I used to be much more obsessive about it, but in addition to soul and funk records, I also collect USA releases of UK mod / freakbeat / psych 45s. Now I just keep an eye out for the ones I don't have. Also used to collect 50s thru 70s jazz 45s with a passion, but these days, it's only the small label stuff that really catches my attention.

my wife and daughter are out of town for the weekend. got some beer on the way home, and am playing the cds and going through some records. sounding real good everyone. balance of my cds will be in the mail tomorrow.

Have to say that the CDs that have shown up are great. Nearly done with mine, hope to have most or all in the post tomorrow.

Really like the flipside of that 45.

This is what I do as well at local shops and flea markets. If it looks like its soulful, in half way decent condition, and the price is right, I'll take a chance.

I believe the yellow v. black "The World Today" 45s are different recordings of the same tune. I remember this being discussed on the funk45 board a while back.

I have a copy of this. Not a bad tune at all. I like how unpolished it is.

There is an adaptor for cleaning 45s on the VPI. Unfortunately, I do not have a VPI to comment on how well it cleans.

Carnival and Arctic are up there for me.

Great tune. I love this label, as the production is just fantastic. Last year I bought a beat up copy of Barbara Brown's "Forget Him" at a flea market and even through all the noise it sounded good to my ears.
