  1. Bob, no doubt you are aware of The Realistics - How Can I Forget - Brunswick Records - 1973 ? That (US) outfit were from Chicago weren't they ?
  2. Gladys Knight and the Pips on the Soul label.
  3. Definitely not Australian, all US Specialty releases from the 50's in Australia were released on the London (Australia) label.
  4. Ken, this Groove sound clip is the Australian group who themselves were a blue - eyed soul group. I contacted one of their members here in Oz some years ago and he confirmed that they were not related to the US group mentioned in this thread who recorded "Love Its Getting Better". Some Aussie artists of course went to the US to record, notably Lynne Randell with Strangerr In My Arms. The Aussie artist mentioned earlier in this thread who recorded a version of the Willie Kendricks / Hesitations tune "You Can't Bypass This Love" was Marcie Jones. She later went on to record a version of the Velvelettes "These Things Will Keep Me Loving You" !
  5. A ground breaking LP and features liner notes from the semi-legendary Norman Jopling of Record Mirror.
  6. A ground breaking LP and features liner notes from the semi-legendary Norman Jopling of Record Mirror.
  7. Better off getting the LP, which in itself is quite tough, and the sound quality of is far better than on the 45, and a slighlty different ... and superior take too.
  8. Would have thought Little Anthony would have been the first name mentioned in this topic.
  9. Any particular DJ or DJs playing the Wilson Bros at the moment ???
  10. " Brand New Me " is Lesley's 1968 Northern stomper from legendary New York producer Herb Bernstein who is responsible for a slew of Northern classics like Lynn Randell "Stranger In My Arms" and Lainie Hill "Time Marches On"! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j85wDGhZRDs
  11. " I'll Be Standing By " a great Lesley Gore cross-over tune from her session with Gamble and Huff in Philly in 1968 !"
  12. Lesley Gore "Wonder Boy" surely inspired by Martha and the Vandellas "Heatwave"... and a great Scopitone film reel to boot .. check this out:
  13. Another Candi Staton tip for the top is her superb duet with producer Dave Crawford of "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" off her 1978 House of Love LP. Modern soul heaven.
  14. US LP only. But I'm hoping this sneaked out on a 7" Euro release or South American or something like that .... If you got one ... I'll have it !!!
  15. Can someone please post a scan of the UK release ? What was the the year it was released in the UK ? Were there UK demos and issues ? Where was this played first ? Thanks !
  16. Kris, will this mean an economic boom for New Zealand ? Maybe there's loads buried underground ?
  17. https://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370373989264&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Looks like Soul Source's Sebastian is a cert for this year's Ebay Seller of the Year award. $255 for Otis Clay is one helluva result !. You know you really should get into real estate ...
  18. Ian Clark back as a guest DJ would also ensure a packer !
  19. Apparently never on a US 45 but I'm interested to know if anyone has it on a 7" from Europe or elsewhere ?
  20. Fork In The Road " Can't Turn Around Now" . Pete Smith notes in the other current thread as follows: 311 Fork In The Road - I Can’t Turn Around - A real mystery record which for a long time was thought to only exist in the minds of befuddled UK collectors. At the time of writing, under 10 copies have now surfaced, utilising the black 70’s design label. However, one collector has a copy on the pale blue label with hand written details. I would presume that the record was manufactured for release and then withdrawn and presumably scrapped. This must be where the black issues come from because, as always, a handful always escape - look at John’s Children’s ‘Midsummer Nights Scene’ single for instance - release scrapped, so the band gave them away at their club. Result? The rarest ever UK 45 valued at £2500. Can someone post up a picture of the record please ? Is it still regarded as the rarest ever UK soul 45 ? Anyone seen one for sale in recent memory ?
  21. Brilliant .... or does this white boy rapper have a lot to answer for ???
  22. What's the current value of this LP and just how rare is it ... or not ?
