Hi Ricky I have Included the refosoul sound file from the archive. We used to play this, back in the day. It was of course a cover of The Supremes on a budget label at the time of release. I still like it, has a nice stomping beat.

Took me back like The Tardis might do, were It real. Happy Day's, Pleased you liked it too. One of those YouTube clips, that mean everything to those back there at the time, back in the day. Hard to explain, but MAGIC!. I'd have travelled the length of Brittain for a copy on Stateside, back in the sixties. Mar-V-Lus, wouldn't have even known that, had I not have reached the first hurdle of securing a U.K. Stateside copy. & then of course the President Re-Issued Label. Information was Sparse back then, Registers, Crawlers, & Label was a Bonus.

I have just posted a response on an Edwin Starr thread, regarding the Title of the Greatest. I suppose that it should be broken down into The Greatest in THEIR Field. "Mike Terry" Another name that gives the stamp of Quality before you even offer the needle to the wax.

I remember a TV appearance on Pebble Mill at One, in the 70's Dinner time show, and he just Excelled, at the Top of his profession and it showed, in total control of The Voice, The Energy & the Audience. Wow! I can't recall anyone ever saying that he gave a bad performance, a Rare Star r indeed. Even though he was taken far too soon, he will continue to shine. His "Feelgood Music" does just that, in the early days his music hit me and it continues to do so. One of the Greats would be a true statement, yet he was even better than that. "The Greatest". Well there must only be a handful who thoroughly deserve that Title, & Edwin Starr definitely does.

Both of my copies were purchased from Soul Bowl. I will try to scan the Matrix, the colours are totally wrong on the Boot as far as I am aware.

They sit so well together, always played them, even back in the Youth Club days, & I didn't realise the Label connection at that time.

Gotta Agree I have always loved this track from first hearing it and with the only clue, the Soul Beat Boot. I bought the Album as soon as possible, plus the marvelous "Bubblegum Breakthrough" It even gained a UK release following the Northern Interest "Fused" Album & Single. Yet the reason why it was written is Unknown, as far as I am aware. Famous for Theme Tunes, Mike Post is Legendary. I'm just pleased that for whatever reason, that this track was recorded. What an amazing Album filler. Still does the business for me even after all of these years. Feelgood Music at it's best.

Thanks, It is a Label that I have only just started collecting/picking a few titles up. I just wondered if there was a known date for each colour or regional. The red one with the "Nashville Matrix" is most helpful The big hit, repressed many times. Yes certainly go with that now, thanks for everyones help with this.

I've seen Barefootin' / Let's Go Baby on Nola with Red, Yellow & Blue labels. Red appears to be the common one for this release. The Blue one has a "Nashville Matrix" Stamp, that's what made me think regional. Anyone know if the Nola label used these as regional differences, or different for 1st, 2nd, 3rd issue. I think some of the other titles were on different colours, just wondering why.
