There's also a slight link to the beginnings of the Latino scene in the area as one of the most popular DJ's in the store window was a chap by the name of Dick 'Huggy Boy' Hugg who played R&B but later went on to champion a more Latino sound.

Here's some images of Dolphins record store. Seems it opened 24hrs in order to cater to the shipyards and armaments industry during the Korean War and drew large crowds to the store by having a 'live' DJ in the window.

Larks Philly Dog. Very happy with his recommendation. Also a copy of the Moments Don't Take Your Love From Me from Rob on the Atlantic distributed Hit issue after they picked it up. Is it Soul, is it Rock and Roll, is it a bird is it a plane. Dunno but it's fantastic to these ears.

Anyone know where information on the Money label hides on the Interwebs? thought I'd have a nosey because of an interest in The Meadowlarks/Larks and of course the sublime Make Me Yours was on the imprint. First looked at the discography on Soulful Kinda Music then dived into the web. the only thing I can get out of Goggle at the moment is the cashmoney label with 'lil ^&*%*&% Wayne or Niki Minger. The discography at Soulful Kinda piqued my interest even further as for a label that ran from '54 to around '73 they had what seems so few releases. So any info on who formed it and how it managed to run almost under the radar for so long?? Did a search on here but didn't manage to find anything so if it's just a matter of pointing me in the right direction that's good too.

Just picked up Shades Of Blue Oh How Happy on Impact for £2.50 and Spencer Davies Keep On Running on Fontana with their '78 Island EP for £6.50 the pair. Just doing cheapies so quite pleased with both purchases.

Still working his magic too, been reading through all the old lists you've posted and listening to the different versions of some known tunes that I hadn't heard of before. Found two I like. Only remember being successful once from Soul Bowl in the late 70's but can't for the life of me remember what it was, however the excitement of the lists and waiting for the record is a memory, as others have commented, that never leaves you.

Don't think you have, all the histories I've seen especially when they mention Roger Eagles or the Wheel all make a point of mentioning the fact that the early British releases led people to 'Investigate' () the wealth of American releases that never saw light of day here. Don't go anywhere any more but the awakened interest in the more R&B tracks would seem to hanker to those very beginnings.

Haven't been out and about for many years and love the 60's pre-500 track mix sound but do like Tyrone Davis' stuff. Maybe this fits, or There It Is too.

I'll have a couple of punts from out of left field. Was Call On Me Bobby Bland played out at the Wheel and such at the time? Lovely Calypso. Or how about the Traamps Scrub-board as the granddaddy of crossover 72 tune played as new and definitely not your 4 to the floor as the rest of the night would be.
