  1. Only on price Pete
  2. I have already emailed the seller to let them know about these boots. Only exits and Christine Cooper are gen in my opinion. No reply as yet
  3. The boots are vinyl as well, or at least the ones I've seen are, they are issues but the lable is slightly off centre and the grey of the lable looks dodgy. I haven't seen a boot of the demo though and I would have noticed that as mines a demo. It sounds like there are a few boots of it from this thread.
  4. The Herbs - 'Put A Hurtin On My Heart' - Smoke I'd forgotten just how much I liked this (I bought 5 copies in early 80's convinced it was gonna go massive ) and it's just right tempo for now IMO.
  5. Lemar - 'If There's Any Justice' top draw IMO
  6. Put me down for Double Cooking, Bari Track or something in that vein
  7. Can't think of a single track played on the scene that I would rather not own than own. Thats the collector in me bit like the mad woman on the news today with 273 pets in here bungalow
  8. I think this has been well summed up by Gareth, Mark and others. I must say though I find it amusing to see some DJ's walking into venues empty handed whilst someone else carries their record boxes . Are they heroes to the people carrying their boxes or is this a way to signify don't charge these guys there with me' Just a thought.
  9. George Hunt has one an absolute mint one he traveled down to Prestatyn from Carlisle for a couple of hours so he could get Eddie to sign the cover.
  10. Forgive me for not reading all this thread but the question posed is so ludicrous as to be laughable, if that is it wasn't so serious an issue. It may as well have been "tall people on the scene - for them or against them?" or "Office workers - should they be allowed to come to our venues". What the hell does someone's age have to do with anything? Granted some of them may not neccesarily know all the dancefloor etiquete but that is true of any new entrant to the scene. As a fan of a music that was partly fuelled by oppression, inequality and the struggle for civil rights I would not like to see the conditions that helped spawn it recreated.
  11. Cheers Frank and Soul Mac. Frank what's Allan Mawn up to now not been in touch since he left Oranmoor? Ged
  12. I know there are a few soul sourcers from Dundee at least on my last visit there I found a second hand record store next to the Scream pub. I'll be in Stirling on Tuesday and Dundee on Wednesday so where should I be looking for those ellusive tunes people.
  13. Not been on line for a while so this thread is new to me, so forgive me if I bring it back on topic (ish) I don't see a North - South distinction at all its more local than that. Even if you look at the various nights at Sheridens they are all different yet (in the main) well attended. Lifeline to me is the tops but it appears that people who want that type of music policy are willing to (have to) travel further to get it. You can go to an 'oldies venue' almost anywhere yet '6ts newies / upfront venues' don't work in many places. Where they do work they get and following the average distance travelled to get to them is massive compared to the distances travelled to get to most 'oldies events'. Consequently people have travelled from North and South (and the Midlands) usually Where I percieve a slight difference between North and South is in the age profile with the South being slightly younger. Age is an important factor those too young to have gone to Wigan do not appear to be wedded to the 'Wigan Oldie' because it is less about nostalgia for them. The same can be said about those who never left the scene in the 80's be they from the North or the South perhaps people like me have been in the 'newies camp' from the days of the Casino but where I live makes little difference to that other than how far I need to travel to find a venue with the right policy for me. In short I'm glad I live in the North for all sorts of reasons but wish 100 club, Plinston, Sheridans, Wilton, Steam were closer to Blackpool
  14. Hopefully never. However I on reflection at Wigan I would be on the dance floor 95% of the time and the other 5% of the time in the record bar. Now when I'm not behind the decks its it's 90% of the time in the record bar, 5% on the dancefloor and 5% stroking my chin I really need to redress the balance
  15. Has to be 'Itchycoo Park' - the Small Faces
  16. Have to say most people on 'ere will think I'm mad but I love Dean Barlow 'Three Flights Up'. There I've said it and no I am not ashamed
  17. looks suspect to me. I wouldn't touch it
  18. She's a crap shag anyway
  19. I think the three tracks above are perhaps not rare because they sold quite well, locally at least, when first released. Perhaps some people would rebel against such tracks just because of this but never the less the quality wins through. Not sure any one plays 'substandard' sounds just because they are rare its just the view of what is 'substandard' varies a lot. I don't buy records I don't like (well not on purpose, some blind buys turn out to be awful tho) So if I play a record its because I believe in it. Surely this is the only approach to take. I'm also not sure people 'choose' to be into the scene. Once it's got yer there's no getting away. There must be 100's of better ways to spend £x and x hours a year, but because the scene has got me I can't think of a single one.
  20. Well Pete as I always say "You can't educate pork; only cure It"
  21. J J Barnes 'Please Let Me In' Until now I don't think I have heard anyone with a bad word to say about it. Sure someone on here will prove me wrong
  22. I'm not sure you can be an Ex-Soulie in the same way as you can't be an ex-alcoholic (hic).
  23. Meself, Steve McWilliams and Roly were talking about him at the after show party for 'once upon a time' show on Sat. Roly knows his name and he did say Mark I think but I was pissed and had been DJing on the same bill as Guy Hennigan so was a bit emotional He is a bit of a nuisance I know that much. Often in a dogstooth check suit most of us call him shades. He sell memorabillia / badges etc at record fairs as well. I know that doesn't help much but the clues may help someone identify him. A deffinate candidate for the 'Northern Big Soul Brother' house imagine being locked up for a month with him
  24. The Carousel on Plymouth Grove, had a copy of the Jades on Nite Life nicked outta my bag there
  25. Glad you enjoyed it Jimmy Seeing the cast at the 'after show party' at the Boardwalk last Saturday made it obvious they actually enjoyed the music. Because they were new to the scene so to speak they danced to all sorts of wigan stuff, covering all eras of the venue, with no preconcieved ideas. A bit like most of us when we first got into the music I guess.
