  1. Here's a furious r'n'b track on the label that I featured on my blog: Sonny McLaurin There's also a Richard Rome 45 on the label, "Ghost-a-go-go". I have info on another title or 2 at home.
  2. Of the 45s I've sold on e-bay and shipped to UK & Europe in the last 2 years, I don't believe I've seen postage at less than $4.80. Generally runs between this and $5.60 for one 45 in a cardboard mailer + and usually 2 inserts. I charge $6.00 to be safe.
  3. Russ - just caught this sentence: I have travelled a lot too & again, stopped at Thrift Stores along the way, much to the annoyance of my family. Glad to hear I'm not the only one driving my wife crazy stopping at every thrift shop along the way. This summer I expanded the area I look in, stopping at yard sales and estate sales, still only finding LPs, if I come across records at all (low percentage of yard sales seem to have records). I seem to do better at flea markets, but that is still hit or miss. Maybe a sign up where people can tear off your phone number at some local grocery stores or other places that have high foot traffic? You may get some calls, though, where a guy tells you about his rare Barbara Streistand records, like I did once........
  4. I almost never find any 45s at the thrift shops in my area, let alone soul 45s. Although, last summer, I was surprised to actually find a mix of decent condition 45s at a thrift, from doo-wop to soul to blues. I ended up buying them all and selling the doo-wop and blues stuff. The soul titles were Judy Freeman and Blackrock on RCA (not 'Hold On'), Sam Dees on Chess, Fred Hughes 'Don't Let This Happen To Us' demo. Nothing rare, more of a pleasant surprise. As mentioned earlier, if record shopping at thrifts, it is probably best to expand what you buy - sometimes there are titles that can be purchased & sold for a decent profit.
  5. Juddy, Do you have a website or something that I can get the dates of your nite? I live on the other side of PA, and wouldn't mind making the trip across the state to hear some tunes. Cheers, Dave
  6. Quite like this one. More details please.

    Thank you. Great tune.
  8. I have 2 of her 45s: It Takes a Whole Lot of Lovin / Lo Lo Too Hot Too Hold / Salem My questions: a. The Queen on Rush - anyone have a soundclip? b. What else is there in her discography? Would like to hear more.
  9. Carla Thomas - I've Fallen In Love (With You) on Stax Such an amazing tune. It's on Soulclub, just can't figure out how to get the link in here.
  10. Not exactly what you are looking for, but on the Fania All Stars Live Vol. 2 LP there is a cover of 'If This World Were Mine' sung by Joe Bataan and "Miss La La", which is pretty good.
  11. Forgot how good that Big Ella tune was....gonna have to throw it on the turntable now. thanks for posting it up
  12. Brilliant tune. Never get tired of hearing this one.
  13. I have yet to bump into any decent 45s at a yard sale here in the States. Ocassionally there may be a decent soul 45 at a flea market, but that is not as often as I would like. At best it's LPs I'll buy to make some money on & then put towards a decent record. I did stumble on about 20 45s at a thrift shop last year, which I was quite happy about, as I never find decent 45s at thrift shops.. The 45s were a mixed bunch, from doo-wop to blues to r'n';b to soul. The soul 45s were Fred Hughes "Don't Let It Happen to Us" on Brunswick, Sam Dees "Can You Be a One Man Woman" on Chess, and Judy Freeman & Blackrock "All We Need Is A Miracle" on RCA. I sold the 2 doo-wop 45s - it paid for the lot and I had a few dollars left over.

  17. I have 2 copies of Mark Murphy "Why Don't You Do Right" 45 on black label Riverside. Unplayed old store stock, they look EX. $100 postage paid from USA. Paypal fine. Yeah, not soul, but thought some of you might be into mod jazz. Please send an e-mail to djr45 (at) comcast.net if interested. Thanks.
  18. Place your funk 45s for sale on the funk45 forum: https://www.fryer-mantis.co.uk/

  20. Quite like that tune. Going right on the want list. Thanks for posting it up.
  21. You have a website or can you let me know the future dates of your soul night? I'd like to visit Pittsburgh this summer & would like to take in some sounds while I'm there.
  22. It used alphabetically by label, but then a few years back I switched to break out by genre (soul, funk, jazz, freakbeat/mod) then alphabetically
