  1. I don't know why, but when I play this record it takes me back to a time when I ? https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Chubby_Chec...At_Tomorrow.ram Does a certain record evoke memories for you?
  2. One of the best things that ever happened in my life. I would love to discover it for the first time, all over again. Maybe someone else will, and I envy them that task - I wish it was me.. Keep the faith, good music never dies.
  3. I am in awe of wonder at the imagination of the writers and producers of these fine records. Imagine, trying to convey your idea to a session musician. "Well, you strike this cow bell" and "Rattle that chain" Wonderful, I wish that I had been a fly on the wall at just one of these recording sessions.
  4. THE TOMANGOE'S - THE STEINWAYS - THE DEL-LARKS - THE VONETTES I love the unusual approach made to the intro - The Del-Larks being the classic example THE DEL-LARKS - JOB OPENING https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Del_Lar...Job_Opening.ram heres another THE CHALFONTES - HE LOVES ME https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Chalfon...He_Loves_Me.ram and some that just pick you up from the start and leave you in a crumpled heap in a corner after a couple of attempted back flips. THE LOVETTES - LITTLE MISS SOUL https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Lovette...e_Miss_Soul.ram I still get that hairs on the back of neck tingle when these records are played. or the slow, anticipation of a classic instrumental EARL WRIGHT - THUMB A RIDE https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Earl_Wright...humb_A_Ride.ram or the ease you in to the record approach ALDORA BRITTON - DO IT WITH SOUL https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Aldora_Brit...t_With_Soul.ram All magic in their own way
  5. One of the earliest & longest intros - "HEATWAVE" Brilliant
  6. I had a similar experience, although luckily no damage. I bought a copy of "(AT THE) DISCOTHEQUE" on Parkway from the states - very poor scan It arrived in an old LP Cover and envelope, just floating around the cover. When opened it turned out to be the rarer "(DO THE) DISCOTHEQUE" on Styrene How it survived was amazing.
  7. Thanks for the explination of the Matrix - Mine has this Matrix although I didn't fully decribe it in my reply. i.e. Large reversed S with C and R
  8. Hi My copy was bought from Soul Bowl in the 1970's, i haven't seen another copy to compare either styrene or boot. I hope the following helps you. Mine is just short of Ex condition, I would imagine that a Mint one would look "too NEW to be true" as mine holds it's age well the white is brilliant It is on Vinyl and has the Glossy Label - ATLANTIC - Red & White DEMO - 45-2893 (P) 1972 Atlantic - Just above the address at the bottom of the Label POINTER SISTERS The A Side PLUG SIDE "DESTINATION NO MORE HEARTACHES" If you hold the record and read the Deadwax - It has (NEATLY SCRATCHED IN) small "A - 23116 - 2" at 6 O'Clock A Matrix mark at 5 O'Clock and "AT" at 3 O'Clock The B Side "SEND HIM BACK" If you hold the record and read the Deadwax - It has (NEATLY SCRATCHED IN) small "A - 23115 - 2" at 6 O'Clock A Matrix mark at 12 O'Clock and "AT" at 2 O'Clock I hope this helps
  9. Hi Has anyone, any information on the history of this release. Also any Idea of Value DEMO & Stock Copy, which is the rarer of the two. I have a feeling that the Stock Copy is rarer, as I haven't seen another copy. Having said that DEMO's also appear scarce. Butch Baker - Batman At The Go-Go / Robin At The Go-Go - St Lawrence 1010 Was it just a question of copyright, as they even re-recorded and changed the issue number to 1011 for Working At The Go-Go / The Fat Man
  10. Hi I have often wondered about the releases during the 60's. Who decided to release for instance "Whats Wrong With Me Baby" and not "Skiing In The Snow" In fact who decided on any of the soul releases, or was it virtually a random sample of USA releases that they gained the rights to via some of the pop hits Which Label would you say now with hindsight was the most Influential. I would have to say the Stateside Label Anyone?
  11. It is isn't it - For many years I only had 2 records by the Incredibles in my collection. which were; Audio Arts 60006 There's Nothing Else To Say / Another Dirty Deal.- White DEMO and Audio Arts 60006 There's Nothing Else To Say / Another Dirty Deal - Light Green stock copy I then realised that there was a (Pre Amy Mala Bell) White DEMO & Dark Blue stock copy, which I still haven't got. I proceeded to purchase the Heart and Soul album and WOW how did I miss the rest. I started to collect their other stuff on 45 and I like "I Found Another Love" (which also came out on Dark Blue & Green Labels) They were Indeed - Incredible and so much to collect too - Wonderful stuff, something for everyone
  12. Definitely, shop around ... In my opinion they didn't make a bad record. Iv'e been trying to remember about this as we used to play There's Nothing Else To Say at our Local Youth Club (we played almost 100% soul music, way back in 1969) - One of the other DJs had it on Stateside (Sadly not me) which had Heart and Soul on the B Side Then an Import copy became available on Audio Arts and as I remember, the flip "Another Dirty Deal" was played a couple of times - In those days though, Imports were fairly hard to obtain and most, if lucky enough, would have had it on Stateside and not Audio Arts As time went by although not an easy one to obtain more copies became available with this track on the B Side. I used to, along with others DJ at our local, "The Drum" and carried up to 3 cases of records gaining more and more Imports as time went by; Audio Arts 60006 being one of them The Instrumental Era saw "There's Nothing Else To Say" come out as an Instrumental and was obviously played Almost all of us had progressed from the Youth Club days through to Wigan, Cleethorpes etc We played almost everything that we could from these venues, I remember spending most of my wages on records at the time. There was that much being discovered and as good as this track is I can't remember it played at our soul night. However having said all that, I can't say if "Another Dirty Deal" was definitely played at Wigan, but if it wasn't it should have been.
  13. Agree, as are some of their others All available on 45 or Heart & Soul Album There are more but for anyone who hasn't heard them for a while AUDIO ARTS 60006 - THE INCREDIBLES - THERE'S NOTHING ELSE TO SAY https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Incredi...Else_To_Say.ram AUDIO ARTS 60006 - THE INCREDIBLES - ANOTHER DIRTY DEAL https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Incredi..._Dirty_Deal.ram AUDIO ARTS 60007 - THE INCREDIBLES - I FOUND ANOTHER LOVE https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Incredi...nother_Love.ram AUDIO ARTS 60010 - THE INCREDIBLES - I CAN'T GET OVER LOSING YOUR LOVE https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Incredi...g_Your_Love.ram AUDIO ARTS 60016 - THE INCREDIBLES - MISS TREATMENT https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Incredi...s_Treatment.ram Quality I have been trying to collect this group over the years, the different label variations being something of a challenge, but most can be obtained at quite a low cost, value for money every time I'd say. i.e. WHITE DEMO - DARK BLUE - LIGHT GREEN - MULTICOLOURED - PRE (AMY MALA BELL), etc
  14. I haven't bought the Kent CD yet, although it will be one of my next purchases. I was refering to the goldmine cd & records on Mirwood There is definately a difference on my system. I setup for any other CD switch on the surround sound and although I can hear the surround in operation, the surround sound speakers really come to life when I play Mirwood tracks. This became evident as, at first when I bought the speakers, I was a little disappointed with them. Then one day I put the Mirwood CD on and couldn't believe it.
  15. As I have mentioned before I already have Night Owl on a Monarch Press - Styrene ( The same as the 47 pictured ) I also have the DEMO - Vinyl The question again for me is; Considering that it was Bobby's private collection ...... Does an Original DEMO exist on the Monarch press - Styrene.
  16. About 18 years ago I bought a Kenwood Hi Fi system with surround sound speakers added soon after. When I play any Mirwood CD / Record, the surround sound really comes to life. All of the Mirwood label was recorded before surround sound was popularised or even thought of, so I wondered, did Mirwood use different studio equipment to everyone else or did they record at a different level in the studio. Has anyone else noticed this?
  17. Dee Dee, and heres why; Worth Every Tear I Cry https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Dee_Dee_War...r_I_Cry.ram We're Doing Fine https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Dee_Dee_War...ng_Fine.ram and two for the price of one on 45, my most recent purchase ... Don't You Ever Give Up On Me https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Dee_Dee_War...ve_Up_On_Me.ram We've Got Everything Going For Us https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Dee_Dee_War...thing_Going.ram and there's more ................ BRILLIANT
  18. I believe that there are a couple of CD's about on ebay at the moment containing Dee Dee Warwicks work.
  19. Dee Dee Warwick - Awsome
  20. In the Early days when I was young "Walk On By" & "Reach Out For Me" etc caught my attention and I thank Dionne ( & Baccarach/David) for that, however .......... I have to say that Dee Dee definately has the edge if I had to choose. I have, in recent years bought quite a few of Dee Dee Warwicks records. Every one superb.
  21. Hi Mark I have a British DEMO of this one; UNITED ARTISTS - UP 2230 - VINCE EDWARDS - COUNTRY DURHAM DREAM / IT`S THE SAME OLD SONG I believe that it was released, but I'm not sure how many copies were sold?
  22. Eddie Parker - But If You Must Go
  23. One of my favourites too BOTH SIDES I can still remember hearing the B side for the first time, thinking that it was just the instrumental to the A Side, then the Magic moment when the Vocal comes in again .... WOW One of the classic openings for me, and one of the longest ................................. HEATWAVE
  24. Wonderful record this, I tried a couple of times to obtain a Pink Demo in the 70s, I ended up being fortunate to find an issue. At the time I didn't realise that it was the rarer of the two. Either way great record, hard to find, well done. Oh and as far as price is concerned, to me priceless.
