    No , they were doing what most acts do : listening to what their managers, producers and record labels were telling them was best to make a hit record. And it worked. Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson and James Brown spent much of their careers singing old standards.

    Very sad, Bobby really played such a major part in some of the greatest songs in popular music. Interesting that the NBC report on his passing https://www.nbcphilad...-223104461.html mentions that he was "currently working on releasing a series of unheard Philadelphia Soul songs". Anyone know anything more about this ?

    There was a thread on here some years ago regarding whether any film or video footage existed of the Northern scene prior to the This Is England documentary from' 77. Someone posted and said that apparently there is some footage of the original Wheel. Anyone have any information on that ?
