  1. Hi The original is a touch deeper yellow than an M-G-M Demo. It is on Vinyl, has a 17mm Deadwax from label to playing area and of course the "Nashville Matrix" in the Deadwax. Although not Mint mine has a clean Label hence comparison to M-G-M Demo. An aged Label, poor lighting etc on a scan and it becomes difficult to tell. It really does come down to the deadwax & Matrix.
  2. Hi If necessary I use antibacterial - all purpose wipes - on the vinyl - then rinse under the tap. (Always take care with label) In extreme cases I have used ORDINARY toothpaste and soft brush, again rinsing under the tap. Do not over do it, as toothpaste is a mild abrasive. The rule of thumb with any cleaning method is to be careful , espesially with the label. Test any cleaning method on a record that you don't care about first, if you are in any way unsure.
  3. Hi Tony Yes, I remember seeing them on TOTP with "Mama Never Told Me"
  4. I know, I only spotted it this morning along with tracks by the precisions such misery etc, and Dean Courtney.
  5. There's this one; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udXjRvyi64w...northern%20soul
  6. Hi Adam There are others that have been issued in this way, as double A Side but with a standard label. I would consider them to be difficult to obtain although I'm not sure why they were issued like this. I've got; The Elgins - Heaven Must Have Sent You - VIP 25037 Jr Walker - I'm A Road Runner - Soul S-35015 The Temptations - Get Ready - Gordy G-7049 The Contours - It's So Hard Being A Loser - Gordy G-7059 Isley Brothers - Got To Have You Back - Tamla T-54146 The Momitors - Since I Lost You Girl - VIP 25039 Don't think they're easy, as In my experience they don't appear often. All have correct Matrix Stamps in Deadwax. Have seen, but missed, (Outbid) Isley Brothers - Take Some Time Out For Love - Tamla The Velvelettes - These Things Will Keep Me Loving Me Loving You - Soul Frances Nero - Keep On Lovin' Me - Soul
  7. It might be, is it Styrene - as it looks like it could be from the scan. I had heard the Styrene was meant to be tougher to find on the issue too.
  8. Hi Dave These are the only 3 Laurie DEMO's in my collection, I have had them since the 1970's, and all are Multicoloured. LR-3340 THE CHIFFONS - SWEET TALKIN' GUY - Stamped Matrix - T4KM-4274-1A LR-3381 HOAGY LANDS - THE NEXT IN LINE Stamped Matrix - U4KM- 0901 - - 1A LR-3418 - DEAN PARRISH - I'M ON MY WAY Stamped Matrix - U4KM - 0865 - - 1C All are on Vinyl & Are Advance Release I believe that there is a Styrene copy which may be the one on Pete French - site MothsinWallet - but is also Multicoloured and is a Promotional Copy. I hope this helps https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Hoagy_Lands...ext_In_Line.ram
  9. No problem Ian, always happy to help, and I agree, storming tunes.

  11. Hi I have just found a current Value for the DEMO - https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/46184/BAKER,_BUTCH Anyone know of any information or value for the Issue. The reason I ask is that Manship's book states DEMO only @ £200 Not selling, Just curious as I have the Issue & DEMO for 1010 or Any other information on the DEMO as it was obviously withdrawn, re-recorded and re-issued as 1011
  12. QUOTE(Geoff B @ May 20 2006, 04:54 PM) link Is mine a reissue?Dark blue with 2 lines across. Geoff.
  13. Hi Ian There are different label variations on both the Karen & Valise copies as described, but these are the copies that I have KAREN 45-1533 DJ (This one is a Styrene Monarch Delta 65103) K-11440-1 (This is without the ATCO address) - 2 Lines KAREN 45-1533 (This one on Vinyl) K-11440-11 (This is with the ATCO address) - 2 Lines VALISE 6900-A (This is the thicker/heavier Vinyl copy with BOLD LABEL) - 1st Release - There is a deeper red - thin vinyl copy which is also an original - 2nd Release .https://www.popsike.com/php/detaildata.php?itemnr=4816980617 RCA Victor 47-8960 DJ Stamped Matrix TPKM 4163 - - 2 s RCA Victor 47-8960 Stamped Matrix TPKM 4163 - - 3 All are originals, however as stated the Karen (Lined, Unlined etc) and Valise (Thickness of vinyl - heavier vinyl rarer) do have different variations. The RCA stock copies do tend to be Rarer than the DEMO However; The Orange RCA's are re-issues. (RCA 1034) I hope that this helps https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Soul_Tw...ange_Artist.ram https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Soul_Tw..._Chance.ram https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Frank_Dell_...de_Open.ram https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Roy_Hamilto...ver_You.ram
  14. TONE I can't believe we did that, I had just been searching the net and found the site - posted - and read your reply ............... Brilliant!
  15. I know that I am about to answer my own post here but I didn't realise until I had posted that this link existed - https://www.txhighlands.com/titjepisodes.htm It was the post on "Stop Breaking My Heart" that got me thinking. Some artists here; Nancy Wilson, Bobby Goldsboro, Leslie Uggams, Barbara McNair, Eloise Laws, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, The Supremes. Eloise Laws - Night Owl (Is it the same song)? or Bobby Goldsboro - I'm A Drifter ? Ella Fitzgerald, of course Aretha as previously mentioned by Tony I wonder if the shows still exist or are available.
  16. Tom Jones TV Show during the 60's / 70's I seem to remember Tom singing with Wilson Pickett. One of the few white artists that could survive, during such a performance. Can anyone remember any other soul artists on his show.
  17. Thanks TONE Once again a quality explaination which clears things up a lot. This copy may be the one that entered "folklore" as the rare Vinyl copy which muddied the waters, and the one that I read about somewhere. You gave a very concise explaination to another post on UK-Labels Stateside for Instance Who Chose - and which 60's Label most influential /index.php?showtopic=28438 that I posted recently. Sadly this reply appears to have been lost when the forum went down. I was lucky to have printed it out before this happened, so thanks again, Invaluable info.
  18. It looks like the Atco 70'sRe-Issue- https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/64105/SOUL+TWINS
  19. I am not sure about this, something in my memory about the existance of a GENUINE VINYL Ric-Tic RT-109 still haunts me. I just can't remember where I saw it though. Is there a Vinyl copy out there with the usual styrene Label Design? As I recall, it was described as extremely rare on Vinyl. If I am right, does anyone know what it looks like? We appear to have ruled this copy out, and I can only bow to the knowledge on this. My questions are; If this is a boot, why are so few about, because whoever made the boot must have lost out big time. Has the record ever been so difficult to obtain, in order to create the demand for the bootleggers - (after all, in Britain alone, it was issued twice on polydor, and also Tamla Motown) Could someone confirm the possible existance of a genuine Vinyl copy?
  20. I certainly haven't seen a US release for this one. If there isn't a US release, then there should have been. A BRILLIANT RECORD. I saw Jimmy James perform on stage many years ago and met him after the show. He put a lot into his performance as I recall, one of our finest soul singers, residing in Britain.
  21. Does anyone know which Ric-Tic's were issued on vinyl. I always thought that "Stop Her On Sight" was available on the rarer vinyl. If so has anyone a Label scan or info.
  22. There were some Ric-Tic records issued on vinyl as apposed to styrene. I am not sure whether the label design is different on the vinyl copies though, as they are quite rare. I do have a couple of vinyl Impact records which do have a similar sheen to the label as yours does, and I have seen one of the later Ric-Tic numbers "SHOW TIME" with a different font. Mmm. Is your copy on vinyl, and is the Matrix Stamped or scratched?
  23. This record helps me to get my feet on back on the ground. It transports me back to my younger days, but leaves me wanting for more, . Long may northern soul live on
  24. I could be a rich man if I sold up now, But I realised how rich I am, just in time.
