  1. Oh aye Gogse The Americana was some place mate, not too much soul tho unless you asked the dj for it and even then it was bog standard, funny never saw any trouble there that I recall, well not with Mr Appelby on the door , had just come back from living in London and was a real flash git in my white suit so pulling birds was.....errr well quite easy but the guy I used to go with was a real troublemaker and threw into the arms of the lovely Jan , did'nt make the Leith town hall allnighter as I only stay round the corner from it, must have been away or something like that, brain was well fried in those days no change there then see you at the Web tomorrow if your going mate
  2. god's sake Gogse what a terrible tragedy can't remember any clubs on Lothian Road, nearest would have been at Fountainbridge called The Americana but that was early 70s, that's where I met my beloved
  3. Watch it Duff.....just watch it
  4. Hammy, what can I say mate, shocked, bewildered are the first two I can think of, we go back long time mate, right to the start of Souler Power in fact and Jan and I gave you 100% support, i'm not sure what's going on but please pm me if you need to talk, hope this is a knee jerk reaction and hope you will come back into the fold when your head clears a bit, until then, take care mate, Lenny
  5. Think your right there Mark, never really see this for sale, John Manship has a dj copy listed in his book at £30, one of my favourite artists.
  6. Anyone know the going rate for this record and does anyone have one for sale? thanks in advance, Lenny
  7. According to Manships guide the reissue has a stick on label and is made of styrene, the original is of a more flexible vinyl with a moulded over multi coloured label, hope this helps, Lenny
  8. I take it thats a no then!
  9. No harm in trying as i've only ever contacted one other person who used to jump around the great clubs in Edinburgh in the 60ts, McGoos, The Place, The Gamp, The Green Light, The International, The Gonk Club, Romanos, I think some folk up here are ashamed of their age!, get in touch if you were there!
  10. Seen it twice recently Tony, Shifty had for 250 and Tim Brown 300, cracking record spun up here in Scotland by John McDonald from Dundee Lenny
  11. Cheers all who replied
  12. Anyone know of a price for this?
  13. Also on the cd "Spirit of the Mecca", fantastic track!
  14. Good idea Jon!, I think he might be at the Norbreck Castle weekender at somepoint so i'll be taking my trusty snapper with me and will post it up if any luck, thought this thread had gone ages ago, great to see his fan club rise up!
  15. Had it not been for that track Gary I might have sold it on, how much does it go for these days?, I remember seeing on a few lists in the 90s but did'nt really bother about it, thanks for the info by the way
  16. Just wondering if anyone knows about this, last week while ploughing my way through a 12" section at my local Oxfam record shop I came across a plain label 12" with the only info on the sleeve being All Over The World by Chuck Jackson and Lucky Number by Ronnie McNier, for the sake of a quid I bought it and to my delight there is also a very nice version of A Case Of Too Much Lovemaking, does anyone know who this is, ok ok I know its a Levine thing but its just the info I want, not the slagging off! cheers, Lenny T
  17. Defo some kind of racket going on here Baz, can't help thinking they are all in this together, possibly trying to hype this cd up to get more sold for this silly silly price, have to say tho there's some tasty tracks on it
  18. I was kind of lucky growing up in the late 50s and early 60s, my old man played these frequently, JACKIE WILSON BEN E KING RAY CHARLES THE DRIFTERS WITH CLYDE MCPHATTER THE PLATTERS sadly he interupted these RnB greats with Jim Reeves and Perry Como, but there is no doubt about the influence it had on me, he's 83 this year and still plays them!
  19. Not you either mate, I really should'nt have posted that statement up as I know i'll get shot down in flames by his friends on this site if I reveal his name so just have to keep them guessing I suppose
  20. Tough one to track down Andy, can honestly say i've never seen one for sale but i'm sure the guy's on here will prove me wrong, would love a copy myself but stuck with my Stardust one Lenny
