  1. Pete, brilliant footage once again. Still to this day it makes me laugh when footage from the late 6t's and early 7t's when I see a white guy in a DJ dancing to Soul Music; so out of place
  2. Naa, it's not that difficult; come drive in the car with me and I'll sing it to you I like Ross but this video and sound leave me cold; not quite the heady days of Vagas but you see the she want's to give it that big performance but knows the voice will not hold out. That Ami Whinninghouse track; a bit more enthusiasum dear, you are being paid to perform.
  3. Bloody appallying; is it me or has her voice gone?
  4. A BIG thanks to Chalky very much appreciated

  6. Come on guys, someone has got to help here!!!! My daughters hasselling me again
  7. Can't believe that no one has made a mention to this, so here goes; My lovely wife bought me a DAB radio for the office at Christmas and on opening it I duly tuned it in and started pre-tuning the normal stations and there's a new station - theJazz. A worthy replacement for the old JazzFM, playlists aren't repeated on the hour like SmoothFm and there's no inane chatter like most other stations. The playlist moves from 30/40's jazz all the way through to modern day classics but be warned; it's not soul music it's jazz of the best flavour. It turns out that theJazz launched on Dec 25th so I was gifted with two nice surprises on Christmas Day. Take a listen, it's on SKY and tinternet at www.thejazz.com for on-line listening.
  8. Have to agree with Steve P on the Bobby Hutton track, miss & you'll regret it Paul's service on sending out the singles is spot on, bought the Hutton promo on a Monday and was playing it the following day, fab lloydee (Pisces)
  9. I know it's a wierd one but my daughter needs it for a piece at school. MP3 of the Martin Luther King speech's as featured on the Motown LP's, these are the only ones I can think of. I'd expect that due to size they'd need posting, so I'll send a SAS with a couple of blank CD's in. Many thanks
  10. Whilst starting pack the house & office up ready to move soon I've tried to be ruthless and throw away the 'old stuff', I've been quite successful so far with just the rubbish you gather, thinking it'll come in handy one day but five years later it's not been used. Anyway, one good thing has come out of it; I've found loads of old Soul related stuff, flyers, Yate stuff etc and these tickets dropped out of a book today. Anyone go to these? Stevie Wonder 1984 George Benson 1984 Stevie Wonder 1989 I've got some Prince tickets and after party stuff as well somewhere but where, gowd knows!
  11. All I remember was she was tall and blond with great assets; for that I thank you
  12. Glyn Come on do tell; who was the Top Northern DJ that demanded the Russian hooker? Don't hold back now Crackin' idea, good luck with it
  13. Mark Nothing spoilt, I was just wondering if it was me or were others who listen thro tinternet having the same problem. Right, where's the baseball bat for them gremlins....... Still a bloody good show, keep it up for 2007
  14. Hi All Is/was it me or my PC but was Mark's Soul Show this evening a bit low on the left channell? I couldn't listen as a new Waking The Dead was on, sorry Mark, so recorded the show but the levels on the left channell were all over the place; the first hour was down by 8bd and the second by 3db. I've leveled them up but was just wondering if it's me! Look forward to listening to the show tomorrow
  15. How about Little Anthony & the Imperials or Patti Austin, Nancy Wilson & Betty Harris. All these have toured in the US during 2006, even if they came over and done a handful of evenings like Candi Staton did, I'd travel the miles
  16. Some new photo's and flyers, only found these coz we're moving house in the new year and I'm sorting one of the loff's out, must say I'm determined to find my South Of England T-Shirt. 2nd Anniversary Ticket P&D's Yate Revival - read the contents and smile; reputation of northern soul! Solid Oldies All-Dayer - I think this was early Eighties
  17. Jon, for those that won't be able to make it, will you do photo's etc as a follow up to the main artical? Plus; why does it take the Swiss to do an art's expo like this or do the London Galleries or others to that matter not see this as a welcomed feature? Just a thought I say well done to Lorenzo & Jon, perhaps Lorenzo can be persuaded to bring the presentation to the UK.
  18. Malverns popular Charity Soul Night in aid of Motor Neurone Disease, this is a well attended Soul Night with between 300 & 350 people attending. Again a ticket only event, so please look at the website for information on how to obtain tickets and the dates they go on sale. 19. Dickens Cider.mp3 - dickins cider - 12889 refosoul I know I shouldn't but this sorta fit's in with the theme. To those that heard this in the summer; tuff and to those that haven't heard it - enjoy
  20. Just some info on Frankie & Johnny - I'll Hold You: We went to a Blue Night last night to especially see Maggie Bell, now Ms Bell has not toured for twenty years so it was a surprise and a delight to see her perform. I can report she's still got a great voice, at 61 she can still knock a tune out. Now here's the info; Rob Hurcomb & John Farrell hung around afterwards, one to talk to her and two so Rob could get his Decca 7" signed. Maggie Bell confirmed that this was her first released record and had heard rumours while living in Antwerp that it was getting play's in the UK. She also informed to Rob & John that Johnny, real name Bobby Kerr, had since died in a moped accident in London. Both Maggie & Bobby are credited with writing the song, hence the Kerr, Bell. Johnny Harris, Shirley Bassey's band arranger, was involved with the production; this is why the track has that crisp big band sound. Where was I when all these questions were being asked, at the Bar with girls, where else! A nice bit of music trivia for a Wednesday.
  21. Mischief That's your back badroom and the turntable not going around: that's not the best chrimbo pressy you've given us
