  1. Hi Martin I'm not sure who Ray Paige was, however; There is an Article on the way which may have some Information on Ray Paige; Look out for the article on "The Wiz" - Jimmy Wisner in "There's That Beat!" - Issue #3 Either way It will make Interesting reading.
  2. Hi Martin I love the Ray Paige version, However when I used to play them years ago, It was more Major Lance vs Ronnie Milsap as these were the only versions we knew. I tended to prefer the Major Lance in those days and tried, without success to obtain a copy on UK Columbia. As you can see I turned my attention to Imports. I must say though, any version when I used to DJ in the 70's would fill the floor.
  3. Hi Many Artists have sung this, I think the one you are after is the Ray Paige Version These are the Versions on 45 that I have, there are others. It all comes down to personal taste. I Hope that this helps
  4. Hi I too have the UK Action Grey / Blue Double Sided DEMO didn't realise It was a B Side in the States. I've got this Album too - - Brilliant.
  5. Hi Maverick It's difficult to define, but once you've experienced it, it never leaves you. It's with you for life, and beyond, hopefully
  6. Hi Ken I dance, sort of OK in the privacy of my own home. I keep running out of glue for the ornaments though. Yes, I am that bad. Shit Dancer, If I'm ever described as that, It will show I've Improved a bit
  7. Hi Ken My feet definitely tap, but they don't turn on, they just don't steer correctly. My dancing is definitely restricted to protect others on the floor. Only ever danced when I've had a few, "NOT A PRETTY SIGHT" Others may sustain Black eyes and thus look like "Goths" due to my flailing out of sync limbs. I've always wished I could dance, I just love the Music so much.
  8. Hi I just love the "Special Qualities" a Nighter has. The Music - The Atmosphere - Friendship - A scene like no other. Gives me a Buzz WITHOUT anything else. However; Drinking, smoking or whatever doesn't get in the way of a Damn good time.
  9. I haven't recorded "Look" yet, I will do so as Soon, as I get chance.
  10. Hi John I know It's a bit too late, but I've just noticed your request for a soundclip. 12. Hi Chalky Really, I didn't know that, I was just going on the amount of Canadian records that I've seen for sale over the years. I've seen a few Tamla_Motown, Reo etc but nothing in any great quantity. I did hear that the Canadian Tamla records were Top quality Vinyl, and thus sought after.
  13. Hi Pete I can't understand why either, In most cases I would Imagine the Canadian records are harder to obtain / Rare ? I suppose just how Rare hasn't been documented yet
  14. Hi We went to the coast on our scooters in the 70's, called in at a Transport Cafe'. One of the mates decided to try the Juke Box, (all chart stuff) Anything you chose from the charts, didn't play, but from the revolving cassette of singles came numerous Soul Tunes. Nothing, really rare, but stuff like "Seven Days Too Long" - Big T, "Let's Copp A Groove" - Beacon. I'd love to know who put them there, and also wonder why they were missing from the playlist.
  15. You Don't Mean It - towanda barnes - acetate - regent sound studios
  16. Hi I agree, that is why I think that the Museum should be very much tied to a suitable Venue. Dare I say It, Wigan Casino, had It still been around. Somewhere still going strong, would be Ideal though. Might even be Lottery / Self financing with the right thought behind It
  17. Hi I have a Studio Acetate of this, bought from Soul Bowl, many years ago. It is double sided............Not sure If It is a different version though, as I haven't played It in years, due to It being an Acetate. I will try to do an MP3 soon.
  18. Hi I alway thought this should happen, connected to a Venue where Today's scene could still thrive, It's got to be a winner. Things are moving in a similar way in the States, I'm pleased to say ( RE: >> Hitsville Soul Club Of America << Post ) Mine was the only reply to this, which I just couldn't believe. We should be doing likewise
  19. Hi I don't know about Mason Williams Classical Gas, I seem to remember an L.P. track by Paul Mauriat - Classical Gas, around the same time as Paul Mauriat's - Black is Black. Not sure where I heard It played, a mate bought It from Global Records or Soul Bowl, He played It at The Drum a couple of times If I remember right.
  20. Hi These are the only two I have by Derek Martin "Sly Girl" came out on a few different labels and Is an extremely good record to have in the collection, at a fairly low cost too, definitely value for money. Tuba 2010 - Sly Girl / Soul Power Buttercup Records 45-009 - You Blew It Baby / Moving Hands Of Time
  21. Hi They must think I've lost it big time, :fool: In the process they don't realise just what they are missing.
  22. What would I change? When I mention that I listen to Northern Soul, people who think that they know, think that I am a fan of this group It makes me appear to be an ageing "Bay City Rollers Fan" or something. Why didn't they just release The Invitations Version
  23. Hi I just love The Remarkables featuring Vance Wilson - Easily Mislead - Audio Arts Terrific Double Sider. This record has only just found It's way Into my collection, I can't believe It's taken me 38 years to decide to buy a copy. How I've missed this Gem before now escapes me. The Remarkables featuring Vance Wilson - Easily Mislead - Audio Arts! 700B The Remarkables featuring Frank Wilson - Is The Feeling Still There - Audio Arts! 700A Audio Arts! is one of my favourite labels too Just one look at the Label Credits, James Carmichael & Frank Wilson On the subject of this record "Vance Wilson?" ........
