anyone know Willis Jackson "Nutherin' Like Tutherin' or "The Scorpion" by Lou Donaldson, and finally one of my all time favourite tracks.Sarah Webster Fabio and "Sweet Songs"
I have "Nutherin'" on the Jackson's Prestige LP 'More Gravy'. Haven't come across the 45 (If there is one), and I'm a big Prestige 45 fan. I'm still hoping to find Eddie Jefferson's "Psychedelic Sally" on Prestige......

Out of interest there's a copy of "You", another little masterpiece IMHO, on ebay now!
Maybe some copies turned up in NY??? I just bought a copy off another NY record seller last week.....

17 17 Little Black Woman--Vernon Garrett
Good tune. Interesting to see it on a station's playlist.

Glad to hear there's another soul & funk collector about.
Welcome to the board.

I'm gonna have to start doing this. My wife gave me grief yesterday for spending $30 on a 45. And $30 is nothing.
I tried to throw it back by mentioning the salt and pepper shakers she's collected from flea markets, but failed miserably.
So tight-lipped and price-free sleeves may be the way......

I had a 45 that played fine on the portable, skipped at home (I was using stanton cartridges) . Bought some shure white labels to replace the stantons, and skip disappeared......

A recent ebay sale of the Ampex 45 yielded about $150 dollars, but there were quite a few bidders...

I sold a VG+ copy about a year ago for $127 & it had a good amount of label damage.
There is some demand for it, but I can't see it selling for much more than $150.
Then again, I have been wrong before.....

Living here in the States, there's not the chances to "get out" like in UK so I have lots of "record room parties". LOL!

Unfortunately, Dave that is too common in the States. Haven't been to a soul night in years. Been meaning to get off my ass and do something about it, but I have a hard time staying up past 11 o'clock these days, unfortunately........

I'm selling my collection over the next few weeks, as I'm getting married soon and have been told the records must go.

Sounds like a great way to have a good time

Little Herman's 'One Out of a Hundred' doesn't quite bring a tear to my eye, but stops me in my tracks every time.

This is a fantastic record. Should be getting plays everywhere. Not just my house....

I sent you an e-mail about the Leon Gardner.

Good Things is a great track.
If I had the cash, I'd buy it immediately.

Kool and the Gang - s/t

My tune at the moment is
Ambassadors - Ain't Got The Love of One Girl (On My Mind)
And to think I originally bought it for the other side.
Obviously I'm not too bright sometimes.....

On my blog this week I re-visted a bunch of soul tunes I hadn't thrown on in a while (preferring the funkier side of things these days). One exception: the Margie Joseph is a recent purchase.....

I have been playing this in the car again and again as of late....seems to be my summer tune. Glad to hear others love it as much as me.

Anyone Bought Any Decent Cds Recently?
in All About the SOUL
Posted
I'm glad someone asked this question - I've been meaning to ask for CD recommendations myself.....
I bought my first northern CD in a few years - Northern Soul's Classiest Rarities vol. 2 - and there are some real solid tunes on there....unfortunately, the ones I especially like are either unreleased ("Losin Control") or way out of my price range (Jimmy Bo Horne - but what a tune!!!). And that 'Dining in Chinatown' tune, talk about quirky.....
