  1. Hi There are some interesting finds on canadian labels. Sparton, Early Tamla (Vinyl - Better sound quality) and as you mention some of the Okeh stuff but on Epic. The Early Canadian Yellow Tamla releases that I have seen come from the various Motown Labels and carry the USA number prefix
  2. Hi I suppose that years later, the records that we now love to collect were once the result of someones daily routine in a pressing plant little realising, or caring about such things. It's nice when years later, records such as "Shades of Blue" - Relatively cheap to pick up - can be collected in it's various original format Vinyl/Styrene. The Styrene was expected and sits nicely in my collection amongst the others, however, as has been stated on previous threads - The Vinyl can often have a better sound quality. Brilliant when there is a Matrix Stamp, as it becomes a confident purchase, but it goes to show how varied some of the Titles are. Difficult if there are bootlegs about and you are about to spend a bit - Makes collecting a challenge at times. Even after all these years, I have bought a record expecting Styrene and when it arrives -"Oh it's on Vinyl" ......... You never ever stop learning in this game
  3. Hi You are probably right, I think The East/West coast production could be the answer, as although not from the same group of labels I have ZTSC STAMPED Matrix Left=Vinyl -------------------- DEMO=STYRENE -------------------- Right=Styrene All have STAMPED Matrix I have also some Amy Mala Bell Product on Styrene & Vinyl Matrix STAMPED - (Dyno-Voice) Once again The Vinyl appears harder to get and another instance of a label which is otherwise mostly Styrene throughout it's catalogue.
  4. Hi Everyone I don't know if the answer is well known but I was wondering Has anyone any Idea why some of the Columbia ZSP appear on Vinyl ---------------------- ZSP135536-1B ---------------------------------------- J ZSP135536-1C ------------------------------------------ ZSP135536-1A -------------------- The RED Stock copy on the Left is on Vinyl - The DEMO and other RED Stock copy are on Styrene. I have Included the STAMPED Matrix for each - I know that the J ZSP = DEMO, but does the A, B, or C mean anything and why a few on Vinyl? I have sometimes seen listed White & Black Columbia DEMO's (i.e.Dana Valery) Described as "Rarer". https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/rarest-of-the-rare/15 It's hard enough to get the Red & White DEMO on STYRENE - (Dana Valery). Is this where the White & Black Columbia DEMO's come from & are they on Vinyl. This applies to Epic etc although some I know are boots, the ones I mean have a STAMPED Matrix ZSP# Regards Roger
  5. I have a few for sale, allsorts over the next few weeks, I have usually got something for sale, I am still collecting, but I have some that are duplicated and I am also currently looking through, streamlining the collection. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
  6. And another https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Chalafo...He_Loves_Me.ram I Immediately bought this classic tune, Priceless
  7. Another that takes me back https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Vonette...ch_My_Heart.ram The person that introduced me to this gem, is sadly no longer with us. However, I still remember the day that I first heard this brilliant record and can't thank that person enough. One from your collection amongst Many A favourite of mine still, to present day ..... The hairs at the back of my neck still tingle when I hear this.
  8. I'm right and you're right I look at it this way Would you rather have a photograph of the Mona Lisa or the Mona Lisa. The artist in many cases is long gone, , so the 45 is the next best thing, (ALTHOUGH It's what's in the groove that does come first) I collect what I like and I like what I collect, If it is valuable, well, that is just a happy coincidence.
  9. I look at todays music, and they (all too often) look to us for inspiration
  10. I don't quite know why, but when I hear this record, I am right back there. https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Chubby_Chec...At_Tomorrow.ram Is there a record that does it for you?
  11. The true value of Northern Soul will live on Good Music - NEVER DIES
  12. Hi CONSTELLATION C-149 - NOTHING CAN STOP ME / THE BIG LIE - GENE CHANDLER Both of these have Matrix Stamps in the Deadwax - Both Sides - and are therefore Original At the time of purchase, I was told that the Blue & White Stock Copy was a Local issue? The following doesn't have any Matrix Stamp in the deadwax SO I'm not 100% sure However, the "common, scratched in serial numbers" look identical? All three records are Vinyl and have (Two Common serial numbers in the deadwax) - which are identical - by the same hand. On each of the copies a further serial number has been added - by a different hand I can only assume that this Title has been issued a few times in it's day. I don't know if anyone has any information about this Label as I have seen Yellow Label stock copies for certain releases, as well as the Blue Label stock copy.
  13. Hi Alan, Hi Nick CONSTELLATION C-161 - JUST LIKE THE WEATHER / DON'T USE ME - NOLAN CHANCE Mine are also Vinyl with C65-279 plus Matrix stamp etc I have checked the deadwax on the two scanned copies, and the Stock Copy & DEMO have Identical marks. https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Nolan_Chanc...The_Weather.ram I hope this helps.

  18. Hi It looks like we posted at the same time, My copy has a Stamped O which I took to be a very faint MR Matrix, as it has the delta number The o'clocks work out the same depending from which one you start from Mine was also bought as an original at the same time as I aquired RENFRO 112 - A CASE OF LOVE / YOU'RE ALL I NEED - SEQUINS On the same Pink Label, vinyl & the Monarch stamp is a little more visible
  19. Hi Denny This is a scan of my copy, it is on vinyl; RENFRO 115 YOU'RE ALL I NEED / THAT GIRL Looking at the deadwax it has a Monarch Delta "#62277-X" @ 6 o'clock A faint "monarch matrix stamp" @ 8 o'clock And "R-430-B" @ 10 o'clock I don't now if other pressing plants were used as well, but Hope this helps you
  20. Sorry, I forgot, we must be due a reality cooking makeover quiz of horrors program - which is obviously more important. Why Soul Music gets such a raw deal on TV escapes me; For Example, when "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown" was on TV recently it was buried away on on Satelite BBC3 or 4 and not advertised as well as it could have been. Why not Saturday night BBC1 or 2?
  21. I wish they would, all we ever get (If we're lucky) are interupted clips. I would love to see more like this available on TV or for Sale on DVD. Soul music on TV including complete footage such as this, YES PLEASE.
  22. Hi I've always liked Big Maybelle; 96 TEARS https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Big_Maybelle_-_96_Tears.ram BLACK IS BLACK https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Big_Maybell...s_Black.ram She even takes a well known record and stamps her style on it, or else......... ( BRILLIANT ). I just want to listen, because she puts her raw, gutsy vocals down - One Awesome Lady She can do no wrong I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Big_Maybell...t_No_Longer.ram QUITTIN' TIME https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Big_Maybell...n'_Time.ram YESTERDAY'S KISSES https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Big_Maybell...days_Kisses.ram DOING TO ME https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Big_Maybell...Doing_To_Me.ram LET ME GO https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Big_Maybelle_-_Let_Me_Go.ram BAD TROUBLE https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Big_Maybell...Bad_Trouble.ram I've got 96 Tears on a DEMO and I Just can't Wait Any Longer / Quittin' Time on an issue STILL collecting as we speak. And Betty Lavette - Let Me Down Easy - GOOD CALL, another natural talent Link it to a Commercial, or film and it would chart, no problem, in my opinion. I have recently seen her perform this on a Northern DVD. - AN INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE from one Incredible Lady I could just imagine her on TOTP Signing off, for the #th WEEK At Number One - BRILLIANT LET ME DOWN EASY https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Betty_Lavet...e_Down_Easy.ram AND not forgetting; I'M HOLDING ON https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Betty_Lavet..._Holding_On.ram
  23. Hi John We are at times a close relation to country music; I remember picking this one up in a second hand shop years ago, because it was on M-G-M Diane Landry MGM 13656 7" If you can't hold your man The records arrangement almost has a Northern feel to it. Obviously nothing like the Wonderful "Queen Of Fools" by Barbara Mills who I believe is a country artist?
  24. This one; https://cgi.ebay.com/NORTHERN-SOUL-YVONNE-B...1QQcmdZViewItem Original East Coast Design with "Frankford/Wayne" in the Deadwax.
