  1. Got Eddie & Ernie - Indication - Jayboy plus Lou Johnson - Unsatisfied - UK London for £3 the pair from a shop in Boscombe nr Bournemouth.Wonder if it was same one as the Bobby Wilburn record.Think shop was called The Jive Dive. Dave.
  2. Stafford for me.Moved down south, new job so getting time off was impossible.Loved the Mecca before it went disco.Wigan wasn't bad either. Dave.
  3. We've had this overkill problem lately down here in Bournemouth, but having spoken to a couple of promoters who also run do's we're going to provide each other with dates so that there wont be any more problems. Having said that I see in December there's already a do on the 1st.Got ours on the 15th so we'll see what happens.I've got my dates sorted for next year so will pass them on and see what happens. In a town where 99% of the public don't know or care about soul nights you can see what we're up against. Dave.
  4. Hey Doc, Picked a copy of this up couple of months ago from the states for £75.Will pm guys details to you.He may be able to get a copy.Mine's on USA but think it came out on another label as well. Fantastic record by the way. Dave.
  5. Dave, I think its some of the crowd we get down here.Unfortunately they're used to the same old stuff.Would dearly love to change their ways and educate them in more recent finds.Yes, sorry my point came across the wrong way.I wasn't implying that. Dave.
  6. Been following this thread closely.Reason why is that I've just taken over running a soul night down here in Bournemouth.I've been covering the 1st 30/45 min spot then the last 30min spot. Do I book dj's who will play originals or dj's who have boots but can get people dancing or go for both and risk upsetting one or the other? In an ideal world I'd love to have dj's who play originals and get people up but knowing how some of the locals are down here do I carry on with my policy of originals or turn a blind eye.More food for thought. By the way excellent post Mr C.Spot on. Dave
  7. And were they made for walking.Sorry couldn't resist. Dave
  8. Sold mine on ebay for around £10.Was happy with that as only paid 50p for it. Dave.
  9. Morning all, Am looking for couple of oldies.Original copies please in Ex or better condition. Williams & Watson - Too Late Little Richie - Just Another Heartache - SS7 (I think) Pretty sure copies i've seen on Seventy 7 are reissues. Many thanks Dave.
  10. Just dug this out and played it.Gone straight into dj box for saturday night. Dave.
  11. Which Karen? Only Karen I know is Soulgirl and haven't had any myself. Dave.
  12. The Temptations - Save My Love For A Rainy Day. Off The Temps LP - With A Lot Of Soul. Better than Van Dykes IMHO. Dave.
  13. I've had a punter come up to me at one of our do's with an A4 sheet of paper with list of tracks on,both sides I might add.Played a few for him as it was end of night and he did get up and dance. Also got asked for "Just Like Romeo & Juliet " at one do by some people dancing round their handbags.Said I hadn't got it but thought the next dj might. He didn't but they asked for "The Snake" and he took out of his sales box and played it. Dave.
  14. Had some great nights there myself.First time we came up from Bournemouth it seemed to take forever with traffic and weather being awful, but parked up walked into Boston Arms and all was well with the world. One thing that'll stay with me forever was the mens toilets.'Nuff said methinks. Dave.
  15. Pm'ed you. Dave
  16. Never really thought about this until now.As doing a bit more dj'ing albeit locally you still have people coming up to decks to see what's on. I've got one of those security straps as needed it for siutcase when I went to States last year - easier than letting their customs break into it. Will certainly use it now. Dave.
  17. Got this on a PIR cd.Features 5 tracks including Somebodys Gotta Move and The Love I Lost.Came out October 2000. Dave.

  25. I may be wrong here but didn't Ian Levine play this at Blackpool Mecca as the so called vocal to "Bok To Bach" by Fathers Angels. Both white bands i'm thinking.Or is my mind playing tricks. Dave.
