  9. We went a couple of times, the last time was when someone broke in through the skylight and it pissed it down, the floor was awash with water so we sat in the bar with Jerry and drank Red Stripe & talked about his radio show. Happy days
  10. It's always nice when a Record Promoter involves you in some pre-release tracks and that's what Dave Thorley did about four or five years ago when he handed me a local release CD of new music out of Detroit. Now, some two years later, Dave & Malayka have managed to release not only tracks from that original CD but with the help from Detroit writer and arranger Tim King, have pulled together a great mix of sounds. The stand out track was and still is The Funk Factor's "Give it What Cha Got" but it's a close runner with the likes of Faschone - "Come Inside", Forte - "Anytime You Need Love" and Anita Marie Hill's "Our Flame". Modern Soul, R&B through 2step and love ballads, this album offers a great insight to the music being produced locally on theWestside of the city. From the sleevenotes you can clearly see this has gone through the hands of some notable Producers and Arrangers, seven in total and well over twenty musicians; it's goes to show the studio time these guys have put into the album. Dave say's there's two format's that the album is available; LP and CD with the LP being a limited run, so for the vinyl addicts its best to get in touch with Dave at www.topdogrecords.co.uk as quick as possible, cos these are gonna sell. Happy listening Steve Lloyd

  15. Hi All What with Jesse James visiting our shores next week for the Prestatyn Weekender, Soul Junction Records have managed to get an un-released track to us from Jesse. Jesse James - Side A - I Gave You Love With An 'A' Plus Side B - Are You Gonna Leave Me Words from the website; souljunctionrecords.co.uk Soul Junction Records have once again dug deep into the Gunsmoke Records inventory to unearth a further un- released 70's gem from the one and only Mr Jesse James. So at last we present you with the sophisticated Percy Smith and Harvey Scales penned "I Gave You Love With An A Plus" a great old school stepper with a wicked organ break to boot! The flip side features Jesse's perennial, 60's soul anthem "Are Your Gonna Leave Me" which he recorded for the US Shirley label in 1964. Both the above songs can be heard live when Jesse returns to the UK after a 25 year absence to perform a full 1 hour show at the Prestatyn Soul Weekender, March 10th - 14th 2011. Miss him at your peril! This is a public service announcement, I thank you
  16. Chris and Dave Well done, the room looks fab, good luck with this one. I won't be there for the 19th, got a family 18th party to go too and no amount of trying to get out it has worked yet Hopefully see you both before then; 5th or the 12th! Lloydee
  17. Found this on a blog from another website, can't remember who wrote it; Every release on Soul Junction Records is something to get excited about, and this album is no exception. 'A Spoonful Of Soul' is crammed with previously un-issued material from Bill Spoon, including re-mixes and full length versions. This album is a must for every soul child - superb. For me the two stand-out tracks are "Love Is On The Way" and "Thank you Baby"
