Reckon I've solved it - just checked the link further up to the Kent version and that's the one with different backing vocals - maybe Ady didn't realise they'd used a different version, as has happened before of course Looks like the youtube 'silver' clip I posted is a doctored green one with the Kent version playing Makes sense when I think about it as it was Clegg Sun night a few years ago when I heard the other version Need a lie down now
-
No idea but have heard the other silver version above being played out, remember thinking it was different to the one I had The plot thickens
-
If you compare the two versions I posted higher up the first has backing vocals straight away, the second (later one) doesn't Also when the backing vocals come in on the later version at about 23 seconds it sounds like different singers, singing the same words but with a different rhythm Sounds to me like they remixed it and added different backing vocals. MJ's vocal same on both as far as I can tell
-
But a different version??
-
That makes sense - wonder why they used a different mix (remix?) on the later one?
-
Of the two I posted above the green one is the same as the LP for me, the pink one (or whatever colour it is) has different backing vocals to the LP and and is a less punchy mix IMO. Don't know about the Kent 45 as not heard it and no youtube clip
-
I thought the same, someone had one on here the other day for £50, though interestingly there's only one currently on Discogs (at 50 euros) so can't be that common Is it UK only on 45? I wondered about the mix thing too, are there two different mixes on 45? if so how come? The green one I think is the same as the LP version and appears quicker and more punchy with different backing vocals

Hi Kev, yes a superb album all round, for me one of the finest 70's soul albums, the genius of Jeff Perry all over it. So good I'm going to post another track Hope you are feeling better soon Jackie Wilson 'Pretty Little Angel Eyes'
-
Just catching up on here and saw someone mentioned an underrated Jackie Wilson track - well this for me is the most underrated Jackie Wilson track - Beautiful Day album only, the sublime 'This love is mine' :-
-
Anyone know the story behind this one? There were loads of copies around Manchester in the early 90's, you could pick a minter up easily for £6 - £10. Assumed at the time it was quite common but did someone just find a box full? Don't seem to see it that often these days. Has it ever really been played? Stafford?

Duffy Power If I get lucky some day Parlaphone

One of my favourite spins in recent years but assumed it was a fairly recent discovery - did it get much action back in the day? When / where / who from? -
Proud to say I've never missed one either, and gutted it might be finishing. So many memories over the years, I absolutely love it. Was 23 when it started and now 47 so have grown up there. Got married, had kids, etc, but nothing has got in the way of Cleethorpes. Regardless of whether or not this year is the last one, everyone should pull together to sell it right out as a massive thank you to Ady. Wouldn't it be fantastic to see it packed to the rafters this time?

Been trying to work out what this reminded me of, and just realised it is basically a re-write of Soul Communicators 'Those Lonely Nights' on an earlier Fee Bee incarnation (1968 according to Youtube). Presumably I am late to the party and you lot knew all along?

Alfie Davison - Love Is a Serious Business.
Chris Turnbull replied to Fishdockroad's topic in Look At Your Box
Brookside version poor sound quality IMO, very muffled and nowhere near as good as on Mercury Another oddity is the 7" promo has a stereo mix whereas the 7" issue is mono. I have the issue but would have preferred a stereo mix 12" version strangely unsatisfying IMO, love the 7" but the 12" mix too disjointed -
lol knew it wouldn't take you long

Bought this last week from Mark Freeman, totally addictive - must have spun it 20 times over the w/e Tommy Dodson 'One Day Love' (Uptown)
-
Great stuff, love that one Martyn - got it on a nice UK CBS demo. Could just see you dropping that at Empty Bottles
