  1. Hi I just noticed a very slight label variation on this one so I've scanned it in.
  2. Hi It came out on Grapevine GRP 107 here in the UK Just to save any confusion, if you are looking for the U.S.A. copy, this is the Label to look out for. As already mentioned there is another version called "My Conscience" by "The Lovelites" which is different to the one that you are after.
  3. Hi The image shouts at me, be careful. With modern equipment - How could you get such a low quality image? Seen better quality logos on a fax. I hope it's genuine but in my experience - I've never seen an early WB DEMO Double A If it's an in house Acetate/One off then ?, but the image ........ mmm The seller should invest in a good camera or scanner
  4. Hi Joan Thanks, CD arrived yesterday and It's brilliant, I'm in your debt. Only had chance to listen to half of It as I was working last night. Looking forward to listening to It in full later today, Thanks again.
  5. Hi Me too, I am trying to keep the main collection
  6. Sorry about that mate, done the same thing with some other records that I now regret selling. Jock Mitchell Stock Copy, Luther Ingram Green Stock Copy as I had just got the HIB DEMO etc
  7. Hi I've got the White DEMO in the collection, here's a scan. I hope this helps
  8. Hi At the end of the day, whatever The Chalfontes is worth, It's a brilliant record. Always been, and always will be, one of my favourites.
  9. Hi I have scanned my copies of the original DEMO & Stock copy for The Chalfontes. It was re-issued on the Skyscraper Design Mercury Label in the 70's. I hope this helps.
  10. Hi Simon No, but it got me thinking. Just how many times has this been issued, that is if you count the Green Beacon copy which I used to have, Cream, Inferno, Collectables etc That isn't counting overseas On that subject check this out https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/88290/SHOW+STOPPERS Were The Show Stoppers & The Four Perfections the same group? They were on the same label, if they were the same group, I honestly didn't know - Can anyone confirm this.
  11. Hi We have recently discussed the same thing on Hitsville Soul Club https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/Forums/Topic2170-8-1.aspx Yes, I have been known to do this The only thing that I haven't found yet, is a cure.
  12. Hi There are two DEMO's, one of which does look like a Stock Copy from the "TOO DARN SOULFUL" side. However, it has "PLUG SIDE" on the "YOU DON'T LOVE ME ANYMORE" Side. 981 Is a styrene Monarch & Delta # 65704 on one side & 65704-X the other. The strange thing is (considering that the other DEMO has the Labels Reversed) is that the PLUG SIDE has 65704-X. The -X following a Delta Number, normally denotes the B Side? AMY 981 is Styrene with a "B" Matrix STAMPED in the Deadwax Has the Labels Reversed The Blue Label AMY Stock copy is the rarest and hardest to obtain. A Friend of mine had this years ago, the only time I've seen one, other than a scan. I've got both DEMO's in the collection, the Blue AMY Stock Copy is virtually impossible, hope you find one. The Blue AMY scan below is from Popsike.com https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php...x=0&y=0 IT'S ALWAYS WORTH A LOOK ON POPSIKE.COM WHEN VALUING RECORDS
  13. Hi Joan I'd like a copy if possible.
  14. Hi We must have posted reply at the same time. The Early Canadian Issues were all on Yellow Tamla If my memory serves me correctly. They kept the U.S.A. Numbering system though i.e. Motown, Gordy etc
  15. Hi By your description, It sounds like a canadian issue to me. Does the number have a G Prefix ........ i.e. G-7035 These Canadian Issues are considered good quality Vinyl recordings
  16. Hi All I love to play the Vinyl when I can. I used to have the Twin Decks etc - Mono in those days which always had plenty of Bass. Now I tend to play through a Deck coupled to my computer sound card. If I am playing MP3's which I do for convenience most of the time, I use a program called TPLAYER which is a bit of Freeware that I stumbled upon. It operates very much like the Twin Decks but with MP3's https://pages.videotron.com/tplayer/ It searches the computer for all MP3's and lists them. You can play, cue next track and fade across to the other track, set playlists, or just let it play automatically. You can even change the pitch + or - Oh and I know I've already mentioned this, It's free.
  17. Hi John Thanks for this account, fascinating stuff. I love stories like this. It's what Northern Soul collecting is about.
  18. Hi Simon I notice on Jimmy Breedlove's Version - Artie Schroeck one of the writers also Directed this one.
  19. Hi Paul Yes, I believe it was covered up as Johnny Caswell. Proud to have this in the collection, It is just a brilliant record - a true Northern Soul classic Please tell us the story John
  20. Hi TONE I have always liked "I Can't Help Loving You", is there any truth In the rumour that Paul Anka either couldn't remember recording It or denied recording it. I seem to remember reading something about this at the time.
  21. Hi One of my record collecting Nightmares was the day that - To my shame - I said. I DON'T WANT THAT COPY, IT SAYS "IT'S AGAINST THE RULES OF LOVE" (I Thought at the time that they were pressings) I want one that says "It's Against The Laws Of Love" Haunts me still as I actually had the copy in my hands at the time. Many sleepless nights later, I can tell you, It STILL HURTS. It was the early seventies, I was young, and had very little knowledge of Original Labels at the time - but ..... Ouch!
  22. Hi I don't know if this qualifies, but I was in a shop in Retford in the seventies. Soul Packs of 10 were being opened by the shop owner. (Obviously only 2 records could be seen before opening the polythene). These were being put in racks for sale., individually. Out of one pack - 2 copies of Freddie Chavez - "They'll Never Know Why" - LOOK White Demo's Only me and one other person in the shop, noticed and Immediately bought one each. Talk about right place, right time - I very nearly didn't go to Retford that particular day, as I recall, am I pleased that I did.
  23. Hi Reprise RS 20850 - UK Reprise 0850 - US Vogue - Reprise Records - 20224 - FRANCE
  24. Hi Mark I haven't seen a Black Stock Copy of Howard Guyton, If there was, there should be a Yellow DEMO, I can't say that I've seen one. I've got The High Keys - Black Stock Copy and I have seen the Yellow DEMO for this a couple of times, only ever had one chance at the Black Stock Copy though in 38 years.
  25. Hi Mmm .... Interesting I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this. I must admit, I thought that possibly, I had seen more White DEMO's than Coloured DEMO's over thr years. Closer inspection of the Deadwax Information ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Coloured DEMO is a Styrene Monarch, with a Stamped Matrix & Delta Number (A Side 75782 - B Side 75782-X) There is also "SELECT SOUND" Stamped both sides ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The White DEMO is on Vinyl, the "NO! NO! NO!" side and has "SELECT SOUND" Stamped in. The other Deadwax Marks are very Similar at first glance to the coloured, but NOT absolutely Identical when studied closely. The "Don't Bring Me Down" Side doesn't have the "SELECT SOUND" Stamp and the Deadwax is different. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Because of the Source of the record and the "SELECT SOUND" Stamp on the A' Side, I am happy that the White DEMO is genuine. However, it just highlights the Minefield of collecting. It is strange to hear of the sealed box of 100? - It would be interesting to know if these were "SELECT SOUND" Stamped? It leaves me to wonder if the White DEMO is a Later Issue or just a different pressing plant - The box of 100 does sound suspicious, or a very lucky find by someone. Anyone know? -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
