  1. Ian Clark back as a guest DJ would also ensure a packer !
  2. What's the current value for this please ?
  3. Apparently never on a US 45 but I'm interested to know if anyone has it on a 7" from Europe or elsewhere ?
  4. Fork In The Road " Can't Turn Around Now" . Pete Smith notes in the other current thread as follows: 311 Fork In The Road - I Can’t Turn Around - A real mystery record which for a long time was thought to only exist in the minds of befuddled UK collectors. At the time of writing, under 10 copies have now surfaced, utilising the black 70’s design label. However, one collector has a copy on the pale blue label with hand written details. I would presume that the record was manufactured for release and then withdrawn and presumably scrapped. This must be where the black issues come from because, as always, a handful always escape - look at John’s Children’s ‘Midsummer Nights Scene’ single for instance - release scrapped, so the band gave them away at their club. Result? The rarest ever UK 45 valued at £2500. Can someone post up a picture of the record please ? Is it still regarded as the rarest ever UK soul 45 ? Anyone seen one for sale in recent memory ?
  5. Brilliant .... or does this white boy rapper have a lot to answer for ???
  6. What's the current value of this LP and just how rare is it ... or not ?

Ronnie Dyson's LP only version on Columbia is the killer for the dancefloors !!!
  10. Did this loveable fingersnapper get a UK release ? And to jog your memory here's Carla doing the business on Hollywood A Go Go in "65 !!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2EYk4cFQwY

Somehow the Matt Munro track reminds me of rock 'n roll femme Wanda Jackson's "Whirlpool" on Capitol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btsL9IZUeXM

This is much better if you're interested in blue eyed crooners, Jack Jones' one dedicated stab at doing a "soul" record from 1968 on Kapp, It actually got some plays on certain black radio stations on the East Coast at the time, white pop music buyers ignored it at the time because it was too gritty to what they were used to from him:
  14. Is it the same group as Spice who did "Sweet Norma Jones" on Sound Gems , a Philly release ?
  15. Why not get the most desirable , an Aussie issue on Mercury !!! I have one for sale. Incidentally the UK 45 is a diffrent mix to the US LP & 45 hit version ...
  16. Anyone please ? Thanks !

Very worthwhile observations as usual Paul, but you have me thinking now, you do mean Toby Kang don't you, and are you referring to one or more 7"/45 UK releases from his much sought after US LP on Chelsea ? If so what were they ?
  18. I was watching Elvis' classic movie "Viva Las Vegas" for the 62nd time last night when I was reminded of the club scene where this brilliant black RnB group comes on stage and does this superb dance number called "The Climb" .. but I had never bothered to research who the hell they were!!! Well they are the Jubilee Four !!! Check 'em out !!! https://www.youtube.c...h?v=pXcgKpiTuo8 And they are immediately followed by Elvis himself doing a cover version of Ray Charles' "What I'd Say". Did Elvis have any "soul" ??? You decide ....
  19. The text on the Sliced Tomatoes 45 says "taken from Music Merchant LP MM103". So I want the LP. I know you've got one Much cash waiting for you...
  20. Played this recently and it absolutely packed the floor !!! Funnily enough sounds so right for today's tastes. On Calla in the US, it's first UK 7" appearance was on Contempo wasn't it ? Was there also PYE Disco Demand 7" UK release ? Their LP was on UK Contempo. Did the girls ever tour the UK ?
  21. You must be new around here ...

Brilliant tune !!! Also available on the MFP label UK LP.
  24. I used to play "Trusting Heart' and "Stop and Think" off their Golden Fleece LP regularly at Sydney soul nighters back in the late 80s. They were extremely popular with the dancers. Happy to play them for you Tony when you get to Sydney for the National Wekender later this year !
