  1. Really, what took you so long? Mike, there is no greater accolade to a website than to have it as one's home page and I'm happy to say SS is mine. Thanks for all your (and everyone else's) hard work.
  2. That is a serious consideration Bearsy and one which I will investigate fully! P.S Buy this months's "When Saturday Comes" and check out my Cobblers pre season write up! OH and congrats to Kent on winning the 20/20!
  3. Looking at The Cobblers fixture list, we play Brighton at the Crapdean stadium on August the 18th. A nice summer excursion to the seaside beckons and even better if there is a night of soul at which to celebrate a winning start to our away campaign! (And yes, Bearsy has been giving me lessons in unfounded optimism! ) B*gger me, if there isn't a do on the week before and the week after, but nothin on that weekend, unless anyone else knows differently? Help would be appreciated.
  4. If you ent bin, I would highly recommend the Crown at Spondon Matt, for some banging R&B you don't usually hear!.
  5. I've never been mugged, beaten up (apart from football fans so that don't count!) had my property vandalized or burgled. To read our local rag, you would think it was happening all the time to everyone and I have just got very lucky. It's depressing reading. In my six short years on the scene, I have made more friends, had more superb nights out and heard more brilliant music than in the previous 25 years put together. The only trouble I know about is what I read on Soul Source. Maybe I should keep off here and bin the local rag
  6. Never heard that one before......nice tune!
  7. Blimey, me and Mr Darcy publicly agree on something!
  8. I don't know you Sean but you have my sympathy mate. It must be heartbreaking . That goes for anyone else affected by the floods.
  9. Looking forward to the whole day mate. I've only heard Tony play once and it was quite a while back but I'm hoping to hear a load of new stuff. Delivered CD last night and Sis says a big thanks!
  10. It's my home page! Sez it all really!
  11. Yes, but you're not all over the place at the same time are you? And until I was pointed out to you at the Embankment a few months back you didn't even know who I was so you are hardly likely to notice someone you don't know. Anyway, I'm not really bothered if you believe me or not as there are enough people who have seen me at the places I've mentioned but I expect you'll call them liars as well.
  12. Hearing the music throbbing through the wall as you approach a venue........always makes me want to run in!!
  13. In no particular order...... Jemco, for getting me into Northern soul and for helping me out in a way I'll never forget at a hideous time of my life. Delasoul...... We have so much in common, The music, dogs, working in education, supporting crap 3rd division sides , similar sense of humour. Tim Briggs..... Met Tim at the 100 club and have been good mates ever since, even though we live 70 miles apart.
  14. Not sure of your analogy, but...... I support my local football team Northampton Town. Been a season ticket holder for 15 years but still went on a regular basis before so most of the football I've watched has been "local". It also hasn't stopped me travelling to Darlington, Lincoln, Grimsby, Bournemouth, Torquay, Cardiff, Bristol, Oxford, Cambridge, Watford, Nottingham, Rotherham, Huddersfield, Southend, Rochdale, Wigan, Swindon Peterborough, amongst other places to see my team. And just because I watch lower league football, it doesn't mean I don't appreciate Premier league football or International football. Likewise in the 5 years or so that I have been active on the scene. Yeah, I've been to the majority of the soul nights in Northants, some on a regular basis. But I've also been to weekenders at Prestatyn, Whitby & Skegness, Nighters at Kings and Queens hall Stoke, 100 Club, Keele, Birmingham, NCSC, West Mids and Manchester, and places like Horncastle, Stamford, Peterborough, Cambridge, St Ives, Southend, London, Leicester, Luton, Bedford, Hemel Hempstead, Cannock, Bloxwich, Kidderminster, Rugby, Hatfield, Sheffield, Willington, Spondon, amongst others. I enjoy all types of soul music. Sometimes I just want to dance to stuff I know, other times I go to hear something different. In fact, I'm travelling 500 miles so that I can hear Tony Parker play at Rushden in August because I'm cutting short a trip to France to make sure I'm back for the dayer! I hope that answers your analogy!
  15. 1. People constantly banging on about other people not travelling......like how would they know unless they have fitted some sort of soul tracking device to the accused? 2. Not a hate as such but can't understand people who never or rarely dance. How do they manage to resist the music so? 3. Anyone not from Northamptonshire. (only joking) Happily, the list would be much longer if I were to list pet likes.......
  16. Apologies if this is in the wrong section.... I would have added it to the Soul picture sleeve thread but I think the info would have got lost.... I went to the Grand Designs exhibition on Sunday one one stand was selling a brilliant product. Basically it's a frame that you pop your favourite album in so you can display the artwork on your walls. Talking to the fella who run the stall (and invented it!) he said he was bringing out a frame to display singles, hence the relevance to the Soul picture sleeve thread. Apparently, he is working with Ady Croadsell to display some Kent stuff later this year at a gallery in London. There is a website www.artvinyl.com
  17. Had my artwork featured live on some BBC 1 Saturday morning kids prog a few years back....... couple of live slots on Anglia TV plus other features on Anglia news and BBC look East. One interview for French telly (don't know if it was ever broadcast) and interviewed live on telly in America about 25 times! Even had my own radio advert that a New Mexican gallery had made.....nearly crashed the car when I heard it! Hmmmmm this seems terribly like bragging but wtf!
  18. If you mean Kimbo (male) from Irchester, I have his number. PM me.
  19. I like that Pic Paul, I hope you don't mind me fiddling with the contrast to bring the colours of the scooters out......
  20. Yes, of 10 (ten) siblings, at least 7 (seven) of us are into it to a greater or lesser extent! That's got to be some sort of record .......unless of course YOU, dear reader, know different!
  21. Thanks for posting this up, what a great tune! I was really into all the Nuggets/Pebbles/Psycho garage punk stuff in the late 80's and perhaps unusually, it was my route into Northern Soul.
  22. And that's probably because of the affore mentioned absurd British licensing laws whereby you had to cram in the drinks before the bar shut at an hour dictated by laws introcuded during the first world war to ensure that muntition workers didn't return to work p*ssed.
  23. Well, if there is any more Government interference in ordinary people's lives, there will soon be a "Northern soul Czar" who will dictate where and when there should be soul nights.
  24. If having fewer soul nights is the answer, then you have just come up with solution!
