  3. Hi You're right, I haven't heard it
  4. Hi A few more that haven't been mentioned, but are always worth Including ...........Some of them are also cheap to aquire - Amazing Value - Superb - Classic - Worth hunting for the Rarer B Side on this one - Van McCoy (Need you say more) - One Of Their Best Double Siders - I just love almost everything Dee Dee Warwick has ever recorded
  5. 6. Hi Big Maybelle - 96 Tears - Rojac 112 - I just love Big Maybelle, I have only just bought this wonderful record, 96 Tears is Awesome As is Black Is Black, which I haven't got ..... yet! One that I've had years and I believe has started to get played again is; The Star-Treks - Gonna Need Magic - VEEP 1254 - I used to play this regularly in the 70's, It always filled the floor. I can't believe that It has taken all these years to get re-activated. I am told that a Stock Copy exists for VEEP 1254, however It must be rare as I haven't seen one, anyone got a scan?
  7. Hi Goldmine GSCD 51 - The Wigan Casino Story - Track 13 I hope that this helps
  8. Ditto, Brilliant site, just noticed that you joined Soul Source yesterday, Welcome 'The Maverick' It's Certainly one of the best things that I've ever done, joining Soul Source. Keeping the Soul alive in the USA! & Worldwide - Thanks to the Internet. The Soul Music that we all Enjoy, has been in safe hands here in the UK for many years via the various Northern / Rare Soul Scenes, etc
  9. Hi Jackie Lee - Darkest Days Written By: Charles Jones Arranged By: James Carmichael Produced By: Smith-Relf-Jones Does anyone know If this was ever intended for release on Mirwood/Keymen etc This copy on ABC is a Styrene Monarch Delta # 73393 Which Dates it at September/October 1968 Whereas in this feature about Jackie Lee It mentions that It was 1966 I just wondered If anyone knows the date of this recording in relation to the Mirwood/Keymen stuff, considering the obvious link with Producers/Arrangers
  10. Hi It's difficult to Imagine, that without our scene, most if not all of the records mentioned in this post may have been confined to the 60's long forgotten and lost forever. How lucky we are that DJ's over the years have championed these sides and brought them to our attention. I can't begin to wonder what life would be like without these brilliant tunes to listen to. Dull, you better believe it. Where's that whisky, I just entered the Twilight Zone for a brief moment there. (Which is another good record, by the way) One of my favourites by The Astors Life without Soul Music, It Ain't Gonna Happen. ShuDDeR!at the very thought. Some more, various labels, there must be loads of 'em. Just shows how good these artists were
  11. Hi Definitely The Van Dykes
  12. Hi Ted I started with UK records, and then, tried to get U.S.A. Demo & Stock Copy. I had more success with U.S.A. though, (Thanks to Soul Bowl)
  13. Hi Ted Thanks once again, I reckon I'll only ever get to see the Stock Copy on a scan. It is Oh! So Rare and So Desirable, must be worth £####'s Absolutely Priceless - It Must be the BEST of all the Double Siders
  14. Hi Steve Same here, got my copy from Soul Bowl Stock Copy - Never seen one, only this scan from popsike.com Two More Brilliant Double Siders, from my collection that I never tire of. and just one of many, a Double Sider from Mirwood , and a Double Sider from AUDIO ARTS! We have had some brilliant double siders over the years, The quality was so high, that there were such a lot of artists that found it almost impossible to do any wrong and record a bad track.
  15. Hi I don't know how many of the Mirwoods came out with Black Labels. Apparantly "The Duck - Jackie Lee", "I Can't Stop - The Performers" & "Set Me Free - The Performers" did. I haven't any on Black Mirwood ......... so far
  16. Hi Thanks for that, I'll have a look at the Deadwax on my copies for Matrix etc.

Stomp - Mirwood 5535 - £ 30 "Demo Double A" The Performers - Nightmares / Little Angel - Sir Graham 101 - £ 150 I am not sure where the Sir Graham issue features within the Mirwood Label Story
  18. Hi Johnny Which one, Mirwood 5514 - The Mirettes - He's Alright With Me - You're Kind Ain't No Good. or Mirwood 5531 - The Mirettes - Now That I Found You Baby - He's Alright With Me. ..... any chance of a scan?
  19. Hi It's on again @ 08:00 AM this morning.
  20. "Talk of the Grapevine" - J J BARNES Not sure when this was actually recorded - J J BARNES Helped to write this too.
  21. Hi Yes, "Reaching For The Best" - The first version 20th Century Single - The Exciters really did a good job on this .. Superb . I've Heard later versions/remixes - Which vary from not so good mix to tragic overkill mix. A lot of Levines stuff had the customary long intro which nearly always killed the record in my opinion before the Vocal had a chance. This one got everything right. James Wells-"Baby I'm still the same man" I have to agree with this one too. Stunning. (I picked this up on a 12" Promo years ago)
  22. Hi Surely all the hard work has been done. The Vinyl records are mainly in collections and not scattered across the U.S.A. in warehouses waiting to be discovered. CD's full of Northern Tracks are easy to obtain, & MP3 download's. There are plenty of Venues to go to. Maybe things are now too easy, I don't suggest that Vinyl Records will readily thrill the youngsters of today, but ....... The Music Definitely will, in my opinion, one day Northern Soul will be rediscovered by the young, possibly dare I say It via MP3 Downloads. The 100 M.P.H. Dancers will win the day. We might be tired of hearing certain records, but just imagine when you heard them the first time around. It's just waiting to happen, all over again. The knowledge of the scene and it's music is the gift that we can pass on to others. We all hold gems of Information about the scene and the music that can be shared on forums like Soul Source. Like I say, It's just waiting to happen.
  23. Wow, Brilliant. Thanks Pete
  24. Hi Jerry Thanks for confirming that. The Label is slowly becoming a liitle clearer. I'm beginning to think that there is more than one DEMO for most of the releases. https://www.popsike.com/php/detaildata.php?...nr=300013415540 My copy of "That Beatin' Rhythm" 5532 White DEMO is different to this one on Popsike for instance. I have already 2 different White DEMO's for 5519 & 5523 Then there are the 2 for 5534
  25. Hi I have The Sounds Of Lane on ITZY #5 & Mickey Lee Lane on ITZY #6 Not sure, if they are both Boots as ITZY is the local Label for Mickey Lee Lane I am told. I thought it was a Re-Issue label - So I'm Not Sure I will have to look in the Deadwax for clues. However from Soul Bowl I have Mickey Lee Lane on Swan and The Sounds Of Lane on Cobblestone DEMO
