  1. There was a second Four Perfections record on Party Time ?
  2. What's the going rate these days for the Kama Sutra 45 ?
  3. Anyone please ? Thanks !
  4. Just as well Gene and I made up since that post of his ... and to answer your question Mal, yes there is a fourth !!!
  5. Please it must be an RCA 7" / 45 and it must have both sides : "I'll Keep A Light In My Window" b/w "Make Every Day Count" Thanks
  6. Would somebody like to make my day ? I'm sure I can make it worth your while !
  7. Yes ,this LP is a great way to obtain Deliah Moore's "It Takes Love " on original vinyl - play this before DJ's who have the Middle Earth 45 in their box - especially those soul police DJ's who think that you must only play original sevens and who lift their noses up at |LPs ...
  8. Here in Sydney (Australia) in a local record shop (one of the few left !) just picked up a 7" of Don Covay's "Bad Mouthing" on UK Mercury from 1975 and it came with this interesting sleeve with an ink stamp on it: MECCA DANCING TIFFANY'S GLASGOW Just out of curiosity , was Tiffany's Glasgow at any time hosting northern soul events ? Tiffanys Glasgow Mecca Dancing.pdf
  9. Musically, this is a high quality LP, a number of the LP only tracks are even superior to the excellent cross over gem "I'm Not Responsible" .... and it is a truly rare LP .
  10. The casting of the film is highly questionable though : the original girls were teenagers, however Mailman is 40 years old (!) and Mauboy is 23 years old while all four of the film actresses have what can only be described as overly full figures which do not in the least resemble the svelte shapes of the original girls. Bit like casting of the leads in most of those 6T's Beach Movies ... where Frankie Avalon and Annette Funnicello for example were well out of their teens .
  11. Played 4 years ago and 2 years ago ? That must mean the next time it's going to be played must be some time in 2014 .... can't wait.
  12. Thanks Ian , rather nice it is too, but being from 1983 means it is from an era prior to swing beat , street soul , proto-house and the other post mid 80s genres .... and probably explans why it's a quality tune ...
  13. What is the year of release for this ?
  14. What are the Garland Green 7' single releases on Australian MCA ?
  15. LP Wanted - " Country Disco " Lee Shot Williams Many thanks
  16. This group of native Australian girls who called themselves the Sapphires had no connection whatsoever to the US group of the same name who recorded for ABC in the US..
  17. Not the almost impossible to locate original first version which was released - and quickly withdrawn - by RCA Australia a year earlier than the well known later release that you are referring to. The first version is a completely different rawer, more soulful take recorded in Australia whereas the later version was recorded in LA with Frank Wilson.
  18. Anyone have one to trade ? I have plenty of northern to trade for it !
  19. Did this ever appear on a 7" - whether original or some sort of reissue on the funk or jazz scenes ? If you have one, I'll have it. Cheers.
  20. I know at least one of you out there has one - and I would love to receive a PM from you !!!
  21. I've also had a few John Gary Wiliams sealed LPs pass through my hands over time and they were heat damaged as well ... always brings to mind Rob Bowman's book on Stax's last dying days in and around '74 when the company was apparently having difficulty finding pressing plants to press up records for release to try to keep the company afloat and stave off the receivers etc .. not only John Gary Williams LPs but I've seen a fair amount of other Stax label releases both 45s and LPs from around '74 of poor quality vinyl , often dimpled , edge warped etc
  22. Is it fair to assume that all material released by P - Vine in Japan through the 70s and 80s was legitimately licensed from the legal rights owners ? Or not ? Have noticed over the years on here and other forums and media, in several specific instances at least, casting doubts on some of P - Vine's licensing practices .
  23. Has Sam Dees been reissued on vinyl ?
  24. Anyone have this on a 7" ?
  25. Aural evidence would suggest otherwise - a close listen to the LP and to his USA 45 and then a listen to the later "To Win You Love " 45 and to my ears it is absolutely plain as day that they are one and the same person/vocalist. And they are all Chicago label recordings , even if some of his 6Ts tracks may have been recorded in Detroit. As we soul fans have found from time to time, in later life some of our soul heroes have either simply forgotten about their earlier recordings (although I believe the Talkin Bout Jones 45 was a regional break out around Chicago - perhaps our friend Bob(a) might expand on that ) . In Bobby's case though , as he was still trying to make it in the business in the early 80's , he may in Mike Ward's interview have deliberately disowned his earlier recordings as he may have been trying to establish a new persona as Bobby Jonz and not run the risk of somebody dredging up what might - in his eyes at least - have been raw inferior records from the distant past that never really gave him a big hit or made him a star.
