  1. This movie may do for the Northern Scene what "Shag, The Movie" did for the Beach Music Scene in the US when that movie was released in 1989 ...
  2. Here's the master himself James Brown in a dance studio demonstrating how to do some of soul's greatest dances like the Boogaloo and Mashed potatoes ... ">
  3. Been told that it's a cross between the Philly Dog and the Jerk
  4. Desperately need someone to show how to dance "The 81" ...
  5. Last copy on ebay went through on 16 March 2009 with a winning bid of $324.00 US, which is probably cheap-ish taking into account the present huge demand for it across various scenes (funk, northern, mod) ...
  6. Would be interesting to know what price regular dealers/sellers on Soul Source would put on this Eddie Jefferson 45 ???
  7. I'm with Tony, it's a pleasant enough pop tune, but one couldn't possibly mention Liddell in the same breath as Stevie Wonder, a more apt comparison would be the Jo Boxers or Fine Young Cannibals, wouldn't you say ?
  8. Surely the Chess soul question that needs answering is ... Who was Joy Lovejoy ??? !!!
  9. Anyone care to reignite the original vs second issue discussion in relation to the Mixed Emotions ?
  10. Many of the the Global Dog Aussie label listings are, unfortunately, very incomplete, more holes in them than Swiss cheese ...
  11. Tony, what's been shown on this thread is just the tip of the Aussie iceberg ! Wait til I show you some of the other Aussie & NZ stuff in existence !
  12. I have a spare Larry Santos on Festival, VG+ condition : 250 UK GBP and a spare Gloria Scott on Aussie Casablanca 7", EXC condition , small white sticker on the label : 500 UK GBP Feel free to PM . First in ... gets the goods. Paypal OK. Hope you're well Ady ! When you coming back down !
  13. Biddu had an involvement in many UK recorded soul records throughout the 6Ts and 7Ts without really getting due recognition. So I thought it might be good to do as comprehensive a list as possible of his rare soul related productions. To kick off at number one how 'bout: 1. The Telegram Song: The Outriders
  14. You said you "took all the singles" ? So I assumed that the singles were in the same musical vein as the LPs ?
  15. Pete, Were the singles on the jazz fusion side of things as well ? If so I wouldn't mind seeing a list , if that's what you have in mind eventually. Cheers.
  16. Anyone have any info on who this mob were on this 45 release from 1975? Personnel, and who was behind it ? Another Wigans Ovation type outfit, one would presume ? Obviously a version of the Wayne Fontana fave.
  17. There is an absolutely fantastic dancer by Gil Scott Heron that can be found "right underneath everybody's noses" so to speak ... The flip side of The Bottle ! A tune called "Back Home". Listen:
  18. That Dusty is a Philips NEW ZEALAND issue ..... trust you're well Mal, you coming back Down Under any time?
  19. So ... does Joy Lovejoy exist or she a figment of everybody's imagination ???
  20. Great taste as always Ady. Hope you're well mate. Is it on 45 ? I have it on her Maison de Soul LP .
  21. Here's a great colour clip of Johnny Rivers from 1967 doing his version of "The Snake" !!!!!!!!!! https://noolmusic.com/videos_2/johnny_river...snake_music.php
  22. Incidentally, I've always thought Bobby's "Love Is Good" (UA) was his best northern sounding tune
  23. To the best of my knowledge Bobby Goldsboro's "Too Many People" was never released in either 7" or EP form in Australia ??? I stand to be corrected though if someone can show otherwise. Of his various Aussie EP's, the only two northern tracks of his that are appear are "Its Too Late" & "She Chased Me". As for the femme version of Too Many People, I guess you mean Dinah Lee's version ? Ermm, yes, it stomps like mad !
  24. The greatest male soul singer of all time.
