  1. Has some nice person out there got one that they would like to part with ? Also I would prefer not to be asked to "make an offer " ... please just let me know what you want for it ... Many thanks
  2. Anyone have one of those white label jobs or any other vinyl issue of it on a seven ?
  3. And what about those giants of soul music , The Who , getting into the RnB chart with "My Generation" !!!
  4. One would think 289 quid for Tony Troutman is reasonably cheap , yeah ?
  5. Larrry Saunders on black Capitol - on what planet was that issued ?!
  6. Copy sold in last few days on ebay for $415 US 70s Soul 45 ARISTOCRATS Let's Get Together Now WARNER BRO...
  7. John, Surely Otis Clay's "The Only Way Is Up" LP was released, promoted and marketed in the early 80's in the US & Japan as a new, contemporary release even though certain tracks had previously been released on other labels several years earlier ... while the Sandra Wright LP was very obviously a compilation originating in the UK on Demon Records of previously released and newly discovered material , and it was clearly marketed as such , wasn't it ? Not that any of that matters as far as the musical quality is concerned ... they are both great LPs of course !!! In fact, and I've said it before on here several times, the only way to play out Otis Clay's "The Only Way Is Up" is off the said original LP because the sound quality is so unbelievably good, loud and clear, and it doesn't have the nasty hiss and jump at the start which most the 45's seem to have. And YES... it is absolutely OK to play the original LP ahead of the original 45 ... even at an OVO event !!!
  8. Bob , on the Chicago Steppers scene, is there much of a focus on collecting original vinyl ? Do the events consist of DJs playing vinyl or do they have pre-programmed music on the sound system ?
  9. The Aussie scene
  10. 100% correct Jocko - the longer sets will always sort out the ten bob DJ's (and also the ebay cheque book DJs) from the real DJs who not only have the depth and breadth in their record collections, but also the knowledge and ability to work a crowd.
  11. Only ever seen this as a 12" . Does it exist as a 7" ? If so , has any kind person got one to sell ?!!! Thanks !!!
  12. The market around the world for soul and funk LPs from the 6Ts through to the mid 80's is as strong as it ever was, especially younger collectors in their twenties and thirties outside of the UK who are discovering the great wide world of soul with an open miind. You're of course talking about the strange and very closeted world of northern soul and probably the same 10 or so LPs that get mentioned every time LPs and northern soul are mentioned in the same breath ie Metros, Hesitations, Tempests, Exciters etc.
  13. The track "More Love ..." also appeared on an original various artist gospel LP that Checker issued in the US in '67 ... I have the LP filed away here somewhere ... We've had a few threads on here with this theme but there really are a number of great tracks just perfect for the Northern scene on many of the Chess gospel series of releases (with full instrumentation too - not just piano bass and drums) like the now well known "Since I've Been Born Again" by Martha Bass.
  14. Sorry Ted that's what I meant to say !!!
  15. https://www.popsike.com/Bobby-Kline-on-MB-records-1001/110823289563.html Some interesting comments made by this ebay seller regarding the processes at the pressing plant where this record was made and possibly expalining why the labels are sometimes found to be reversed ...
  16. Is Sam publicly contactable ?!
  17. Thanks but I'm after the original vinyl 7" on Arpco.
  18. When Loma/WB in the US issued "But Its Alright" in the late 60's it was backed with JJ's rather good instrumental version of the Temptations "Aint Too Proud To Beg" .... instead of "Do The Boogaloo". In Australia, "But Its Alright/Do The Boogaloo" was issued first on Festival in 1966 (extremely rare!) and then more commonly on Australian Warners Bros orangel label in 1969 as "But It's Alright/Aint Too Proud To Beg". Marcia Hines did a nice version on the same LP she released in Australia in 1975 which contained "You Gotta Let Go".
  19. Anyone help with this please ? Thanks.
  20. Ian, is there going to be a vinyl release ?
  21. Yes, in addition to the Belles and the Olympics, there's a popcorn / instrumental thing I have on NZ Action by an artist that was originally on Mira in the US, so continuing the Mirwood / Mira connection. The artists name has slipped my mind but I should dig it out of the vaults and let you know ....
  22. Another equally hard to find release on NZ Action is the Olympics "Secret Agents / We Go Together"
  23. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/180909088627?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 .... a VG minus copy just sold on ebay for $142.00 US. Is this getting a new lease of life in DJ's boxes at the moment ???
  24. Is the mix on this new 7" vinyl issue different from that which everyone is/has been familiar with up to now ? How many different mixes of the tune do in fact exist ... whether on vinyl, cd download or otherwise ?
  25. WHO WAS JERRY COOK "I HURT ON THE OTHER SIDE " ???
