  1. Jesus christ its almost as if you desperate weekend soulies are blind! I have read the script and seen the trailer...its crap. Just because you haven't dont put you naieve optimism and lack of integrity on me...best Paul I put that on the cd (you obviously didnt see the play) and said, If Toni & Showman had been discovered it would have been played at Wigan. So dont quote out of context. As people who know me will tell you, even with the play i wanted to show i have ALWAYS moved on with music and that track WASNT IN THE PLAY, but was on cd to show the scene needs to ALWAYS move and discover exciting tunes. I had and have a special dispensation on authenticity cos i went continually and not cos i saw FOOTSEE on tv. YOU? If you tell me which tracks and which scenes were wrong when you saw it, ill be happy to answer your questions.
  2. Thank you for your contacting PRS for Music via our website. Your email has been passed to the Anti-Piracy Unit to deal with. I have reviewed the link, however it appears that the item has been removed from EBay. If you come across any counterfeit or bootleg material, please let me now directly and I will do my best to investigate the matter. 3. You seem to think that this is my preoccupation. I have far to busy a life to really give a toss. BUT i believe in calling a turd a turd and this film is a turd...peace!
  4. My My, do you know the worst thing about SS sometimes is the growing "hey man live and let live" attitude to ANYTHING, good or bad thats done. My friend just because YOU let everything go and dont give a f--k, have run out of zest or care for anything, doesnt mean that i have . SO, "let it go mate", some people still do care...let them. You can still put your feet up and endorse every Northern Soul product, dont worry...enjoy your dotage! The fact that the actors (some) have distanced themselves from it, is a very good indicator of its quality. You see, thats what THEY do for a living and therefore, like any job you do alot, they are pretty good judges of its quality.
  5. It will be of significantly vast importance? What a load of absolute tosh. So ANY film good or bad is a reference for the inspiration of future generations? I can only assume IPSO facto have hired you as some sort of evangalistic press officer or is this a wind up? Nice one if it is mate! Im pmsl On that basis the crap TV film that came out in the 70s was of significantly vast importance? Even though it was a pile of innacurate crap and ALL on the scene distanced themselves from it for fear of being mis represented and associated with it. Your advocating that the fact that it was done, was an inspiration ? YOU may have had no taste or feel a film has to be tacky (see trailer for reference) to sell, but many films have managed to avoid this and represent accuuurately a period of history. Whilst i know your 'Carry On Up The Casino' approach will probably be popular, it makes me cringe. 'It Wont Get Better Than This'? Very bold statement...SO no one else will make a better film about it?mmmmm? I dont think so...
  6. AS i said, i went, and the play was based on MY experience (first hand) of those years. It was done as a one off, bUT took off. THE film (By shimy Marcus) is a pile of crap. As i said in other posts, it was originally a script that had nothing to do with the soul scene and then they saw a band wagon to jump on and did so. and squeezed the script into a WIgan film! Ive seen the script and the trailer (which is absolutely terrible)) so i dont need to reserve my judgement. A trailer is designed to show the best moments of a film to excite and intrigue you to go! So if thats it then really...its crap! But im sure loads of the people who went to Wigan for a week or two in the 70s will love it! There parents or them were nowt to do with Northern soul, you assume i comment without any background knowledge ot the film, but, as i said ive known about it, read it, years ago...! Even some of the actors in it are embarassed that they did it!

  18. Your daughter is right. The NORTHERN SOUL scene is quaint and twee. Thats the staunch, oldies only, lets sit in a time warp brigade, that have garnered that image and claimed it as their own. This film will certainly add to the twee factor...it was directed and written by totally twee people! It features the 'TWEE BEFORE EIGHT'
  19. Get over your apathy mate!
  20. I think it will be DVD rather than the odeon mate.
  21. wiggyflat, on 09 Mar 2010 - 10:08 PM, said: Ive looked....some quality stuff and all danceable..Don't suprise me with Sadot though because he can dance.Seems like you are doing the business. Is the playlist constantly changing or are you taking time to get certain tunes into peoples minds.I'm glad I'm not the only one on the same wavelength. This is the sort of stuff the oldies crowd would accept if it was introduced gradually. I stick with some tunes trying to give them exposure, so people might become familiar with them...like Wally Coco, Grace, John Harris etc. BUT i also dont like to hammer tunes so that i become bored or sick of hearing them. I believe if you really love a tune you look after it and that includes not battering it week in week out (not that i dj much.ha! ) until it becomes a background noise. You see some djs put tunes on and can see it does Nothing for them any more, no excitement or connection to it. I just dont have tunes like that in my box. If im bored when im djing , im going to be a boring dj. I also would never play something that i wouldnt dance to. Small rooms like rugby back room, Move On, Room With A View, our cambridge venue and others are an important part of the scene, but fact is, thats what the Main rooms used to be originally like back in the day, full of new and exciting music. I know that, if promoters had bigger cahoonies and varied the dj rosters, punters would love loads of the storming 60s/70s unknowns/underplayed tunes that are around. Its a crazy attitude not to....it assumes they think that they have heard everything and i know that they haven't.
