Music Meets Art
Apologies if this is in the wrong section.... I would have added it to the Soul picture sleeve thread but I think the info would have got lost.... I went to the Grand Designs exhibition on Sunday one one stand was selling a brilliant product. Basically it's a frame that you pop your favourite album in so you can display the artwork on your walls. Talking to the fella who run the stall (and invented it!) he said he was bringing out a frame to display singles, hence the relevance to the Soul picture sleeve thread. Apparently, he is working with Ady Croadsell to display some Kent stuff later this year at a gallery in London. There is a website www.artvinyl.com

People On The Soul Scene On Tv
Had my artwork featured live on some BBC 1 Saturday morning kids prog a few years back....... couple of live slots on Anglia TV plus other features on Anglia news and BBC look East. One interview for French telly (don't know if it was ever broadcast) and interviewed live on telly in America about 25 times! Even had my own radio advert that a New Mexican gallery had made.....nearly crashed the car when I heard it! Hmmmmm this seems terribly like bragging but wtf!

The Silly Season
Thanks for posting this up, what a great tune! I was really into all the Nuggets/Pebbles/Psycho garage punk stuff in the late 80's and perhaps unusually, it was my route into Northern Soul.

Northern` N Drinkin` Dont Mix,or Does It Poll
And that's probably because of the affore mentioned absurd British licensing laws whereby you had to cram in the drinks before the bar shut at an hour dictated by laws introcuded during the first world war to ensure that muntition workers didn't return to work p*ssed.

Just A Thought
Well, if there is any more Government interference in ordinary people's lives, there will soon be a "Northern soul Czar" who will dictate where and when there should be soul nights.
-
Just A Thought
If having fewer soul nights is the answer, then you have just come up with solution!

Northern Soul Events
Can't disagree with your first paragraph Baz and yes, i believe to keep it fresh for yourself, it's good to get out and about. Unfortunately, time & Money become a consideration in that respect.

Great Looking Record Labels
--> QUOTE(Mike B @ May 3 2007, 10:22 PM) link <!--quotec-->Lets kick off with this one - not sure what the record sounds like but saw it on ebay in the soul section - cracking label design, I've never seen 'Shock' labels with this design .... anyone else? Looking at all the record labels at the back of KR's top 500 has inspired me to decorate my house using some of the designs. I will post up the final results, when I eventually get round to it!

Northern Soul Events
So you can't be passionate dancing your arse off to your favourite tune if it's only a few miles away and the record isn't rare. I see! Perhaps someone should set up "Soul Miles". The more miles you travel, the more points you get and when you've got say 10,000 you get a rare record. It's like "football miles" (see freebasing) but in reverse because travelling a long way to support another team just isn't dereguer.

Northants Aggro
Every other county thinks it's "God's own" (which I suppose they all are in thier own way) which is why we are the "Rose". Good luck with Soulshakers on Saturday Dave, this is one of the events I really want to do, but can't this month!
-
Northants Aggro
I think you'll also find that 99% of the soul world don't really care what you think either Baz. You don't have to read it!

Northants Aggro

Have Love Will Travel
Inspired by Pete-S's indie thread in Freebasing, I dug out some of my 1980's indie compilation tapes and to my amazement, as I'd completely forgot about it, "Have love will travel" comes belting out the speakers courtesy of Leicester band, Crazyhead. Talk about coincidence!

"Wade in the water" refers to the slaves crossing a river from a slave state to a free state. Well, according to Radio 4!
