  7. I saw him circa 66 or maybe 67 here in Edinburgh at a club called Mgoos, he as you say has never been taken seriously as a soulman but I can assure you he tore the flucking roof off that night with a non and I mean non stop barrage of soul covers and his own stuff, big hits in our club then were Michael and She Shot A Hole In My Soul had the place jumping,I still have both his Pye albums, a wonderful showman and of course soul man Lenny

  17. Being brought up with soul music in the 60ts I felt it had run its course in the early 70s not knowing that a club in Wigan was going on, I was married in 73 and our first house had a hotel/bar nearby, one Saturday night I noticed 2 guy's standing at the bar with holdalls with soul badges on them, politely asking them what it was all about they told me about the Casino to which i immediatly turned my nose up at , one of the guy's said he would make me a tape and sure enough it was left behind the bar for me, on getting home I eagerly put it on and was horrified at what I was hearing and dismissed it out of hand, on meeting up with them again the following week I told them it all sounded like white pop music that had been recorded in a toilet , but forgive this fool as it turned out the track listing was as follows-- Turning My Heartbeat Up Queen Of Fools The Statue Wait A Minute well you don't want to hear the rest do you? , but instead of going and sussing it out I continued to turn my nose up at it, it was'nt until the invent of the CD that I realised what i'd been missing, not just at the Casino but Wheel, Mecca etc, I rate that as one of my biggest mistakes Lenny
  18. Our Edwin...what can you say ...he was doing a pub chain PA a few years ago, not singing live but to backing tracks and as soon as he entered the building he walked right in amongst the (healthy) crowd and started talking to people, me included, you just cannot imagine that such a stalwart of soul would want to talk to you.. and he spoke to me like he had known me for years!, my wife and I were awestruck to say the least, a bit later on a club bouncer came over and handed us tickets for the VIP lounge so we were able to meet our hero again and once again he spoke to us and posed for photo's...at his insistance! , he then said to me did I have a favourite song and before I could open my mouth he "don't tell me...I Have Faith In You"...to which I just nodded...open mouthed, one of my all time hero's as so so sadly missed by all of us, see pic on attachment RIP our Edwin Lenny
  19. Just got delivery of this brilliant slab of soul from Crazy Beat, defo the best tenner i've spent on a record in a long time, how this was unreleased is anybody's guess, does anyone on here rate it?, Lenny
  20. Need these two tracks guys, one for me and one for a mate who's not online, PM me with PRICE only, thanks in advance, Lenny What More Can I Do--Larry O Your Love Is Fading--Mercury Ex- minimum condition.
  21. THE FANTAISIONS UNNECESSARY TEARS MINT £20 https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Fantais...ssary_Tears.ram Fantastic record!, deserves to be massive Lenny
  22. What a brilliant clip Pete, like Ted says this takes me way back, still got this on original UK Chess from probably day one, the label is virtually blank now!, anyone got a UK replacement? Lenny
  23. Don't agree with that i'm afraid, the last basics I was at was well attended and thought it would have been a nice touch to thank everybody for coming and this is the last record, that did'nt happen so we were in the dark as if it was finished or not, not a dig just a pointer to what i'm saying
  24. Totally agree Andy, it seems to me that dj's who don't use the mic are lacking confidence, I keep my chat to a minimum at all times but tell the crowd who it was and what the record is, I think some younger dj's are lacking maturity hence not speaking, just my opinion of course Lenny
