  1. What a story, amazing stuff - have loved 'Just Bros' since I caught half of it on tape from Butch's radio show at an early Yarmouth w/e lol - pure magic
  2. Also this one, soul as deep as you like and then some
  3. 'Rain in my Backyard' comes close, kicking falsetto vocal toward the end Nine Times, love it when you think it's on the way out but then the sax break kicks in and takes it to another level Even love top-ten-tastic 'Jack in the box' But for me it's 'Sweet sweet lady', like something beamed down from another planet - guitar riffs too Isleys but sublime strings and harmonies - the last minute possibly my favourite in any 45 - headphone heaven
  4. PLEASE SEE UNSOLD ITEMS NOW REDUCED
  5. I was just copying and pasting it lol My mate played it a couple of years ago and my ears pricked up then. Saint Etienne guys do seem to know their stuff
  6. Hi Neal, Check my PDF's - only small but there is a tick on the 'Fear' side and a couple of words on the flip. Let me know if you want it. Cheers, Chris.

  8. Hi Kev, I'd say the same about 'As long as I live', which you can still pick up for pennies. Also 'Just another lonely night' - cheap as chips, and what a voice James Epps had - not many better IMO Cheers, Chris.
  9. Cult sound around the North West early 90's when Guy was playing it at Tony's Empress Ballroom, and easily available for a tenner at the time - remember even then thinking it was a tenner well spent, and still not one I'd part with easily
  10. Funny, been singing this to myself all night since I posted it and one of the chord sequences was naggingly familiar. Delighted to report I've just realised it's the theme from Jim'll Fix It .........."and you and you"
  11. Makes sense now Don't know anything about Lola
  12. Got to be a different Fluffy - ours definitely a bloke! Strange though, can't imagine two Fluffy Falana's, as such an unusual name Not the greatest singer in the world either but can't see the Cliff similarity Peter
  13. Woah, what a tune - love this. Only just cottoned on to it recently, put off previously by dopey sounding artist / title Tuneless dirge or atmospheric magic?
  14. I like that one too In a Julian Covey kind of way
  15. Emperors a decent stab but brings to mind Willie Mason ' Why' - once you've heard Nat Hall nothing else will do
  16. Not heard that version before - doesn't have the sheer power of the DG version but cool al the same. Surprised you don't like it Martyn, could imagine it being one of your spins
  17. That makes sense, I can it well imagine at at mod do's
  18. 100% with you here - love it, and think it sounds just as good at home. Repetitive and musically simple yes, but raw and exciting. Thanks for the US info though Robb - very interesting
  19. All good info, thanks, and interesting to get a US perspective. Solid gold party record, can imagine it going down well in the States where other stuff we play wouldn't necessarily. Out of interest what other tunes are 'overplayed' over there?
  20. Been hammering this one recently, much to the annoyance of other members of the household Got me thinking, the first DJ I remember spinning it was Dave Rimmer (probably 12-15 years ago at a guess) but was it big previous to that and I had just missed it? Stafford? 100 Club? Torch?! Info appreciated Cheers, Chris.
  21. Can't beat 'Do you love me just a little. honey' from the 'Dynamite' LP for my money. No 45 though as far as I know
  22. Was at Roger Banks' 40th birthday do at the TBI Nottingham a few years ago and seem to recall him being given one as a present, presumably folks having had a whip round. Wonder if he managed to get it home in one piece
  23. I was going to mention this one as well - a proper lost treasure, one of my favourite 45's full stop. Also love 'Show Place' from around the same time - banging tune
  24. Hi Mark, Notice Chuck H still for sale from Steve Jeffries as below - will cost you three and a half big ones though https://www.rarenorthernsoul.com/Search/chuck+holiday/ Cheers, Chris.
