Always wanted this on 45. Found a record store while on holiday in Seville last month. Only a handful of soul 45s to look through but yes, there it was! only VG+ copy and sleeve a bit battered but for 4 EUROS - that'll do for me!

Jackie Trent, You Baby. Casino Classics Test Press
Benelew replied to Suinoz's topic in Look At Your Box
Think it's a great tune but not sure I'd play it out (a recently departed mate of mine was a friend and neighbour of Ms Trent a few years back, in Majorca I think). Got a nice UK White Demo on PYE. One of those crystal clear recordings that came out of PYE's Oxford Street studios in the mid-60s a la Pet Clarke (although Jackie's vocal is certainly more soulful than the rather plumby sounding Petula ever was). Husband Tony Hatch wrote it with her I think, as he did a lot of stuff for Pet and others ("Call me") etc. Jorge -
Yeah, funny this. Top one seen most often as original in my view. Bottom could be label redesign rather than a formal second release. 70s reissue definitely couloured Palm Tree and there's also an EP on Sue label with Anglos (from late 70s i think). Jorge

Not sure what point you're making. Yes, technically, what you're talking about are original issues in the UK but if they're released 10, 20, 30, 40 years after the US original then they're all pressings/reissues to me (that's not to say that some of them aren't hard to find nowadays). Jorge

Sold a load of Actions recently (inc Barbara Mason) on Ebay having had more or less the whole run inc blue & grey 70s releases. Just kept one or two of the more Northern dancers for DJing (E Holman, Showmen, B Patterson etc). Have to say was disappointed in prices I got considering so-called collectability of the label. Only Roy Lee Johnson got over £20.

Is There Any Politics Surrounding These Two Instrumentals
Benelew replied to Birder66's topic in Look At Your Box
Yeah, recall that Sidra's them was used amongst others in the 10 minute short film (Can't remember title?) produced by (?) a couple of years ago that showed the Scottish Ninjas dancing in a darkened church - sounded fantastic against the backdrop of the dance footage. Remember seeing it shown at the Victoria & Albert Museum's '60s' day (in 2007?) which included the live debate chaired by Ady Croasdell and also screened John Cussan's delightful 'Whitby Weekender' DVD featuring interviews with Alexander Patten (oh, and one with yours truly - not my finest hour!) The Gems - I'll Be There - Riverside Ever Booted?
Benelew replied to Benji's topic in Look At Your Box
Yep pretty sure I had a wdj boot on vinyl - looked quite authentic - but no stamp. -
Forgot about this one, remember getting it as a £1/£2 cheapie off manship in the early 80s. Not many had heard of it back then.

Remember buying one of these off a stall in York market in late 70s. The guy was selling a load of pressings/reisues at probably 99p each and he had a load of these mixed in all brand new unplayed. To be honest thought they were reissues at the time but as the 45 was relatively unknown then have to assume they were originals.
