  1. Been having a natter with a poster on you tube. The green and white 'demo' soul series are they legit re-issues or is there something murkier afoot. I could only dig up a brief mention on here about an issue of a Hesitations track but no real definitive answer. If I've missed a reply 'scuse but that's all I found.
  2. Couldn't swear to it but fairly certain that was played at the Central's original Friday nights early '70's uncovered. Their early nighters too.
  3. Always remember him playing the Chandlers Your Love..... at the Zodiac club in Bradford first time I'd heard it, blew me away then and still does. He played another one he gave the name/really was an artist I'd more associate with rock or sounded like such a name. Can't recall it now but that sticks out from that time. Hell I have enough trouble remember the right tracks and artists got no chance with c/u. Sorry for rambling but just thought it might strike a chord
  4. Grabbed this DVD as soon as it came out.
  5. A bevvy of Femmes that cost me the price of a pint. What's not to like.
  6. Mike Raven (figures), but by The Mike Cotton Sound. Before you ask yes it's the interwebs and there is such a site, as well as one for every radio station jingle ever broadcast in the UK; and they call us obsessive Now what the hell do I do the rest of the day????
  7. Thanks for the quick reply Chalky. Got a hold on a Tamla 101 and according to cat45 this was the only place they were pressed before UA picked it up.
  8. It's nagging at me now though, with it being such a mod thing that some radio jock/programme used it as some sort of theme. Nice for last night, good when something goes down well.
  9. It brought this to mind straight away for me, or is it just old cloth ears here hearing what he wants to
  10. What would I be looking for in a pressing made at the ARP plant in Owossa Michigan. What stamps and matrix numbers did they carry and anything dodgy to be aware of, thanks in advance.
  11. This just blows me away. Storming and Soulful.
  12. Piano choons tearing the house down again
  13. Left the piano intro off it if memory serves me well. Think there was a problem (crack/chip), with the disc he lifted it off.
  14. Thought I'd stick it in the jukebox instead of just through the door. Lovely, lovely unplayed mint of this storming classic courtesy Mr Manship. If it doesn't move something in you get yer sen to A&E quick.
  15. Picked up a very nice demo of this. Laura Lee in a restrained mood. Might have posted it before but wth.
  16. Picked up a very tidy copy of the Esquires on a Stateside issue for £3. Didn't think that was too shabby.Got a Run While It's Dark Platters '65 for around 15 which wasn't too bad as it's unplayed. Winning some losing some as I dabble in the cheaper side of the market.
  17. Great Mecca memory for myself rather than at the Torch. Even had the cheek to ask Levine to play it once, never too keen on requests at the time if memory serves me right. Blew me away there though so was having a think about it for the memories. What would a WB copy/demo go for Chris? Had a nosy on JM but he's only got the boot up.
  18. Thanks a lot both, can't do a scan as I didn't take the plunge without asking you lot. Thought that it looked dodgy but just had to ask.
  19. Is a copy of Brown Sugar with the different Key Men design hunky dory? First time I've seen it, only seen the WB one. Blue with the logo Key Men instead of Keymen. Ta.
  20. I noticed this as I was reading about a piece of kit called the 'Sugar Cube' which purports to take the pops and clicks out of vinyl, just a heads up in case any are interested. The search term Sugar cube hi-fi will get you to a few reviews. Couldn't help but thinking whilst I read it that it had been tried before??
  21. Of course, oops! Thanks for straightening the gaffe Adey.
  22. That's my confusion. Losing brain cells by the minute but would swear it was a single side grey demo of DSAW, didn't see it as a poor man's Yvonne Baker though and took it for a tenner which raised a couple of eyebrows but I thought it worth it at the time.
  23. I'd got it into my head that the gey issues were boots. Ah well we live and learn.
  24. JM has a copy for sale in next week's auction. I bought a copy from Andy Simpson early 80's if I remember rightly. It was a single side demo but, as I remember it did not look too different to the copy John has for sale. I know George Carrow was pressed on a grey Columbia but had presumed that my grey demo was grey for the reason of being a demo. Anyone clarify the situation for me? Go easy you barbarians I spent most of the time on the dancefloor.
