  1. UK original please but any country will do as long as it is an original issue and in exc or better condition.
  2. Yes definitely bootlegged AND reissued (legally by Charly). Unquestionably one of the greatest 70s soul LPs , and it's a sad indictment of the Northern scene's obsession with sevens that there are two LP-only tracks "Take A Stand" and "So Rare" that would/should be absolute monsters on the scene.
  3. Great gritty sound, it remains fairly unknown across the scene, does it not ? Mr Manship himself used to tip this many moons ago if I recall correctly ....
  4. What a stark contrast to the "Soulful House" thread ...
  5. "What It Is" by Faith Gage on Black Giant Records Anyone ? Thanks !
  6. Always thought the general consensus was that the northern scene never at any time - even at its peak - alone had the numbers to put a record in the UK charts? Chart commentators have long said that the likes of R Dean Taylor, The Tams, Archie Bell & Drells etc only made it into the charts when youth club DJs and non-strictly soul discos up and down the country picked them up, is that not right?
  7. " is this the future of soul? " No it isn't. Please read the soulful house thread !
  8. Alright then, who IS the oldest bastard on this soul scene, alive and kicking and breathing mind you ... ?
  9. There's a very rare Australian only issued 45 by a blue eyed soulster which absolutely kills Danny Harrison's version.
  10. With respect, this is nothing more than a mildly pleasant easy listening lounge jazz tune from a guy that comes across as an Italian spaghetti western equivalent of Tom Waits. Couldn't possibly call this a "soul" record .... or see any relevance to it appearing on Soul Source ???
  11. My UK copy looks mint , but plays with noticeable background noise all the way through. I would have thought it was dubbed fom disc.
  12. They could make a bloody great Hollywood movie on the life of label owner Don Robey !!!
  13. Soul Source being the world's number one website on all things northern soul , I trust someone on here can get in touch with these various people and see whether they can make what they have publicly available.
  14. I'm with the Dog, Big Maybelle's is the best version !
  15. The question is a very simple one. Does any film / visual footage of the Northern Scene exist before Wigan Casino and the This England documentary ?
  16. Rare Soul LP prices outstripping 45s now. Anyone know anything about this LP and why it is so rare??? https://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...A:IT&ih=005
  17. TEMPESTS LP I have one for sale EX sleeve and EX vinyl 180 UK POUNDS plus postage Feel free to PM me
  18. Funnily enough a lot of old timers who were on the scene in the first half of the 70's - especially the Torch - say the best live act they ever saw was the STYLISTICS.
  19. DONNIE ELBERT - ALONG CAME PRIDE-RCA UK MINT £30 On RCA ????? Are you sure ??? Can we see a scan please ?
  20. The Lebanon Strings ????? Must be the middle eastern version
  21. I have to say though that I've always thought Patrice Holloway's version of Black Mother Goose on Capitol is easily far better than Sam Nesbitt's ... and costs a lot less !!!
  22. Current Ian Wright spin LIVE EVERYDAY FOR YOUR LOVE - SIR JOHN HENRY (LONNIE) Value please?
  23. All three are classic albums and all three are at reasonable prices. You should all be biting his hand off to get these !
  24. Her version of Freddie Hughes' "Ooh Baby (I Love You)" is great and gritty, highly recommended in fact !
  25. Dave, The Millionaires to which you refer to are not the same group as The Millionaires of Philips (Never For Me) and Speciality (And the Rains Came) fame (and who were all Afro-American).
