So you can't be passionate dancing your arse off to your favourite tune if it's only a few miles away and the record isn't rare. I see! Perhaps someone should set up "Soul Miles". The more miles you travel, the more points you get and when you've got say 10,000 you get a rare record. It's like "football miles" (see freebasing) but in reverse because travelling a long way to support another team just isn't dereguer.

Fantastic article. The juxtapostion of black American soul artists who think their careers have been for nowt and a load of fantatical white British people who seek and revere (and dance) to , as Ady Croadsell says, the b side to their biggest flops, is a facinating one. It's like we've all been having a 30 year odd party to their creations but nobody has told them! Would make a great film!

I think there are some worthy replies but my take on it is that the music is so consuming and takes over so as to obliterate anyone else in the room, thus it would be a waste of time anyone else dancing with you.
