  1. And if you all want to further appreciate how wonderful this Mel Britt record is, turn it over and listen to the absolutely beautiful flip side !!!!!!!!
  2. I take it that Sam's work of genius is still yet to be "reissued/re-released" on vinyl or CD (legitimately or otherwise) Can somebody refresh my memory as to exactly why that is so ? Has Sam (or Atlantic) tied the rights up and doesn't want to re release it ? Was that the same situation with Luther (Vandross) and his group's first two LPs for Cotillion ? Thanks in advance !
  3. I still need an original !!! Somebody please sell me one !
  4. If I ever play Night Owl these days , I play the far superior version by the Righteous Brothers, at least that version doesn't stop suddenly!
  5. Please PM me Wally if you want to sell , thanks !
  6. POINTER SISTERS "SEND HIM BACK" Need a MINT UNPLAYED ORIGINAL !!! Either demo or issue is ok . No Bootlegs ! No needle hiss and no cue burn on the intro , no groove wear ! Must NOT have been jocked with ! Not expecting much , am I !!!
  7. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OK , so based on your logic Col , I guess we should WRITE OFF all the following artists as soul singers: Smokey Robinson Curtis Mayfield Russell Thompkins Jnr (Stylistics) Eugene Record Otis Leavill Ted Mills (Blue Magic) Don Julian (Larks) Lenny Williams Wilbert Hart (Delfonics) Freddie Hughes Chris Bartley JR Bailey Rondalis Tandy (Van Dykes) ..... and many others ... too numerous to mention !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Listen To Your Heart George Mc Crae Angel David Sea Music of Passion Percy Larkins What Gives You The Right Tommy Tate How Can I Help But Love You Don Thomas Love Test Mel Carter Where Is Love J Blackfoot Can anyone post please an MP 3 of Arnold McCuller "Freeway To Monterey" ?
  9. Interesting post Dayo, quite a few people both within - and outside of - the Rare Soul Scene have over the years said that guys like Norman Jay and Eddie Piller for example could easily be leading DJs on the Northern/Rare Soul Scene as they have the depth of collections and knowledge to do it. Are guys like Jay and Piller outsiders to northern fans ? Or could they be welcomed in to the scene ? Wonder if anyone on Soul Source listened to what Keb Darge had to say about Norman Jay in Keb's recently posted interview about the Northern Scene .. not very complimentary at all !!!
  10. Completely gut wrenching and emotionally draining !!! Last time I got so emotional was, I think watching a Grammy Awards in the mid 90's, when the Impressions with Jerry Butler wheeled out Curtis Mayfield in his wheel chair ... seeing such great heroes reduced to mere mortals ... always so devastating ...
  11. The discography on the New York label Today Records shows an LP as having been released on this fabulous group. I've never seen it ... does it exist ? Has anyone on Soul Source got it ?
  12. Yep, Dinah Lee's superior version of Bobby Goldsboro's Too Many People. Dinah Lee was a genuine blue eyed femme (Aussie/NZ) soul / r n b singer (better vocal talent than Lynne Randell !) Can you please tell us the four titles of Dinah Lee's UK Aladdin releases, please? Thanks in advance !
  13. I agree, bloody good 70s record from Tommy !
  14. Just heard a bit of the new "comeback" CD from Latin Soul legend Joe Bataan , sounds very tasty... has anyone heard it ??
  15. Absolutely - and unashamedly - love both "Weakspot" and "Doomsday" by Evelyn Thomas. Two fabulous slices of pop soul ! Ruffin's "Hurt The One You Love" was good too, but Ruffin sounded like he was truly suffering and in pain , mustn't have been too long after that he died ..............
  16. Just wondering Ken, are you actually into soul music ???
  17. The Invitations "Picking Up" (UK Jay Boy) Yes, the Invitations of Skiing In the Snow fame , recorded on their brief sojourn to the UK in the late 60's , absolutely top draw up tempo dancer., amazing that to my knowledge this has never had ANY exposure on rare soul dance floors. And one of the toughest Jay Boys to find apparently ...
  18. The J's "When Did You Stop" , got this on a 7" , but I have a vague re-collection of seeing the 12" going on Ebay for silly money a year or two back... brilliant Philly sound either way !!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Cheers Mr Trout ! I know you have great taste, so is it actually any good?
  20. Love my Philly stuff and especially the Philly Groove label (Finishing Touch "Second Best" , brilliant !!!!), but don't know this one , can someone post a clip to hear? And what's it worth ? Thanks in advance !
  21. Gloria Scott now reduced to 600 UK GBP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
