The Vibrations - 2013 Personnel - Prestatyn
Apologies if this information has been provided elsewhere on Soul Source, but could someone please provide the names and bio information of the lineup of the Vibrations appearing at Prestatyn , and their connection, if any, to the classic Vibrations lineup of the 60s & early70s ? Thanks.

Checkmates. Kissing Her And Crying For You
No demo 45s but in fact Capitol throughout the 6Ts regularly sent out promotional 12" LPs to radio stations to promote their product in all the various music genres. These LPs would have about 3 soul tunes, 3 country songs, 5 or 6 pop tunes by the Beach Boys , Lettermen etc. I have about 15 of these LPs , cherry picked them out of a batch of 100 or so that I came across in an old warehouse many years ago . I pulled the ones with all the key soul tunes - Patrice Holloway Stolen Hours, Checkmates Kissing Her , Alexander Patten, Bobby Paris Walked Away, HB Barnum Heartbreaker and many others .... Sound quality on these LPs is unbelievable with Checkmates Ltd and Patrice Holloway being slightly different and superior takes to the 7" released versions.

Foreign Language - Northern / Modern Soul ?
Several of the Motown acts recorded their hits in foreign languages but it's hard to think of any strictly northerm/modern records in a foreign language. Rocky Roberts may have recorded Just Because of You in Italian, Stasera Mi Butto or something like that , but I take it no northern DJ back in the day would have attempted playing the Italian language version , would they ?!!!

Foreign Language - Northern / Modern Soul ?
Was asked whether there have ever been any major records on the scene sung completely in non - English vocals ? Not tunes with just a few chants of foreign words in them such as Soul Sauce or Danse A La Musique or El Watusi , but chorus and verse completely in foreign language ?

Wants - Timewasters
Pete, as usual, you bring sanity to the proceedings. Those who are complaining obviously live their lives 24/7 on this website, brilliant as it is, and expect the rest of us to do the same while ignoring the fact that people sometimes innocently forget, people work and don't access the internet , people go away, people die, etc etc.

Terry Callier - Beeejesus
Well , if you have put yourself in a position in life where - not by illegal or immoral means or by inheritance - you have accumulated enough wealth to not have to really care too much about paying a few hundred or more dollars or pounds above the odds when you want to buy a record (for example) , then you must have been doing something right and more than likely have a fair amount of brains in your head and/or worked very hard in life to get to that position . As for looks, no, there are probably - proportionately - as many ugly rich people as there are ugly poor people.
-
Terry Callier - Beeejesus
Surely very smart if you never have to worry about whether you're spending $6 or $600 !!!
-
Terry Callier - Beeejesus
Are you implying that there is something wrong with being rich ?
-
Al Matthews - Fool
A mate wants this , says it's gonna be a huge modern revival tune in 2013 and people are gonna be paying 150 quid for a copy by the end of the year .

Terry Callier - Beeejesus
Well this whole process is called the "free market' isn't it? And if you're also living in a free society , your arm isn't being twisted to buy a record like this ... even at what some might regard as a stupid price. Not madness is it, if this is the record that you really want ? Also why are you looking at it in terms of "a better investment"? Unless your a dealer, don't most soul people buy particular records to own them, love them and play them ... and without regard for what they might or might not be worth in the future ?
