Calling All Southern/south Coast Soulies
Dave Morris replied to Russ Vickers's topic in All About the SOUL
Just found this thread. As promoter of the Bournemouth Uni nights I feel in my opinion that we have got the mix of music and dj's about right. We have a lovely small venue with a healthy crowd every couple of months. We play anything from the 60's through to Y2K and all on original vinyl only. What we're up against is other venues playing the same old oldies.Yes they may pack them in but are they all soulies. We've been going for almost 4 years now and have slowly built up a loyal following. Someone mentioned trying to get all the promoters together.Well good luck to you as we've tried and apart from two other venues they don't want to know. Hope you're well Russ and have an enjoyable birthday. Dave. -
OVO is the only policy we have at "On The Soul Side" at Bournemouth Uni.Plus the "Ghetto Soul" boys up in Southampton play OVO.
-
Thats certainly correct Mike..I've played there in the past and thats their policy.Original Vinyl Only.Top man all round Mr Lyster.

Great tune Paul.Picked mine up after Mick Lloyd put me on to it in April. He reminded me again in Sept when he played it at Weston.Got one few days after. We could be a lot better.I've got a sore foot and Viv hurt herself at work.H & S went into overdrive.
-
Many thanks Paul for selling it to me.Still love it even now. Dave
-
Dean, Mick has posted an explanation on south west soul forum.Shame as have had some great nights there.
-
Looking at that photo Chalky he reminds me of Robert Wagner (the actor).

I always contact the seller to let them know record has arrived and leave a comment when possible. As you say its just being polite and unfortunately that seems to have gone out of society in general. Case in point, bought a record and when it arrived was cracked right across.Emailed seller who said keep the records and sent my money back. Record plays great and that to me is service. Didn't buy record on here by the way.
