan casino leg warmers"...
