  1. Richard Martin instead of Richard Marin on the Manny Corchado. Do they make deliberate errors I wonder? I actually think this has Johnny Caswell on the other side so obvious to pick up if a DJ is trying it on.
  2. Soul Across The Borders is an across the board soul night held on in a cross border venue (its true, the England/Wales border goes through the dancefloor...). The name sort of wrote itself... Some of North Wales finest DJs and collectors mixed with a couple of rogue Englishmen, and this is what they played last Friday. 3. An update from Facebook "An update on the dealings of Liam Taylor. This is now a police matter, if you have i) lost any money due to purchase of tickets for any events connected with him ii) you are a promoter who has lost money iii) if you have made accomodation payments you need to go on line and contact actionfraud.police.uk or you can ring action fraud on 0300 123 2040 crime ref number 150601062720 The more of you that contact, the more they have to pin on him" Well done to Lee, Mack and the SW soul crew, great to read about how good Plymouth was. And with Dean and Sara working to rescue St Ives, it is proof that soulful people are good people. One chancer cant spoil that.
  4. I was lured in like Lee. Did a couple of smaller events with Mr Taylor in Chester, and fell into co-promoting the first All Dayer in Chester Guildhall. On the Friday before the event I was paid £500, as Mr Taylor had cashed out the box office, taking over £2100. On the morning of the event I was told that he had no money at all. My wife had to withdraw £900 to cover venue hire, security and DJs. Mr Taylor then asked for £30 from the meagre door sales for his train home. To my bones I am gutted I never warned Lee, but Taylor is very plausible. I got a bit back, but am still owed over £500. I was told that I would be paid by his share of the profits for Plymouth and St Ives. I was strung along by a conman and now feel like a proper lemon. Like Lee, me and my friends are in it for the music and, prior to this, naively believed everybody on the scene was the same. Not any more unfortunately.
  5. "Everyday I'm pacing the floor, took a thousand trips to the door" Brothers Of Soul 'Hurry, Don't Linger'. Tune.
  6. Not sure if this is ok in here, but if not please delete mods. Our bi-monthly get together in Chester is at the football club, whose dancefloor straddles the England/Wales border, hence our group of North Wales, Chester and Manchester DJs and their varied tastes and styles gave us our name... We have put together a mix of what you may hear out of the playboxes of the DJs, and hope you enjoy it. https://www.mixcloud.com/ChesterSoulClub/soul-across-the-borders-mix-may-2015-exquisite-soul-from-7-djs-played-for-the-love-of-the-music/
  7. I'm after a copy of this VG+ or better please. Issue would be nice but not too particular. Thanks in advance, Mark
  8. After something vg+ or better, on a budget so please be kind!
  9. Would appear that for some it is. I had to politely ask a random seller to remove his sales of a lookalike off an OVO events page that we run. See below the messages. Mine are blue, his are grey. This chap appears to make money, and genuinely not give a monkeys who cares. Sells on Facebook. I have removed his name, but many of you will know him I'm sure.
  10. Arrived today thank you. Making it's debut on Acacia Radio 18:00-21:00 4/2/15. 7***7 ( 213) During past month THE CASHMERES - SHOW STOPPER (#181648099443) GBP 42.70
  11. I am after a copy of Dori Grayson "Try Love" on Murco and Beloyd "Get Into Your Life" on 20th Century Ex- if possible but will consider as on tightish budget Thanks for your help
  12. Essential collection, like being bathed in emotion.
  13. I cant understand why you would wish to spend £15 on a placeholder for something you can't afford, when if you take the time to dig on here or on the countless other sales lists available, there are 1000s of fantastic underplayed tunes that you can get for the same price? You have to trust your ears, but the result is that your sets become fresher, and your collection remains original? I guess it depends on the venue you are playing? It doesn't always work mind you :D
  14. Such a shame that people feel the need to do this so they can play the same records as everyone else. So many to choose from, many at less money than a boot-counterfeit-scanned label shite repro, and most infinitely more interesting to listen and dance to.
  15. I use a project deck with ortofon pro s cart in the house, spot on. Just ordered a pair of ortofon carts pro s for my cheaper pair of decks. Track lighter, good reproduction and not costing the earth. Juno good site for price and service. I use a Cambridge pro amp and gale speakers.
  16. Love the Supremes one above, also Sweet Thing - Spinners (bit of a cheat I know but was flip to 755). Also Baby I've Got It is a bit special to me as TMG577 was the record that started this obsession way way back!
  17. I love Daves Record Club threads, and glad to see you are feeling better. Mine would be Candi Statons wonderful "Too Hurt To Cry". A Muscle Shoals classic, not the dearest record I own, but the one that gets me every single time. I fall in love with her over and over again every time I hear it, and that to me is what great soul music is about.
  18. Fair point well made. I am glad to be in the 5% though not outraged, just that I like crackly old vinyl and written on, well loved labels and sleeves. I'm just glad that others do too, and I'm glad I can enjoy it with like minded souls.
  19. What Dave says above. People work bloody hard to find and buy originals, be they £10 or £4k. I know it's a labour of love but still. A massive weekender at £39 ticket surely demands ovo, or it may as well be £2 in and don't moan when the landlord plays off a laptop?
