  1. Got a copy if you still want it - send me a pm with a reasonable offer Cheers Steve
  2. What about Marvin Gaye - Where Are We Going and My Love For You, John Edwards - Tin Man, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles - My Business Your Pleasure, Jeffree - Love Loan.
  3. Yes, this so true and despite the fact that this is the same as another recent thread, its always good to expose good album tracks. Here's some more:- Four Tops - When Tonight Meets Tomorrow Ace Spectrum - If You Were There Johnny Mathis - Say It Ain't True Dells - Don't Trick Me Treat Me Ronnie Dyson - I Wanna Be Where You Are
  4. I just thought I'd let you know I'd put a few items up for grabs including a rare original 12 of Leon Ware - Why I Came to California as well as a copy of the infamous Diane Steinberg. Anyway, take a look - https://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZswinQ5fsteve (you might have to cut and paste into your browser). Cheers Steve
  5. There seems to be an abundance of compilations aimed of 60s Motown sounds - rare, common, obscure or otherwise. What I want to know, though, is what tunes would you reccomend if Motown was to ask you to compile a similar CD but this time aimed at the 70s conneisseur? I'll start with a couple of obvious biggies but I'm sure the Soul Source forum can throw up many more! Bottom and Co - Gonna Find A True Love Virgil Henry - You Ain't Saying Nothing New.
  6. Take a look at this months' Echoes for an article on this series - looks like the producers have taken some liberties with the definition of the word 'Soul'.
  7. Where Will You Go.. was a UK-only 45 issued on PIR at the same time as the US album release (1976) of the same name. It was then re-released as the B-side of the Portrait (a CBS-offshoot) re-issue of Don't Let Love Get You Down in 1987, which in itself had seen demand for the original album on the rare-groove/two-step scene push prices up to 50 quid and more. The Portrait 12 also has Soul City Walking as an extra track on the B-side which, if you don't mind reissues, makes for a nice 3-track package. Having said that, I also picked up an additional PIR 7 recently in a local second-hand shop for three quid!
  8. Flip pver your copy of Four Below Zero - My Baby's Got ESP (on 12 anyway) and you'll find a nice little tune called Like Her by Gentlemen and Their Lady. Its not massively soulful but the production is incredibly dynamic and it probably got a lot more dance-floor action than ESP in its day. Anyway, I have been told that it was spun as a new release, presumably at the Mecca or Ritz. Aren't some of the more funky 70s sides such as Like Her, Summer In The Parks etc due for a revival? As I have said, they may not be overly soulful but surely there should be space for tunes that just exist to move the feet! Steve
  9. How about - Confunkshun - Wanna Be There RJs Latest Arrival - Made Up Mind Eddie Holman/Double Exposure - Where Have You Been All Of My Life Enchantment - I Believe In You Double Exposure - Falling In Love Main Ingredient - Have You Ever Tried It And many, many more........... Steve.
  10. An absolutely superb tune but, strangely, I don't think this has appreciated a great deal - maybe up to 15 to 20 pounds. It'd be nice to be proved wrong. You also might like to know that it shares the same backing as CB Overton - If I Can't Have You (Shock) and, I think, the title track from Johnny Bristol's Free To Be Me album.
  11. Blimey - 57 replies and rising. Many thanks for some excellent listings and top reccomendations. To the reccomendation for the Vanesse Thomas album - definitely agree. I'll add a few of my own - First Love - Things Are Not The Same - Mirage/10 Choice Reunion - Free and Easy - Les Wes Evelyn King - Back To Love - RCA By All Means - I'd Rather Be Lonely - Island Rick Clarke - See You Along The Way Carol Williams - Can't Get Away - Vanguard Keep 'em coming Cheers Steve.
  12. Couldn't agree more. There was just so much good stuff issued on Philly and the more soulful end of Salsoul during the 70s and most of it just doesn't fetch big money but when was that ever a real benchmark of quality? I have seen a bit of interest lately although, hopefully, this won't push other five pound sounds up to the same sort of excesses as Party Time Man. For all that, isn't Dianne Steinburg just a bit dreary?
  13. Eugene Smiley - Its You - played by Cliff Stele in the Modern Room on Sunday morning. Superb tune and anyone like to sell me one? Steve H
  14. Thanks very much everyone for some excellent reccomendations. As is stated above, some fine soul music emerged during the eighties - just doesn't seem to be getting much of a spin at the moment. Looks like I might not be the only one who feels that way. Some excellent tunes due some exposure include - Intrigue - Let Sleeping Dogs Lie Billy Always - Back on Track Gladys Knight and The Pips - When You're Far Away John White - Fooled Around And Fell In Love Beau Williams - All Because of You THS - Shine On Anymore for anymore?
  15. Hi all, Just wanted a few suggestions for some good eighties tunes I might have missed out on. By eighties tunes, I don't mean one-off seven-inch obscurities on minor labels out of Texas, I mean major label releases that I might stand a chance of getting hold of and,who knows, one day might fetch big cash - once the obsession for seventies releases dies down that is! Steve H
  16. Anyone like to part with T and T - Something on my Mind, Cobra (?) 45. Many thanks Steve
