Haha!! It seems to be!!

A good question Mike - I like the solid feel of UK pressings but probably irrational otherwise!!
-
Good afternoon, anyone with a nice copy of the UK 7 of One Minute From Love like to exchange for cash, many thanks, Steve

Article: The Dramatics - (Artist Of The Week)

A nice 2-step groove from 1996 - Try Love Again (think that Ron Banks and Wee Gee Howard are present on this recording). -
No worries - happy to be set straight!! Maybe PM me with a handful of recommendations?

Sadly, Joe Soap, I think you've hit the nail on the head. I see very few truly contemporary soul productions these days but plenty of sixties, seventies and eighties retro-styled releases (even nineties, as there are still plenty of Drizabone soundalikes about!!). I don't expect cutting edge sounds, just something that doesn't take as its starting point a slavish recreation of a style that characterized a previous decade. Its a shame as I've always liked to spend money on new music - there just doesn't seem to be a great deal of that about at the moment.

Hi - an odd request but does anyone have a nice 10 inch record sleeve (ideally inner and outer) they'd be willing to let go? I bought myself a great reggae tune on a ten-inch format (Valerie Stuart - Flirt) but it has come in a ropey sleeve. It deserves better!! A generic sleeve would be preferred and I am obviously happy to pay. Many thanks Steve.

Also on Peruvian and Greek 45 I believe!! -
Hi all - looking for a decent ABC 45 of Sharon Paige - New To You, many thanks, Steve
-
Really like that YBS tune and one I play regularly at home as well!! Talking of which, if I can also pick 3 for today, 2 from the later 80s and the last almost a new release. Hope they add something positive to your Saturdays!!

Staying with the purist two-steppers, the Philadelphia Int label was a real treasure trove and each of these is available to listen to on YouTube and (probably) available to buy on Discogs!! Silk - I Can't Stop Turning You On Futures - Ain't Got No Time Fa Nuthin' Jean Carn - My Love Don't Come Easy O'Jays - Summer Fling Jones Girls - This Feelings Killing Me Jones Girls - Nights Over Egypt Jacksons - Blues Away Peoples Choice - Soft and Easy Billy Paul - Your Sweetness Is My Weakness Instant Funk - So Glad I'm The One Enjoy!!! One of my favourite two-steppers, sadly elusive for the past 30 years - I've yet to even see a copy!!
-
Thinking of that stellar Gina Breedlove tune, a few slightly more contemporary tunes that might have 2 step appeal are:- Adriana Evans - Love Is All Around Earth Wind and Fire feat. Raphael Saadiq - Show Me The Way Nu Colours - Do You Wanna Go Back To When Sleepys Theme - Choked Out Saturday Night Sinclair - I Want You Back Happy Christmas!! Steve...….
-
Now that is a nice list of tunes, especially the Herbie Hancock selections!!
-
Martin S - here's the Ruth Copeland tune - a duet with Daryl Hall, very nice to my ears but music is a subjective thing!!
-
Regards the Samson and Delilah 7, I can see - SD400A - FWCS - S8621 806 I hope that helps. Thanks very much for the pointers, Martin - I will definitely check them out. I don't think I've played You're The One so I'll put that right tomorrow. I've loved the two step sound since the late 80s and hearing Body Fusion etc for the first time. Aside from Hollywood Dreaming, the Fathers Children album isn't too at all and the tune I listed makes it a worthwhile purchase IMHO. The IND album is great too, abounding with decent two-steppers. Another listing to follow tomorrow
-
I have it and I'll post those details tomorrow along with a long list of other two step treasures nestling nicely on my shelves!!

A lot of the tracks posted here are not recognised 2 steppers - is it time to close the thread?
-
Always think of two step as being soul through a reggae-filter and lovers rock as being reggae through a soul filter - easy!! No direct link to the Chicago steppers scene, though!!
-
Good evening everybody!! I have a 12 of Phil Flowers, Stay Awhile in Mint- condition on the Future Records and Tapes label. £150 plus postage and paypal preferred. Many thanks for looking. Steve.

Help needed! Manchester's 80/90s street soul scene
Steveh73 replied to Mike's topic in All About the SOUL
There's a thread here that touches on the TSR label, which put out a number of collectible street soul releases during that late 80s, early 90s period -
Luther (Vandross' group before going solo) on AVCO?
Steveh73 replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
Really like this thread and it reinforces (for me, at least) what a great vocalist Luther Vandross was, particularly his first 4 albums with Epic. I think he lost his way from the mid 80s but started to get his act together again towards the tail-end of his career and, sadly, his life. -
I'll bring a bit of balance here!! I have read it and really enjoyed it. Its nice to a see a book on the northern soul scene giving due respect to Stafford and the eighties in general. Added to which, I thought it was well written - all down to personal taste, I suppose!!
