  1. I play the Clarence Hill track off the ORIGINAL LP it was issued on. It was in fact issued on TWO entirely different original LP's. One is the well known Brenton Wood and friends LP on Brent ... but here's a quick quiz for everyone. Does anyone know the OTHER LP that Clarence Hill appears on ???
  2. OK, so going on both Chunky's scan and jinx74's scan there seem to be two different label designs for Shy Guy, both WITH the picture , right? So, does anyone have a scan of Shy Guy WITHOUT ANY picture on the label ? (PS Where is Mr Manship ?)
  3. What a fantastic record and strangely now almost forgotten . Would L-O-V-E to see this re-activated and become bigger than ever ! First played at the Mecca was it ? Was this issued with label design variations? Scans most welcome ... Was it booted ? Could someone kindly post a clip. Thanks in advance.
  4. What does the MIDWEST FRANCHISE usually go for these days . Has it really been played to any great extent on the scene? Fabulous record !
  5. Vitually all the Impressions earliest chart hits on ABC from 64-65 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Stevens & Foster looking certain to go over 500 quid on Mr Manship's auction.
  7. I've always been intrigued by this part of the Motown legend. Can anyone post up a scan/example of one of these so called bootleg/counterfeit Motown issues that Miss Ray was alleged to have pressed up in the 60's ??? In all my years of record collecting, I can't ever recall a dealer or fellow collector actually describing or showing to me a 60's Motown record that is a bootleg or counterfeit ???
  8. Too right , why even have this debate ? True soul lovers with good sense and good taste will enjoy both styles. As a matter of fact, I believe the best of the Four Tops' ABC-Probe releases such as Sweet Understanding Love , Are You Man Enough, Aint No Woman, Just Cant Get You etc was every bit the equal of their monumental Motown releases. In fact let's start a separate thread on one of the great unheralded song writing and production teams of 70's soul, Dennis Lambert & Brian Potter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Tone, is Al still alive and performing? Did he ever appear live in the UK at a Northern Soul event performing his northern tunes ?
  10. The fantastic male soul vocal group interplay of the Impalas with that fabulous ethereal falsetto lead shades it in favour of the Impalas for me, although I love Betty Moorer too ! Perhaps the classic example of the far more easily available disc totally destroying the rare release is Patrice Holloway's superb Black Mother Goose on Capitol, which totally kills Sam Nesbitt's constipated vocal, recorded in the laundry-sounding rarity !!!
  11. Is that the LP where Marge Dodson does a version of the Jackie Wilson tune "What A Lovely Way To Die ? Can anyone post a clip of her version please?
  12. Anyone ever bothered to flip over the original Gil Scott Heron 45 of The Bottle on Strata East ? Absolutely glorious dancer called "Back Home" , deserves to be bigger than even The Bottle ! Can somebody please post a clip of it on here !!! Thanks !
  13. What number issue on the label is the Curtis on Charm City ?
  14. Mike, how is that nutter in the foreground with the dancin machine T Shirt !!!! Great splits and dives BUT what a psycho !
  15. Wanted please, an original US issue on the Soul label of Frank Wilson's "Do I Love You (Indeed I Do) " I have made the decision to pursue a copy of this record and have put loan finance arrangements in place in anticipation of a copy being offered to me. Payment will be made within one week of the agreement to purchase, by international transfer. I am willing to nominate a price of $25,000.00 (US Dollars) for a mint copy but I am open to negotiate that price depending on condition and all other relevant factors. Obviously appropriate delivery and insurance arrangements will have to be discussed, but I am prepared to factor in the cost of an international courier to effect personal door to door delivery anywhere in the world. All commmunications must remain strictly confidential and it may be that I ask the seller to execute a strict confidentiality agreement regarding the sale. Serious sellers and dealers please, no time wasters. Thank you for your attention.
  16. Yep, have it , off the first LP, track is "Don't Mess With My Weekend" , Aussie only 45 , Mr Manship had one auctioned last year
  17. With all the massive trawling through the Motown vaults of unreleased stuff over the last 25 years or so - and the general deeper appreciation of the Motown legacy - one artist that still SEEMS to get little attention is SHORTY LONG. All that is ever written about Shorty is that he died tragically in a boating accident in the late 60's. And aside from the two excellent LP's he recorded for the company , little else is known or said about him. Anyone have any more bio info, video or audio clips , reminiscences , authentic acetates , favourite tracks they want to talk about ?
  18. The Australian only release of "You Don't Where Your Interest Lies" by Fia Karin on the Spin label remains the best "northern" style version of the tune (IMHO) and is very rare too , Aussie collectors will confirm that ... Anyone care to post a clip of the Fia Karin version ? ...
  19. Rudy Martinez and the boys !!! Would love to see a clip of Big Maybelle doing her superb version !!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkvK638yKuY
  20. Totally bizarre Wigan spin ! One of the craziest ever northern spins !!! Hurry up and watch this because everytime a Seeds clip is posted , Sky Saxon keeps getting it taken down !!! He must have finally woken up from his psychedelic stupor after all those years !!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GeDxS8olL8
  21. My mate from Down Under, scouser Vince Peach, was a regular at the Wheel (and even jocked there once or twice)and tells me this was a monster!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pBOCgvhmhY
