Remember you playing it as a new release Mark - think that's where I first heard it, probably at Cleethorpes

Opolopo mix a particularly good example of a remix / rework though - taken a great tune and arguably improved it, compared with something like the Javi Frias 'Hard edge and paint' Pages remix which to me just seems a crude cut and paste job

Track Identification
Knew post Stafford but didn't know '87. Played it to death

Track Identification
Remember it on a great Guy Hennigan tape from the mid 80's with a load of his plays on

Ramsey Lewis RIP
Can't think of many artists I've spent as much time listening to over the years - from being blown away when I first heard 'Wade in the Water' at Tommy Smith's Birch nights at Ashton Manchester early 90's, the fabulous 'Hurt so bad' being the background music on Richard Searling's show for years ("next Saturday night at the Chadderton Bowling Club, Oldham", etc), through Spring High and so many others - never far from my turntable. Thank you Sir for all the wonderful music - here's a particular favourite of mine:-

Mojo / Contempo label -alternative takes / mixes
If they had access to the masters they maybe just used slightly different mixes by mistake, or whatever they thought sounded best - possibly a bit like (as documented elsewhere on here) some Kent LP tracks have slightly different mixes to the 45 releases

North / South Divide 1970
Came across this great 1970 BBC Archive film recently which got me thinking about the soul scene around that time Was only born in 1970 so interested in any reflections on the north / south divide in the 1970's in relation to the soul scene (or just generally I guess) Did the country feel a much bigger place with less access to decent transport, road systems, etc? Godin coming up to Blackpool must have seemed a long journey. Did people in the north think the southern soul scene was full of hippies, or flash geezers, etc - what was the view of the time?

Michael Henderson RIP
Been meaning to post on here - sad news indeed, a truly talented guy with a fabulous voice, very underrated in the overall scheme of things IMO Don't think anyone has posted this yet - never get tired of it

Winfield Parker – My Love For You/I Wanna Be With You
Wow that is amazing - wonder why though? Surely no point in listing for those prices if it's still a £40 - £50 record

Funny I went to Chicago in 1999 and like you say could have had as many 50 cent copies of Chimes as I could have carried - ended up with only about 4-5. Didn't reckon much to it at the time but has grown on me over the years and I can see why folks like it now - would be interested to hear if it is being played out

That ties in with my recent 'Cheap 45, now expensive' thread where I was asking if current demand and increased prices for certain tunes is down to plays out? I mentioned Oscar Perry 'I got what you need', Maxine Brown 'Let me give you my loving', Chimes 'Beginning of my life' - didn't really get any answers as to whether they are getting played out, where the demand has come from etc
